Chereads / Come Back My Beast / Chapter 11 - Restless

Chapter 11 - Restless

THREE DAYS AGO

Abigail was frightened to see Kane fall to the ground unconscious all bad thoughts were going through her mind as she panicked. Her father and little sisters come piling in after hearing her loud scream.

Her father looked confused as he caught sight, on, Kane. She stood up from kneeling down beside him wanting to say something but couldn't.

Tina walked up to her with sadness. "What has happened is he alright?" Tina asked kneeling down.

"Tina get away from him." Her father ordered and Tina quickly went to her side.

"Is this the one you've spoken of Abigail?" Lillian asked.

She answered with a nod. "Father please help him he is my friend?" She begged with a cry. "He needs help he's unwell?"

"Why is he here Abigail you and him, knew that he wasn't to come back until he gave me the heart of a werewolf? Why did you disobey me, Abigail?"

"Father you know I love him but why can you not accept that why do you hate him so?

"Because I care for your safety I can't trust him! You may love him but you yet know nothing about him only that he is good to you and would protect you? Does Kane love you just as much as you love him?"

"Wouldn't you know father? You said yourself that you've noticed he's taken a liking to me a moment ago?" She told. "And after I've told you that he's never hurt me you still don't trust him? Why father why!"

"The day I found out you had touched the gate the witch was trying to harm you he came out of know where like he knew everything about a protection spell when only I and the lords knew about unless he was one of those creatures who could see the spell? And if I find out you've lied to me about who or what he is you won't see him again!"

"Kane is a man who cares and is willing to protect me I don't know what I'd do if I lose him?" She cried caressing Kane's cheek. "Please help him let him stay just until he's better?"

"Men put the young man on the bed and you ladies are coming with me down to the dining hall to have breakfast?" That included herself though she didn't feel hungry anymore after all that had happened. All she wanted to do now was stay by Kane's side and wait for him to wake.

Before leaving she watched as lord Isaac and a few other lords put him on her bed. Where was she going to sleep if he was in her bed surely her father wouldn't allow such behavior?

Making her way down to the dining hall behind her father and three little sisters she stayed quiet not wanting to speak while they all had a conversation she couldn't understand as it was only babbling to her.

She was hurt by her father's words when he knew nothing about her and what she knew about Kane and he could never know when he would kill the man she loved without a care about how she would feel. She was scared for Kane's health and safety as he lay unconscious in her chamber along with whoever chose to keep an eye on him.

How could she trust anyone anymore when no one seemed to trust her words about Kane or seemed to trust him?

When she entered the dining hall she sat at the table and was immediately served sausage Bacon eggs and jam toast. She couldn't eat, not when there was an important man in her life up in her chamber.

He needed help her help to recover consciousness and she'll start off by having one of her maids get a physician a good one.

"Father may I be excused I'm no longer hungry?" She asked picking at the food on her plate in front of her.

The king looked up at her with uncertainty. "Abigail, you haven't touched your breakfast now eat?" He told getting the idea of what she wanted.

"Please father I want to be by Kane's side when he awakes?" She choked up. "Let me stay with him I'll take a food tray up with me if you want me to eat just let me be by his side until he awakens?"

He signed she knew her father couldn't last long until he gave in to her request. He's always had a soft spot for her ever since she was a child she couldn't do the things her older sisters did so she would get anything that would possibly make her happy and distracted from the temptation. But as she got older the more curious she got.

"Okay fine go on but remember what you promised?"

"Yes of course thank you, father!" She cheered up and hurried to her chamber with her maidservant.

With a hast, she hurried up the stairway she needed to see him and see if he was okay she yet wasn't sure if to trust the lords or anyone who was watching over him as he was unconscious in her chamber.

If it was even possible she couldn't let them find out about what he was no matter what the situation might be. She couldn't even imagine what her life would have been if he didn't appear in it.

She opened the door of her chamber and spotted two of the lords out of the six. "Everyone please leave at once I'm going to be watching over him from now on." She turned her attention to the maid behind her. "You get me a physician immediately."

"Yes, my lady right away." The maidservant did as she was told and went on her way.

"My lady?" One of the lords said in confusion.

"Go on, leave us I'll watch over him?"

"Yes, my lady." Both lords said and bowed before leaving her alone in her chamber. She looked back at the entrance of her chamber for a few more seconds then walked over to the side of the bed where Kane was laying.

She pulled a chair closer to the side of the bed and sat down. Pushing back his hair from his face seemed to only want her to cry she prayed that he would awaken she wanted to see his beautiful emerald green eyes once more.

She watched him intensely like, it would somehow make him wake up sooner but she knew it wouldn't. There was a sudden knock on the door with a voice behind it. "My lady, I've brought a physician just like you've ordered?"

"Please come in." She stood up and quickly whipped her tears away.

"It's an honor to finally meet you, my lady I'm Daniel an old physician of this royal household before you were ever born." He bowed.

"I see it's a pleasure to meet you. Now that you've arrived please help that man he is unwell and unconscious he fainted when he stood up this morning?"

He walked up closer to the bed. "Mm?" His eyes widened. "Oh my, why is this man here!" He asked in sudden surprise.

"He is my friend and I want you to help him if you can not do that then I'd much rather you leave immediately?" She told with a bit of anger.

Why was it everyone reacted badly when they see Kane he hadn't done anything in human form that could cause people to fear him far as she knew? He couldn't help what he was deep inside but even if they knew nothing of him they had chosen to throw bad comments like a dagger straight into his heart.

humans were, the most judgmental and careless living things on the earth people just don't care about how words could truly hurt someone?

"I'm sorry my lady I shouldn't have reacted like that in front of you?" He bowed once more.

"No, you shouldn't have reached like that either in front of me or not it is still wrong don't you agree?"

"Yes, my lady?"

"Good not please do your job I want to know what had happened to him."

He nodded and moved closer to the bed. She watched him do things to Kane that she had never seen before. "What is he doing?" She asked her maidservant.

"He's checking his pulse, my lady it's to see how high or low his heartbeat is."

"Mmm..." She continued to watch the man and observe what he did. She could learn those things in case a physician couldn't come due to other emergencies. And she could help Kane with a few things and take care of him herself.

"His heart rate is a little high but it isn't anything serious so do not worry but he has a fever of one hundred and four which could be severe if not taken care of." He began to look confused and in thought.

"What is it what are you not telling me?" She demanded.

"Do not worry my lady just be sure to use cold water and a cloth and try to break the fever. exchange the water with fresh cold water every thirty minutes to an hour. He seems to not be ill or in pain just exhausted that was his reason for fainting this morning so he needs plenty of rest."

"You're not giving him medicine but relying on a cold wet cloth?" She asked confused and saddened.

"I am unable to do anything but that for him he is in a very deep slumber who knows when or if he would be awakening?"

She began to feel panicked. "No? No, don't say that he will wake up you just said so yourself that he's just exhausted!" She hurried to Kane's side nudging the physician away. "You have to wake up and come back to me okay? You have to?" She sobbed taking his hand into hers.

"Leave the both of you!" She ordered.

How could that man say such things to her? Kane was a part of her life and would always be even if they couldn't be together she'll find a way there had to be a way?

Kane was strong he would wake up she couldn't believe the physician's words he didn't know what he was saying?

Oh, Kane my love my knight I wish you knew how much you truly mean to me? She thought to herself before falling asleep at Kane's side.

When she woke she had slept through the entire day and no one seem to care about her well-being as no one woke her up for dinner.

She stood up from off the floor and kissed his forehead and let go of his hand before leaving to find something to eat down in the kitchen. Everyone was in bed asleep by this time so she needed to be extra quiet to be sure not to awake anyone.

Entering the kitchen she looked around before picking up a few biscuits and, stuffed, her mouth full. And filled herself a cup of orange juice and gulped it down.

She then grabbed a small pot from off, the table and filled it with cold water. She couldn't forget about what the physician told her to do about Kane's fever. She needed to bring it down so he won't worsen and wake up soon. When the pot was half full she grabbed a cloth and took the pot upstairs in, her chamber quietly as she could.

Setting the pot on the side table she dipped the cloth into the water to get it drenched and ringed out the excess water so too not have gotten his face too wet. She patted the wet cloth against his forehead and his neck without pulling the collar of his shirt down much as possible.

His breathing was so quiet it was like he wasn't breathing at all? As she continued drenching and ringing the cloth specks of tears escaped her eyes so badly that all she could wish for was to see his eyes and hear his voice once again.
