Chapter 14 - When Calamity Befalls

"Angga, you said all the same, Evan?" asked Lia as soon as Angga finished sending Evan a selfie of the two of them.

"Yes. Evan said he asked us to accompany them."

"Better not with me. But you don't have to go to Evan, Ngga. Even though Ana's attitude has gone too far again, I don't want her to be even more embarrassed if I know what she's done."

Angga was silent for a few moments. He thought that Lia would enthusiastically accept his invitation. Because for the second time, Lia will be able to 'beat' Ana or even embarrass the girl because of what she has done. But apparently, Lia is still thinking about Ana's feelings.

Of course, this has added to Angga's admiration for Lia. Because not only her face is beautiful, but it turns out that she also has a very good personality. And back unconsciously, a smile was again painted on Angga's lips...

"Hey! Why are you smiling, anyway?" Lia hissed while nudging Angga's arm which instantly made the young man wake up from his daydream.

"Eh, hehe. Sorry, Lia. Okay, so what do you think… what's the next plan?"

"You know I'm here. Perhaps because of that, she had asked to find another place. So, that's all. I pretended to leave this cafe and deliberately passed in front of them so that Ana could see when I was gone. Well, maybe she's a little relieved that I'm not here. She doesn't feel intimidated anymore. Then, after that, you came over to Evan. And... you two can nicely interrogate Ana. After all, you haven't lost anything yet, have you?"

"Hmmm… yes I do. In terms of material, there is nothing to lose. Okay, let's run your plan. But, I told Evan first. So that later we can interrogate Ana together."

Lia nodded in understanding, then decided to tidy up her belongings while Angga sent a message to Evan. Not long after, the friend had replied to his message and understood the plan to be carried out.

"Okay, that's a deal. Now, I'm out of this place. They're at table number two, right? That means it's near the door, so it's easier to get Ana's attention. Oh yes, don't be provoked by the pleading words. You focus on your goal. You have to be firm, she's bound to lose."

"You know her so well, you know her. Ckckck" Angga chuckles in disbelief while shaking his head.

"Yes, that's it, Ngga. Okay, I'll go first."

"Uh, wait."

Reflexively, Angga held Lia's arm but immediately let go because he felt uncomfortable having touched the girl's hand without permission.

"Uh, sorry. You don't go or go home yet, okay? After this, the three of us have to get together so that everything can be clear. Especially, Evan, he should apologize to you."

"Emmm... just tell me later, Ngga. Okay?" said Lia, smiling.

Lia stepped casually towards the door to get out of the Coffee Shop. Then, as she almost arrived at table number two, she accidentally dropped her wallet which immediately attracted Ana's attention.

For a few seconds, the two stared at each other without blinking. Ana looks surprised and her face looks tense. Meanwhile, Lia immediately looked away without paying further attention to Ana or Evan, then walked back to get out of the place.

Ana's gaze continued to follow Lia's movements until the girl left the place. Unbeknownst to anyone, Ana breathed a sigh of relief as if the burden she was carrying had disappeared, then she leaned back against the chair.

---

"Why, Lia?" Evan asked.

"Oh, it's okay," she answered briefly, then took a sip of the cup of mochaccino she had ordered.

Not long after, Angga approached Evan's table and the two pretended to greet each other. Then, involved a short conversation typical of a pair of friends. Evan asked Angga to sit beside him. And in a friendly manner, he also introduced the girl sitting opposite the two of them.

"Know you, Ngga," Evan said with a smile, then glanced at Ana who was now also smiling sheepishly.

"Hey, she should already know me, anyway. But... Get to know me, I'm Angga. And you… Ana, right?"

"Cough!"

Ana choked on her saliva when Angga said his real name. In an instant, her nets rounded and her face turned pale. Cold sweat began to flow out through the pores of her body.

"Why? Why is my handshake not accepted?" Angga asked again, which made Ana die of lice.

"Keep calm. We won't demand anything. Because we also did not experience any material loss. It's just that I'm very sorry if it turns out that Evan is so easily deceived."

Evan turned sharply at Angga because he felt disapproved of what he said. He wanted to hit his best friend, but he restrained himself because the situation didn't allow him to do so.

"Okay, Ana. Let's finish the drama you've made," said Angga, which made Ana even more uncomfortable.

She was scared.

"Who will explain first? You or from our side?" without giving a long pause, Angga again threw a question to Ana who pursed her lips even more.

Feeling cornered and ashamed and also afraid, made Ana suddenly get up from her seat to leave that place.

"If you go, then… this business will be longer. And of course, involving the authorities because this is a case of fraud." With a firm tone, Angga said this which succeeded in stopping Ana's steps.

Her legs seemed to be shaking, even her hands were squeezing each other. In the end, Ana turned around and sat back down in her original place. Her face looked sluggish, she didn't even want to look at Angga and Evan at all.

"D-don't ... don't report it," Ana said softly in a voice trembling with fear.

"Listen carefully, what Angga will tell you," said Evan flatly.

Ana swallowed her saliva again. She was really scared and wanted to get out of there immediately. But the threat about 'the authorities' a.k.a the Police made her down. She didn't want to go to jail and sit stupidly behind bars. Ana was so embarrassed, she didn't even dare to wipe the sweat that was running down her temples.

This did not make Angga or Evan feel bad at all. Then, Angga as Evan's spokesperson explained everything to Ana. And, again has succeeded in making the girl silent surrender.

Even so, deep in Ana's heart, there was a speck of anger that enveloped her. Because again, Lia managed to thwart what she had planned and also made her feel embarrassed again. The hatred in Ana's heart has now turned into a grudge that thirsts for revenge.

"After this, you have to say thank you to Lia. Because she didn't want to come here. The reason… you know what? she doesn't want you to be embarrassed. So, Lia decided to go home. In addition, she also asked us to resolve this issue using mediation." With a firm and cold tone, Angga closed his long explanation to Ana which made her even more congested.

"We don't know what the problem is with you. Because we are newcomers. But, I hope... in the future, you won't repeat the same mistake. This time, you are lucky because there is someone kind enough that you don't have to be taken to the police. What if the opposite happened?" added Angga again.

At the same time, Ana's tears spilled which she had been holding back all this time. Feelings of shame, anger, and sadness gathered together and had succeeded in making her even more motionless.

What Ana did has been exposed clearly. And because of her actions, she had to return to pay for everything with the shame she had to endure.

Ana pleads with Evan and Angga to forgive her. She promised that she would never do that again. And much more important than that, she also promised that she wouldn't bother Lia again... that's what she said.

"You don't need to promise me and Evan. But, you have to make a promise to yourself," said Angga flatly after hearing Ana's words.

"Oh yeah, even though we're newcomers and you're originally from here, it doesn't mean you can act like you want, Ana. Instead, as a native from this area, you have to show a good attitude if you don't want to get a bad stamp from other people." Again, Angga eloquently gave sharp advice to Ana.

After Angga finished carrying out his duties as spokesperson, now it was Evan's turn to speak up. He asked for Lia's handkerchief back which Ana had received. Fortunately, the girl always carried the handkerchief with her. So, right then and there he handed it back to Evan.

After the conversation was considered finished, Evan and Angga left Ana alone. Angga said that Ana did not have to pay for the food or drinks that had been ordered because they had already paid for everything.

After the death of the two young men, Ana sobbed and lamented the recompense that must be received due to her cheating actions towards Evan and also Angga, especially to Lia—the girl she always bullied.
