Clara’s POV
“Clara, it’s Claudia...”
The soft voice coming through the door made me stop in my tracks.
I had been pacing the room, crying and trying not to destroy everything in sight. I felt broken inside.
I couldn’t kill my mate... I wouldn’t. Deep down, he meant everything to me... and that scared me.
I walked over to the door and unlocked it. Hearing the click, Claudia opened it slowly.
“Claudia, now isn’t the time,” I started to say. But then she held up her hand and gave me a look–
A look that reminded me of my mother.
“Clara, stop,” she said. “Sonny is miserable without you. He loves you, and I know you love him.”
Her words hit hard, and the tears flowed freely. Falling to my knees, I wrapped my arms around my chest and cried.
My heart told me one thing, and my gut told me another. I knew what I had to do, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it.
“Claudia, I feel like such a fool...” I cried.
