It had been now two weeks since the wedding between Mara and Kiel. Their relationship had turned so distant with each other. Everyone around them had noticed this but they didn't dare talk. The smile in Kiel's face was gone. He stopped talking with his men especially his Death Row which was really sad.
They didn't know what had happened to the both of them but they really wished that things would go back to how they were. They remembered that after he got married, he went back to being the jovial prince they once knew before the queen got sick. Now he was cold, brutal with his soldiers and got drunk alot.
Mara on the other hand had been spending her time in the queen's chambers. It was so peaceful and tranquil here. Also she could safely look at the queen's face and feel like she was with Kiel. The cold war between them was affecting her alot also. She hated it and wanted it to end but she couldn't just forget how hurt she was. What was worse was that he didn't even bother explaining what had happened between him and Kia. Not that she asked anyway and what she didn't know was that he actually didn't because he didn't know how and didn't want to make it worse.
"Mother I am so stupid. I want what we had back so much. I don't want this fight anymore. I don't know why it hurts even if it was obvious that he had a life before he met me," she broke in to a dam of tears on queen Abi's shoulder.
A golden glow came from her tears penetrating the body of the queen as she continued to cry. Suddenly, Mara felt a hand on her head. Weakly but surely rubbing her hair. [Wait, queen Abi?] She lifted her face slightly to see she wasn't dreaming. Heck of course she wasn't dreaming considering the completely dumbfounded faces by the two maids.
"Go call the prince or the King and the healers, Now!" She ordered and the maids scurried away to relay the good news. In no time, the King rushed in. He had his royal sash and crown probably signifying that he was doing something official. The royal healers walked in too and went to the queen's side. Mara quickly moved to give them space.
"What happened Mara?" The King asked with a mixture of surprise and hope.
"Your majesty I was talking to the queen when I suddenly felt her pat my head and smoothen my hair," she said while bowing her head.
"Are you sure daughter," the king asked hopefully.
"Yes, I thought I was dreaming at first but then the maids saw it too!" She exclaimed happily. The maids nodded happily when the king turned his gaze to them.
The King walked over to his wife and held his wife's hand. She felt warm for once in a long time. Oh how he missed this! He looked up at the healers and they smiled. They all told him that the queen seemed to have gotten better for whatever reason. Color was back to her skin and her heartbeat sounded stronger than earlier.
Mara watched The king and queen and wondered if their relationship would be like that ever. Kiel? Where was he? [ Is he not home? Maybe he is just so busy right now.] Mara got out of the room and went to look for her husband. She had seen the sad look in his eyes whenever his mother was brought up so he needed this information pronto.
" Excuse me but have you the crown prince?" She asked one of the soldiers and he said the prince had apparently gone to the city to take care of something with his men. Mara couldn't wait for him to come so she set off to the city with Kara and the coachman who would take him to where the prince was.
Mara was beyond excited. She could imagine how bright his face would beam. After what they had been going through, at least he would smile first and they would try to work it out. Mara had decided to let the issue go as that was his past and not his present.
The carriage pulled to a stop Infront of a weird castle like building. Something about it gave Mara a bad vibe and she wondered why Kiel would be here. Anyway, she imagined he might be working and proceeded to the building.
There was a bar at the ground floor and they walked on to the first floor and then to the second where they found a woman seated by a desk.
Kara walked over and showed the royal badge she was wearing to show she was a royal guard. The woman stood up and bowed at Mara. "Hello, please take me to crown prince Kiel. I have really important information for him that needs to be told in person right now," Mara said.
"I'm sorry but the crown prince, milady, is very busy right now. Maybe I can call you in when he is done," the woman said hesitantly.
" No this information is of grave importance. I'm sure he will leave whatever he is doing right now if he heard it," Mara said.
The woman seemed torn. On one hand she had received an order not to let anyone to the room while on the other, she worried that if this information did not get to the prince, she would lose her head.
As she was still wondering what to do, Mara got impatient and budged in opening the double doors. She froze by the door unable to move. Tears clouded her vision that she looked up to keep them from falling. Her body shook violently and the remaining standing piece of her heart shattered to the ground.
The people inside the room were also very shocked. There was a lady on seated on a couch alone and opposite was Kiel surrounded by naked girls touching his arms suggestively. Kiel was so shocked to see his wife there that he forgot to shake off the women who were leaching on him. Not that he had noticed their advances before anyway.
