My feet clattered against the stone ground, for a moment I was alone in that hall. The frantic breaths unfolding before me.sweat pouring from my face.
The moment you dream of, the moment you long for. I sat in front of the angel. Her smile intoxicates in a painful, agonising moment.
"You want me to do what?"
"I want you to save a world… maybe it's more accurate to say i want to watch you try, if your previous life was any indication this will be quite the entertainment."
"That's not fair!!!!!all i asked for was a chapter of a novel and you want me to do what? Slay a demon king?!?!?!?"
"No no no no no… I want you to kill eight of them."
Her laugh sounded around the sheer emptiness, the light emanating from her almost silver skin petrifying me.
"That's not fair, the two requests are completely different."
"Exactly you had access to anything, you could have asked to be immortal, you could have asked to learn everything, hell you could've asked to be god it was your own fault that you didn't use the full scope of what you were given."
"But how the hell am i supposed to against a demon king,"
"Well it's not exactly demons, but I guess you'll find that out in a bit. Although it would be terribly boring if you were to die right away, so I'll give you a present."
"Because you are so clearly an idiot I don't think that magic will suit you, so I will give you a sword. Maybe learn to fight this time."
I woke up with a sword, and around me was a dark room. Not as dark as before but dimly lit and gloomy, stood up barely stumbling to a door.
It was huge, teeth poked from its jaw, maybe fangs describe it better, huge monstrous teeth opened as saliva and blood dripped from the gaping jaws, two yellow eyes stared into mine, one slightly redder, it was breaking a huge scar that ripped across the muscular red skin. Scraps of cloth spread across the monster's skin, sometimes covered by leather, in its hand was a huge curved sword lightly stained with red and cut deeply.
I couldn't even gulp, my throat closed and my breathing stopped, my heart raced and I fell to the floor as its hulking body moved. It raised its fist and opened its hand, the arm shooting for my neck. I winced and closed my eyes, but then a few seconds went by.
I peeled my eyelids open to see the monster's arm in front of my face, it was hard to see under the layers of the monster but a confused look fell across the monster's aggressive features. I stood up, both of us confused. The monster raised his sword, the blade crashing down with immense speed and power, enough to split the stone I was standing on, but again, I had dodged without thinking. I gripped the sword and when he swung again plunged the blade into the monster's side, my arms twisting and struggling to rip the blade from his chest. And with it came torrents of oozing black gile.
"Congratulations! You passed the first test, you have permission to move to the next level."
A small man appeared before me, his form hovering over the carcass of the monster.
"Uuuh who are you?"
"I am the examiner,"
"Yeah… where are we?"
"Did the goblin hit you too hard? We are in a tower, the tower of death."
"That's uuuh ominous,"
"No it is honouring the god… maut of death, how do you not know about the gods."
"Uuuh i met an angel, does that count?"
"What are you talking about? Freak, just head to the next level."
I walked forward and suddenly my body was wrapped in a strange light, the dark hall emblazoned by the surrounding flood of white light.
And then, I was in a bigger room. The smae monster I had faced before stood before me, but instead of one, there were easily a hundred.
Again my heart started to pound, I clenched my sword and… ran away.
Kicking against the ground i jetted forward and turned to a bend,
My feet clattered against the stone ground, for a moment I was alone in that hall. The frantic breaths unfolding before me. sweat pouring from my face. I charged down the hall chased by a torrent of monsters, their bodies forming a wave of differently shaded red. Shouts and bellows carried from behind me with rows of goblins throwing stones and swords at me.
Finally I turned a corner, my feet rushing me to freedom.
But before i started to feel light with relief, it hit me like a ton of bricks,
a wall.
My hopes were crushed in that instant, like someone had stabbed my dreams with a knife, but as i turned around my freedom was curb stomped by the image of a goblin army, their mouths foaming with rage, I knew it was futile but i couldn't help it, i walked backwards wanting to feel the cold bricks behind me.
The first barrage of blows was brutal, like gods with a million hands swords struck around me, the crashing metal hitting the wall like the swell of a wave.
The loud sound was terrifying. But again, I was alive.
I started to stop the goblins with my sword as volleys of blows struck behind me.
I couldn't help but shout, my lungs burning as I shouted.
"WHY AM I NOT DEAD?!?!?"
I died once but… how am i still standing, how am i still alive when… There are hundreds of corpses around me.
"OK anothe… wait you're not dead yet?"
"No"
"How?!?!?!?"
"um… I'm not sure."
"I swear kids these days get weirder and weirder."
"Do I go up to the next level?"
"I suppose well you wont get past that one."
"How many levels are there?"
"128"
