Two figures stood in night. One was a tall man wearing a suit. Other one was a short woman. She wore a red dress.
"Come one! Ups! Okay, like that!"
Man stood without moving or speaking. Woman was on other hand was agitated. She moved, punched the air and cheered.
"I don't understand you."
Stopping her moving she looked at him with a curious expression. She cocked her head to side.
"You had no reason to turn him. All the things you do just confuses me."
Man put his hand to his face. She just shrugged.
"I was bored, Edward. I am alive for, I don't know over 400 years old? I just wanted to test it. When he actually turned, I wanted to keep playing with him. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less."
"You created a First-Generation Vampire that has potential to be stronger than S ranked hunters? Or is it because he is that man's…"
Edward stopped when he felt the intense bloodlust directed to himself. Just as it surged out in a second, it died down in a second. Elizabeth spoke with her usual, childish tone.
"Yep. Because I was bored."
She looked to man fighting against two monsters. His clothings were torn and he was bleeding slightly.
"He is not going to win. Even he learns how to use mana, he is not strong enough to defeat both of them."
"Maybe he can?"
Elizabeth said as man's side was open due him striking. One of the monsters took advantage of that and swung their claws. Man, predicting it, slashed its wrists.
"He learned your trick."
Edward was famous for leaving openings in his guard. When his opponent tried to capitalize those openings, he would predict and strike them down.
"He is smart, I have nothing to say about it. But, Elizabeth most people either have talent in martial arts or in mana manipulation. Very few have it in both."
Elizabeth giggled.
"Are you one of them?"
She asked in a playful manner. Edward cleared his throat.
"I don't think he has talent in mana manipulation."
"You just sparred with him for a hour. I don't think it is enough for to discern his talents."
Edward just shook his head.
"Between those two talents, mana manipulation talent is obviously better one."
"You, who is trained in sword since birth says that?"
"Yes. You may not understand this because you are a vampire Elizabeth. But humans are just humans. No matter how deep ones martial art is, they cannot win against an elephant without proper weapons. Weapons are more important to us than other skills. In our world right now, mana is the strongest weapon."
Elizabeth slapped his back.
"Okay, this is enough. Now, go save him."
Edward sighed. He knew that arguing with her was pointless. He jumped roof to roof to help man fightning monsters. When he moved far enough from her, she took a good look at the man. She sighed.
"Geez, you don't even look like him."
Her voice carried a longing tone.
Once I started training, one of the first things I learned was the fact that talk was cheap. Of course, everyone thinks that they know that thing. In reality people think themselves as tougher, stronger and faster than what they actually are. Let me give you one example: In one of my first training session, our instuctor asked to group I was in if we thought we were good runners. Most answered with yes. Then he made us run until we vomited. In our next training session he asked if we thought if we were good runners. None answered with yes.
"He made us run until we vomited anyways."
Fucker. By the way, I was one the rarer ones that didn't thought themselves as good runner. However, that day I learned that humans only carried their arrogance until they were smashed in the face by reality. The reason I was thinking this, at this very moment was…
"You guys are slowing down."
I said to them as if they could understand me. Maybe they could. I breathed deep and controlled. Sweat covered my entire body. My lungs begged me to breathe faster. I refused. If my breathing went out of control, rest would follow.
Control your mind.
Control your breathing.
Control your body.
Control your enemy.
What a load of bullshit. If it was only that simple, I was S ranked now. Yet, I struggled against two monsters in a back alley. Struggling maybe was wrong word. Their body was covered with wounds. While they kept healing, their regeneration slowed down compered to beginning.
"So is my stamina."
I thought to myself. While their healing reached the limit so was my stamina. Even my superhuman stamina drained away after sparring against a S ranked hunter, chasing a vampire at rooftops and fighting two werewolves.
"Maybe they are still aroun… No!"
I deleted that idea as soon as it came to my mind. This is my fight. I will win it! I felt my forearm cramp. I always had a habit of gripping my weapons too tight. Combined with blocking heavy ass blows, it came back to bite me. Despite the pain, I held on. As if smelling my weakness their attacks became fiercer. My body was covered with flesh wounds. Thanks to my reinforced clothes, they weren't too deep. My head also hurt due all the information I was taking in. Every swing I took felt like I was moving in water.
"Relax your shoulder, move your grip lower. Don't block, roll with them."
He again moved with my me detecting him! Due being focused at enemy front of me, I couldn't be bothered to look back.
"You don't have the strength to slash deep. How will you kill them?"
He was correct. But I had a way. Counter. When one attacked, their weight shifted towards who they were attacking. If one managed to strike them at that very moment, they would be hit by their own weight and speed.
"The risk is great."
