After a while, the two boys finally heard silence—a sign that the knights were no longer near them!
Panting, they looked at the crescent moon above and the billion stars hovering around the endless sea of beautiful darkness.
Lock and Chap were now in a quiet alley, probably tenths of buildings away from the street earlier. Here, people were a lot lesser, and the surroundings were a lot quieter.
Lock and Chap moved again, arriving at a safe spot located in a street with a higher elevation where they could see the night scenery of the Capital.
Carrying him with one arm, Lock then put Chap to the side, and sighed. Chap still cannot walk as normal as he did, and could not run. Thus, carrying him was faster.
"What the hell was that?" Lock complained, looking at Chap.
Looking at Lock though, Chap had his mouths agape. Chap looked at Lock's arms and his legs, all of them gave the impression that they were rippling with muscles!
He never realized it before as Lock doesn't have a big frame. But he was ripped. On top of that, he can use magic!
"What the hell was that!? Why are you so strong?" Chap shouted at Lock. He lifted himself up with one arm, and smiled.
"Huh? Haha, ah you mean my strength?" Lock looked at his palms and started to grin.
"Well, no matter what happened earlier. We could forget that. Instead, now that you know how strong I am, you could see that having me as a comrade when we join the guild is great, right?"
"Ho, I see." Chap glanced at the city and smiled.
'This Lock is great. Not only he is a wizard, he can also fight combat! Is it really okay to stay with someone this dangerous? He doesn't look to be around here though. I never heard of someone like this. If he was around here, he should have been famous for a long time.' Chap thought.
Lock relaxed the muscles in his neck and just handed Chap the remaining barbeques.
"Here."
"You even brought me these? You could have simply ignored it." Chap asked.
"Huh? I promised you, right? And you promised me too. You're going to join me in joining the guild. If you're not doing anything, becoming an adventurer is better."
"I see." Chap was so hungry, that he could almost cry.
He received the barbeques and munched on them.
'Well, does it matter?' he thought, looking at Lock who was waiting for him to finish.
"Do you know which guild you're joining though?" Chap then asked.
The guilds in the Capital had great reputations, and had high status even across the continent. There were no more than three guilds in the Continent which could surpass them from what he heard.
However, in the Capital, there were two to choose from.
Lock was aware of these things but he really did not have any first-hand experience of what the guilds were here all about.
"What do you think? I leave the decision to you."
Chap swallowed the last meat from a barbecue stick and said;
"Hmmm. Let's just go to the nearer one. Now that I eaten, I need to drink too. Haha." He said, pointing to a big building situated in the North side of the town.
Guilds were private establishments, but they also serve public services. Free water was one of those.
The only downside why beggars would rather live in the streets than stay there when they don't have anything to do was the existence of wizards. Wizards were not all kind. Some of them had high egos.
But that was not the reason why normal people avoid going to guilds. It was because wizards were dangerous and guilds around here were full of them.
If a fight broke out between two existences like that, what could a normal person do?
However, Chap can now go there.
He wasn't very sure of how wizards rank themselves, but based on what he seen, Lock was strong and kind enough to deal with a few of them.
---
After a few minutes, Lock and Chap arrived in the Northern District of the Capital.
Compared to the market or the city square, the northern district was a place full of taverns, pubs, and inns. It was literally glowing with orange and yellow light from the windows of the buildings.
"Sometime in the future, I want to sleep in an inn too." Chap said with a sad face.
Lock eyed him, as he rolled his eyes inside his head, and laughed at himself.
"If he stares mundane things like that, he really looks like a beggar." He muttered.
He had been around Chap for quite some time now. And he had noticed that Chap often looked at people with jewelries and with nice clothes like they were some kind of meat.
'Now, he's looking at inns?' Lock thought.
They were walking forward with ease.
The kind of people in this area of the Capital had changed considerably.
Unlike the streets earlier wherein people were dressed in ordinary attires, most people here were obviously adventurers, warriors, merchants, and travelers.
Most of them even had weapons.
It was safe to assume that some of these people were even wizards.
"If I remember I should see the guild if I walk straight this path." Chap said.
Chap's head was calmly gazing at the bustling crowd full of travelers wielding different types of weapons and clothes.
Just then, when they turned to an intersection, they finally saw a big building.
As expected, they arrived at the Guild. However he felt like the name was a little strange.
"I see…"
The name of the Guild was "The Guild of the Most Beautiful Angel".
Naturally, Lock was aware what were the names of the two guilds were in this kingdom. However, the name of this one always sounded strange to him.
The infrastructure was fine rather better than Lock expected from the pictures. But the name didn't look like a decent name for a guild.
Approaching the structure where most people were headed to, Chap started to explain.
"Yes, this is the Guild of the Most Beautiful Angel. Except its name, I think it's a pretty normal guild." Chap scoffed, chuckling right after.
"Why was it called like this though?" There was naturally also mention of why this guild has a name like this, but it was better to be sure asking a citizen.
"From what I heard, it was the guild master doing they say. They say this guild is like a follower of the most beautiful angel: Aprios Qaxaltana. But don't worry, the guild master is not the same as the guild members. "
"I see." Lock said, staring at the big name of the guild.
Aprios Qaxaltana was the goddess of a cult worshipping her beauty. Lock laughed internally, affirming what he thought was crazy and false.
