Ashton's POV
Waking up on Sunday morning, the day before the first day of school, I showered to refresh myself from the dinge that is morning. When I'm all clean, I get out and dry off to change into a black v-neck t-shirt and dark blue denim jeans. I brush out my wet hair, blow-drying it so I don't look like a wet dog, and put on a black beanie. To finish off the look for the day, I put on one of my few necklaces, or chains if you will, and my black Jordan's. With one last look in the mirror, I go downstairs to the kitchen and find my mom there. She was making breakfast for us, and I'm guessing dad is in his office.
"Hey mom," I greet.
"Hey honey, ready for tomorrow?" she asks.
"Yep, but I need to go to the mall, to get some things for school," I lie. I need to go to the mall, to see my friends, and get some alcohol.
"Okay, sweetie," she replies. I walk into the living room, seeing my sister there staring at the tv. She's watching Spongebob and totally consumed by it.
"Hey sis," I say, but she doesn't say anything back, nor does she blink. I wave a hand in front of her, but still nothing. Finally, I pick her up and drop her back down on the couch. Which gets her out of her trance, looking at me with wide eyes.
"What was that for?!" she exclaims.
"Hello to you, too," I respond. She rolled her eyes, "You were too busy watching tv and wouldn't answer me."
"Did you have a question?" she questions, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Nope," I answered, popping the 'p'. My sister is an 11-year old girl and a bit of a drama queen. She glared at me. "Wait, I have a question now."
"Then say it, woman."
"Why are you watching sponge bob?"
"Uh um, I'm not?" she stutters, but it comes out more like a question. This causes me to roll my eyes but a smile finds a way to my face. She's ridiculous. I shake my head, chuckling lightly.
"Sure you're aren't," I state which makes her smile.
"So, what do you really want?" she asks.
"Well, I'm going to the mall and was wondering if you need anything," I ponder. She looks thoughtful for a second, bringing one of her hands to her chin, slightly stroking it.
"Not that I can think of."
"Okay, I'll see you later," I say, waving over my shoulder, as I walk out. With a pitstop in the kitchen, I steal a sausage and waffle from my mom. This makes her laugh lightly and I give her a kiss on the head, saying goodbye. On my way out of the house, I eat my waffle and sausage, getting on to my black, cruiser motorcycle. Pulling out of the driveway, I make my trek to the mall.
Soon enough I'm at the mall and parking my bike. With a swing of my leg, I'm off my bike and slowly trading into the mall. My first destination is the alcohol section and I grab a 30 rack of Budlight for me and the boys. Then I pay for them, with my fake ID, of course, I take the bag out to my bike putting it in the compartment. After I make sure no one saw me, and that they were safe, I walk back inside the mall and to the food court, to see my friends. Eventually, I get to the food court and meet my friends. My best friend Jaden was there with, Mason, Axel, Hunter, and Blaze. They are all pretty bad, but I am the most. Mason is the jock. Axel is the quiet one. Hunter is the player. Blaze is the only one who stands up to me, and Jaden is my best friend.
"Hey, Ash!" Jaden greet.
"Hey J," I reply. I sit down next to Jaden and noticed they all look like shit. "What the hell happened to you guys?"
"There was a party last night," Mason states. That's all I need to know, to know that they got drunk and had terrible hangovers. With a sigh and a chuckle from me, they all send me death glares.
"Why didn't you come?" Blaze asks as if to challenge me, making me smirk.
"Because I got laid," I answer simply, which he laughs at.
"Sure you did," he says. I scowl but don't respond, knowing he would just turn my reasons down. Our conversation lasted a little longer before I decided to leave. While I walk to my bike, I look down at my phone and end up running into someone. Their dog barks as we run into each other, the other person landing on their butt. When I look at the person, I notice it's a girl. She ended up dropping her phone and her dog's leash.
"Ow," she winces slightly, a smirk forming on my lips.
"Watch where you're going," I grumble. This causes her dog to randomly start barking at me. She finally looks up and slightly gasps. She slowly gets up and brushes herself, allowing me to get a good look at her. I don't recognize her and she has dark brown hair, light blue eyes, and pale skin. She has to be at least 5'8" since I was 6'0". She has a slim figure and no curves.
"Sorry I'm not sorry," she spits. Apparently, she's confident too if she's standing up to me.
"That doesn't even make sense," I retort.
"Obviously you're too stupid to understand, now leave me alone," she states. She must be a nerd.
"What are you going to do about it?" I ask rhetorically. The dog suddenly starts barking and growling at me, making me annoyed. Soon enough, I got very annoyed and kick the dog lightly. The dog whimpers and falls to the ground.
"Jet!" she screeches, making me lose my hearing. She bends down to make sure the dog is okay. Suddenly she stands up and glares at me. An amused smirk sits on my face, which seems to make her even angrier. In one swift movement, she punches me in the stomach and kicks me in the shin, causing me to fall to the ground on my knees, out of breath. She smirks, picking up her dog before jogging out of the mall. Once I've caught my breath, I slowly stand up. A phone on the ground catches my eye and I smirk. She must've forgotten it when she was grabbing all her stuff. So I pick up the phone and shove it into my pocket before leaving the mall. While I was walking to my bike, I hear a car peeling out of the mall and my eyes fall on a Jeep. As I get onto my bike, I wonder if the Jeep belonged to the girl. My mind is trying to process everything that just happened as I drive out of the mall parking lot. Driving home I sigh, so much has occurred in such little time.
My home comes into vision and I get inside shortly enough. Making a quick trip up the stairs to hide my alcohol, I grab the girl's phone from my pocket and look to see if there is any password. Crazy enough there is no password. While I go through her phone, I find out that her name is Emmaline Johnson and she's in my class. Guess I will be seeing her tomorrow. From the looks of it she doesn't have a boyfriend and apparently, she has no friends in general. She's pretty much a big mysterious person. Hopefully, I'll be able to figure her out.
Emmaline's POV
Waking up to an alarm clock going off on a Monday morning is something that should've never been created. With my fist I slam down on the clock, making it shut up, and slowly get out of bed. To wake me up I trudge over to my bathroom and take a shower. After shaking myself from my sleepy daze, I get out of the shower and dry off. It is late summer here in Montana, almost fall, it's still quite warm so I throw on some black, athletic shorts and a basic grey v-neck t-shirt. I take my brush and comb throw my hair while blow-drying it cause if I don't it will be soaked all day long. Once I've pulled on a pair of white no-show socks, I pull on my black running shoes. Before heading downstairs, I grab my iPod and my headphones, plugging my headphones into my iPod and turning on my music.
As music blasts through my ears, I leave my house and start jogging up my street. I finish my jog and wash my face when I'm back inside. After cleansing and moisturizing my face, I find an outfit to wear for my first day of school. Deciding what to wear I pick out a red and blue plaid shirt that ties in the front and ripped, light-blue, denim shorts that show off my long legs. Since I don't usually do much to my hair, I throw it into a messy bun and put on a bandana as an accessory. Approving my outfit so far, I slip on my black combat boots after pulling on my black no-show socks. Even though I don't know a lot about makeup I try putting on some eyeliner, mascara, and some lip gloss. To finish the look I grab my black shades and all it good, heading downstairs to the kitchen. Not being one for breakfast and not having much time, I grab a banana and head to my Jeep after quickly feeding Jet. Once I'm in my Jeep, I put the key in the ignition and peel out of my driveway, heading towards school.
When I get to school, I park and get out, grabbing my bag from the back. While I walk towards the building, I grab my schedule for the year out of my bad since I had it emailed to me prior. My locker has been the same since freshmen year, so I head to my locker when I get inside and put some stuff in it so my bag doesn't completely weigh me down. With a slam, my locker is shut and I make my way to my first period, Spanish. Spanish has been on my schedule since freshmen year and I'm really not bad at it which I would hope considering I've been doing it for a while. Once I get to the classroom, the bell rings and I take a seat in the back of the class, right beside the window. Preparing for class, I take out my pencil and dread the long senior year that is about to happen. My teacher barely gets a few words out before the door is busted open. Everyone is looking at who all of a sudden slammed the door open and it happened to be none other than Ashton Grey. With a roll of my eyes, I decide looking down at my notebook is far more entertaining.
"Sorry, I'm late," he grumbles, most likely not even sorry.
"You'll just get a warning this time Mr. Grey," the teacher states, going back to their lecture. Ashton looks around the room and out of the corner of my eye I can see him looking at me. Then I notice that the only seat open is beside me. I mentally groan. He struts over, plopping down beside me, not saying a word. He takes a couple of things out of his bag and looks up at the teacher. To be honest, I'm surprised he even pays attention. The class goes by incredibly slowly and every once in awhile, out of the corner of my eye, I see Ashton glance at me. Once the bell rings, I lazily get my stuff together and start walking out of the room. Suddenly, I'm jerked back. My stuff ends up on the floor and hit something hard, making me grunt. Swiftly I bend down and pick up all my stuff, standing back up to notice who decided to grab my arm. A glare reaches my face with no hesitation.
"What do you want?" I spit.
"Calm down, that's no way to get your phone back, now is it?" he questions rhetorically with a smirk, making me huff in response.
"Can I please have it?" I ask sweetly, which makes him raise an eyebrow. So I raise mine in response.
"You gotta do something more than that," he answers with a smirk, the glare returns to my face.
"Just give me my phone, before I rip your little man off," I spit causing his eyes to widen a little. My glare hardens hoping it'll make him disappear in front of me.
"Jeez, you don't have to be so threatening," he says. With a roll of my eyes, I stick my hand out to show that I want my phone. He reaches into his pocket, sticking it out to me. However, as I reach to grab it, he raises it up in the air. Even though I'm not incredibly short he is still taller than me and I would have to jump to grab it which I don't want to do. So I huff, but an idea comes to mind. Swiftly my knee comes up, hitting him where the sun don't shine making him falter and bringing my phone down with it. I snatch my phone from his hand and leave him to groan by himself as I head towards my next class, not bothering to look over my shoulder at him. When I get to my class, I sit in the back by the window, ignoring everything else.
Rrrriiiinnnngggg!
The bell before lunch rings, loud and clear, so I make my way towards the cafeteria. After briefly stopping at my locker to drop off some extra weight, I continue my way to the cafe. Once get there, I go and buy some lunch, which only consisted of potato chips and salad. Salad is one of the only good tasting meals at this school and I also need to keep my body in a good condition for fighting. The chips make my lunch a little tastier and not so bland. With my lunch in hand, I head over to one of the back tables, that isn't close to the middle and I sit down. Since I don't have friends, I sit alone and no one ever tries to sit with me, but I'm okay with that. All of a sudden the cafeteria gets quiet, which is something that always happens. It simply means the "bad boys" have established their presence in the room. This is something I ignore and continue eating my lunch. My peace of eating lunch is ruined when I feel someone's eyes on me, but I don't care so I ignore it. People can judge me and make rumors up about me, but the real question is, is their bite as big as their bark? I doubt it.
My lunch is gone soo enough, so I grab my trash and walk to the trashcan to throw it all away. As I make my way, I feel someone's eyes on me again, but me being who I am, I simply ignore them. Once my trash is cleaned up, I leave the cafe and walk to my locker grab the notebooks for my next two periods. Doing the same routine as always, I head to my second to last period and sit in the back of the classroom by the window claiming my spot.
The final bell rings and I leave the school building. My walk to my Jeep is quick because I don't really like this place, if it wasn't obvious. I throw my bag on the passenger seat, jam my key into the ignition, and leave the school's parking lot. My hand runs throw my hair, already tired of this year. The drive home was short and I trudge into my house. Jet immediately runs to the door and tackles me.
"Hey Jet!" I greet, rubbing his head. "How was your day alone without me?" I question even though he probably doesn't understand anything I'm saying. He barks in response and goes back into the kitchen. A laugh erupts from inside me while walk into the kitchen after him. Once I've given him some food, I go to the fridge to get a snack, grabbing some grapes and eating them. Then, I head to my room and grab my gym bag. After doing an outfit change of black, athletic shorts with a black nike sports bra and black nike tank top, I put my black and white nike air maxes in my gym. I make my way back downstairs and tell my dad that I'm going to the gym. He tells me he loves me and I leave to get in my Jeep. My gym bag gets thrown on to the passenger seat and I get started on the trek to the gym.
The drive to the gym was nice, I played some music to get me in the mood to workout. When I get to the gym I pull into and parking space and get out, heading inside. It's a small building, but not many people really come here. There were only a few people there when I got inside, some I knew and some I didn't. One guy in particular went to my school, pretty sure his name is Jaden as he is best friends with the Ashton Grey. I walk to the girl's locker room, putting my bag in a locker, and changing out my shoes. Once I'm ready I head out into the gym and walk to the treadmills. Getting on one of them, I put my headphones in blasting music and start at a jogging pace for five minutes. Then I turn it up to a running speed and run for fifteen minutes.
After running, I chugged some water and made my way to the punching bag. My routine for that was pretty simple, just working on different techniques and my power delivery. This lasted for twenty minutes, the whole time I could feel someone's eyes on me. People just love to look at me I guess. When I'm done I look around and finally see it was Jaden staring at me. A smirk reaches my lips and I look away. I threw the tape on my hands away and head over to the bench press. I'm not much for lifting, but I'll do the compounds lifts here and there just to keep my muscles active. I do eighty-five pounds for three sets of ten. I'm a small person and I really don't have much muscle when it comes to lifting. Once I'm done, I drink some more water and do fifty sit-ups and push-ups. It's six o'clock when I finish so I decide to leave, heading back to the girl's locker room to grab my gym bag. Feeling gross, I shower quickly and change back into my other clothes. I leave the locker room and see Jaden talking to another guy. If I remember correctly his name is Blaze and he hangs out with Jaden and Ashton at school. Ignoring them, I make my way out of the building. Someone yells my name, but I ignore them not in the mood to deal with people. Soon enough I'm in my Jeep and pulling out of the gym parking lot. On the way home, I stop by Wendy's - don't judge me - to get dinner. When I get home, I grab my bags and head inside.
The house is quiet, but I know my dad is home because his car is here. So I put my gym bag in my room and go back downstairs to the kitchen to eat my dinner. When I'm done, I throw away my trash and head upstairs to get my fighting gear together. After I have everything I need I grab my motorcycle keys, going back downstairs to tell my dad I was leaving. He gives me a look of disappointment, so I give him a reassuring smile before leaving. I'm outside and swinging my leg over my motorcycle in no time. The engines revs as I start it, preparing for the trip to the fighting arena.
