Chereads / Maid To The Prince / Chapter 46 - Chapter 46

Chapter 46 - Chapter 46

Caspian woke up the next morning with Nadia still in his arms and he hoped this would appease his parents.

The physician came in and checked up on Nadia as he watched,

"Your health is in perfect condition, My Lady."

"Thank you," Caspian replied.

The physician made his way out the door, and he saw one of the maids run up to the physician,

"We need you urgently, Aurora is not waking up."

When Caspian heard this he got up and went to the door. The maid bowed her head,

"What is it with Aurora? Tell me now!"

"She is sick My Lord and we tried everything."

Caspian didn't let her say more as he made his way to her chambers, his heart pounded fast. He should have been there for her.

He burst into her chambers and he saw her, pale and she looked as if she was barely breathing, he rushed to her side, the physician hurriedly came to her and he watched as he took her pulse.

When he was done, the physician turned to him, "She should be fine in a couple of days."

Caspian nodded as he left, he turned to the maid who was anxiously standing by the door with her head bowed,

"How did this happen?"

The maid stiffened, "We found My Lady passed out outside, she was sitting out there for a while and when we found her she was ice cold and not moving."

"What bought this about?"

"She had started to act strange when she learned that you would be gracing the princess for the night."

"You may close the door."

"Yes My Lord."

The door was closed and Caspian put on his head down, he knew that she would be hurt by it but he had wanted to explain it to her.

His heart hurt at the thought that she was alone and hurt to the point that she didn't take cover when it got too cold.

This was not what he wanted when she came back, he started to feel anxious when he thought about the last time something like this had happened she left him.

He could not bear it again, he could not let her go, and he did not care what his parents wanted from him, Aurora came first to him.

He took her hand in his, and it felt very cold, "I promise you Aurora, I will not let you out of my sight, I could kind of die to love you anyway, no one can save me now."

After a few hours he needed to go attend to some duties but he did not want to leave Aurora out of his sight.

He kissed her forehead and made his way to his chambers to change into his battle attire, if there was a war breakout he would need to be in the front with his men that was his duty as a prince but he hoped that would not happen.

He sat by the chair and started to assess the scrolls that had come in, trade and there was an invite from Nadia's father that he wanted them to come visit soon.

He groaned, this was not supposed to be happening now. He needed to be there for Aurora at the same time he needed to keep Nadia happy.

Night time came and he headed to Aurora's chambers, he closed her door. He climbed inside the bed and lay next to her. She felt cold still but he could tell there were some improvements to her condition.

He would not think of his parents now, he would deal with it later on. All that he had in his mind the whole day was her getting better.

How it would be lovely to have a getaway just like the two of them but if this reached his parents that he had left Nadia, he would be in for it unless there was a way for him to disguise the trip. Yet that would not work if he and Aurora were both gone.

How long would he have to stay under the clutches of his parents? He was supposed to follow in his father's footsteps, as he had married out of convenience and his mother had always told him that love would come after.

His father had said he needed to give up anything for the throne, being a king came before he was a lover.

Yet he did not want that kind of life, what was the point of the throne when the one person he wanted was not there with him?

Days went by and Aurora looked better but she would not wake up and that made him very stressed, he was barely getting any sleep watching her the whole night, he had to make sure that she was breathing.

He asked for answers but he was told the same thing that he should wait, now sitting in the library exhausted, he carried on working so that his parents would not be notified that he was slacking and Aurora was the reason.

Night time came and he went to his chambers to eat dinner,

"My Lord! My Lord!"

"What is it?"

"Lady Aurora has finally woken up."

Caspian stood up abruptly and made his way to her chambers, he did not care how he looked like. He got to her villa, but she was not in her chambers.

"Where is she?"

"She went to the bath My Lord, she wanted one immediately." One of the servants replied.

He made his way to the bath, and her maid was standing outside, "Evening My Lord."

"Evening."

He opened the door to the bath and closed it behind him. He could see her facing the other side, her back to him.

Her red hair was loose and cascaded down her back, Caspian undressed and walked over to the bath, and he walked in.

He was in front of his lover and she smiled at him, he could see she was weak. Caspian took her hand and pulled her towards him, he let go of her hand and sat behind her with his legs open and Aurora sat between them.

She leaned back in his arms and he held her, he kissed her neck,

"I missed you, my love."

"So did I," Caspian noted that her voice was still raspy, and hoarse.

"I'm sorry you got sick because of me."

"I was the one who decided to sit outside, it's all on me and not you."

"I went to Nadia's chambers and all we did was sleep and nothing more."

"I understand what is at stake for you and I don't want you to lose everything because of me, I am going to be by your side no matter what."

Caspian sighed, "My parents are pressuring me and I can't let anything happen to you, you are my life."

"I know you would not do anything to hurt me on purpose."

"Please don't hurt yourself over me Aurora, my heart is forever with you."

Aurora nodded against him as he took the bath towel and started to wash her gently. He could tell that she was still a bit tired.

She closed her eyes and relaxed further into his arms as he washed every inch of her. When he was done he took a towel and wrapped it around his waist, he took another towel and started to dry Aurora.

When he was done, he wrapped the towel around her and lifted her up in bridal style as he headed to her chambers.

When he got there he got in and closed the door, he saw that the servants had put a loincloth for him and a fresh nightgown for her.

He got dressed and helped her put on her nightgown, everything felt right as they were laying in bed and her head rested on his chest, he could not have asked for anything else with the way he was feeling content at this moment.

Aurora could not feel her face as she sat outside, it was better that she becomes numb and focused on the cold rather than think of what Caspian and Nadia were doing.

She reminded herself that he did not have much of a choice, as long as his heart belonged to her that is all that mattered to her.

Her mind told her that but her heart was betraying her. She started to feel dizzy and that's when she decided to head back inside but after a step, she sat back down, and everything was went black.

When she woke up, Aurora could still remember the cold, and Eleanor ran to her,

"My Lady, you are finally awake we were so worried about you."

"How long have I been asleep for?"

"About a week My Lady."

Aurora was shocked at this revelation, she wanted a hot bath after passing out in the cold, "I need to take a bath."

"Are you sure you are able to walk My Lady?"

"Yes."

When she got to her bathhouse, Eleanor stood outside as per usual, and she walked in closing the door behind her.

Aurora climbed into the bath and sat down as she leaned against the wall, she had not realized that Caspian had walked in, and now standing in front of her she realized how much she missed him and could not help but smile.

He took her hand and pulled her to him, he let go and she was confused but he sat behind her and pulled her to sit in between his legs.

She leaned back into his arms, and she was a bit relieved that he and Nadia had not slept together, Aurora loved the feel of his hands all over her as he washed her so tenderly.

When they were done, he dried her so delicately, then wrapped a towel around him. He lifted her and after dressing in their nightgowns, she lay on his chest and felt safe. The way he held her showed her how he cherished her.

She would go to the ends of the world just to be with him.
