"I refuse," Lucas replies and tries to go back inside but is pulled at the arm by Tiana
"Even if you are the new Alpha King, you can not refuse him like that, it's a really important event. First of all, this event is organized by dad's best friend Alpha Jax, and second, this event is good for our company's image and for making alliances or connections. I know you are a great leader and a genius businessman but you also have to be a little social."
Lucas ignores her and she gets frustrated.
"Lucas, you have been the CEO of the company for the last five years yet you haven't disclosed your identity to the public. Don't you think rumors will start floating around? Even if there are no rumors you should still attend the event. You don't even know how worried mom is about you since either you do work all the time or lock yourself in this room."
"That does not concern me."
"Well, it should! Look, I know you miss your ex, but you need to move on. She probably has as well."
Lucas's face immediately darkens. He throws his sister's hand off his arm and walks angrily back inside the room he came out from.
Lucas clenched his fist and threw a punch at the wall leaving a hole in it.
His eyes landed on one of her portraits he had made.
She was wearing a bright red turtleneck, the fiery color matched her lipstick and was in stark contrast to her bright green eyes.
Her hair was styled into a curly beach wave, the long locks fell around her face and framed her beautiful and delicate features.
She was smiling.
Her smile could light up a night.
It used to light up his night... his whole world.
But now it's gone.
He couldn't help but wonder if she was smiling for someone else.
It wasn't impossible.
She was smart, kind, beautiful, honest, caring.
Who wouldn't want her, in his eyes she was perfect.
'I love you.'
The simple words she had said to him on numerous occasions. He took them for granted, at the time he was not of the age and can not detect the mate bond that's why he took her feelings for granted thinking she would always be there but when he came to know that she is his mate, she has already left him.
He hated the thought of her laying in the arms of another man and telling him that she loved him.
A low, but powerful growl echoed through the room, and in his black eyes, a golden ring started pulsing dangerously.
Since his wolf Nikos has started to take over, just the mere thought of her being with someone else is enough to send his wolf Nikos on a rampage.
After appeasing Tiana, Housekeeper Smith returned to the room.
He shuddered at the sight of the gaping hole in the wall, adjusted his clothes, and wiped the invisible sweat off his face.
"Alpha, delta Robert called to say your meeting with Micro Corp starts in an hour."
"I'll leave now, fix the wall for me. Also, tell the beta when he comes back from the mission to visit my office."
He tosses a last glance at the portrait before walking out.
'Freya, you better have not moved on. In this life and every life, you can only be mine.'
