Chapter 5 - Forbidden

"I already like you.", I state before continuing, "So having that in mind, I figured our kingdom should be more open to creatures that aren't always the safe bet, but when push comes to shove, they'll have your back more than any other creature."

"What creatures are we talking about?", both Cody and Yuma ask.

"Well, for one, Drows are the most hand length than another creature that's allied with this kingdom.", I point out.

"This kingdom only uses Drows as fascination but another time, they will pretend they don't exist.", I whisper.

"Well, of course we do!"

Whipping around, I see Lexa growling as Cody and Yuma quickly pull me behind them so I don't attack her.

"Drows shouldn't be trusted. After all, their own kind doesn't trust them.", she states.

"Maybe if we trusted them more, they wouldn't feel the need to not trust us.", I growled back.

"Don't make me laugh. Drows shouldn't be alive. They're just lucky that I'm not the queen.", she says before leaving.

Yuma turns back to me, while Cody looks at me; making me want to roll my eyes.

"Cody, who is that female you were talking to?", asked the king.

"Father, this is Yuma, my fiance.", he says.

"Absolutely not!", screams the queen.

"You should be careful, you won't want anyone knowing your business.", I state.

She whips around towards me and glares at me, but she says nothing because she knows I'm right. Smirking at the minor victory I got, I notice everyone else look so glaring at them they all turned away. Staying put when the queen points somewhere else, going towards the wall on the other side of Yuma, leaning against it as I wait for either the queen or the king to speak.

"I think what your mother means is that maybe you should've come to us about this before getting engaged with this female.", the king says.

"No, that isn't what I meant.", the queen snaps.

"Dear-"

"No, I won't allow our son to marry this gold digger.", she states.

"That's gold coming from you.", I point out.

"Why are you still here?", she demands.

"Because I can.", I state.

"Also, if we're talking about gold diggers, I'd advise you to shut up. After all, you only married the king because his mother wouldn't allow him to marry who he actually wanted.", I continue, "You're pissed, so now you'll make sure that 'your' son won't marry who he loves just because you're a bitter woman."

"Why-"

"Enough."

My eyes widen in surprise that the king actually said something, but they soon went back to normal when I saw the queen's face. She talks-

"Than-"

"I was talking to you.", the king states.

The queen gets angry, but she couldn't say anything, so she leaves; confused, I glance over at Cody to see he was also confused. Looking at the king, noticing his eyes flicker, but just as soon, it stops.

"I don't see a problem with you marrying her but next time warns me or something.", he says.

Then he turns towards me and says, "God, you've grown into a beautiful woman. You look so much like your grandmother, myself, and your mother. I will always love you, Ruth."

After he leaves, Cody and I turn to each other with a shocked expression upon our faces.

"Are you two okay?", Yuma asks.

"Ye- no. Not even close.", we say together.

"That's a little spooky.", she says as she shivers.

"What's spooky?", we ask.

"That, right there.", she points to each of us.

Looking at each other, we shrug before turning back to Yuma.

"So why aren't you two, okay?", she asks.

"Because one, our father, doesn't remember Ruth."

"And two, there's something going on with him and I don't think he actually knows what's going.", I finish.

"What's the plan then?", she asks.

"There isn't one, but Ruth will think of something.", Cody says.

"For now, just focus on your wedding. I'll keep you both updated on what's going on.", I state.

"What about your goal though?", they both ask.

"What about it?"

"You need to work on your goal.", Yuma says.

"If you start now, then later down the road it'll be easier.", Cody states.

"how am I supposed to do that?", I ask, pointing out the obvious.

"Start with what you know?", Yuma says more than as a question.

Humming, I head towards the exit when Lexa comes over and demands my attention, and since I really don't need anyone watching me, I actually pay attention to her, which shocked her.

"What do you need?", I ask.

"I need you to stay the fuck away from my family.", she says.

"Is that all?", I asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Don't mock me!", she snaps.

"Who's mocking you? It's definitely not me since I asked was is that was all?", I ask then state.

"Stop lying."

Rolling my eyes at her, I turn and leave. As I'm about to walk through the door she whispers,

"I can't have her anywhere near our father, or she'll know what's going on."

So that flicking of his eyes wasn't just for show then, definitely going to need to keep an eye out for any more of that from our father or other people. Heading towards Cody's room, once again dodges, weaves, and turns invisible from the guards so I don't get killed. Finally made it to his room and quickly slipped into the room with no one noticing; jogging over to his closet, moving all his clothes to the right side before typing in a six-code number as the small door unlocks. Smiling to myself since Cody can't see it nor can hear me press the code. Slipping inside the room, I glance around the room. Once my eyes land on the right side of the room, where the maps are, I dash towards them, hoping to find the right map. Moving maps around, I notice one on the floor, bending down to pick up, unscrolling it.

"Yes, now where is the place?"
