Chapter 8 - Anger & Yearning

"Ru-"

"Ruth!"

"What?"

"It's time to wake up."

"Five more minutes.", I moan out.

"I've told you-you shouldn't fall asleep at your desk."

"I just want five more minutes.", I cry out.

"Sorry, sweetie, but you can't have that five minutes."

"Ugh, fine I'm up.", I groan out.

Stretching, I hear my bones cracking. Once done; I look over at the person waking me up to see Mrs. Archer. Getting up and moving towards my closet, Mrs. Archer stays just in case I needed something which I normally don't. As I change, I hear her gasp, confused. I glance over at her and see her staring at my hip. Looking down, I see the same mark as before. Gasping, I quickly put my pants on and rush over to the desk and look for anything out of the ordinary. Groaning when I found nothing- grabbing the notebook along with my bag and head towards the kitchen with Mrs. Archer following behind.

"Morning sweetie.", Mrs. Elfling says.

"Morning.", I say.

Before anything happened, Mr. Archer gives me a plate of food so I head towards the empty table and begin eating while glancing at the book to see any new messages from the stranger, but then remember that I needed to talk with Cody and Yuma.

"Did you get the princess' breakfast done?", Mavie asks.

"There are a few more things we need to do.", Mr. Archer says.

"Hold up, you gave this nobody has food BEFORE our princess.", Alanis says.

Did she just call me a nobody? I heard that correctly. Shaking my head, I turn back towards the food when Celia in to my face as she says-

"Did you hear that? Why is a NOBODY eating BEFORE the princess?!"

"You have three seconds before I hurt you.", I growl.

She yelp as she trips over her feet as she rushes to get away from me, smirking. I pick up the plate and walking towards the other girls as they try to rush out of the kitchen. Seeing everyone else shaking their heads, but there's a smile on all their faces. Waving bye, I head off towards the training ground that hopefully he'll be there. Sensing someone coming; I become invisible and jump into the closest tree.

"Sir, I was wondering why you just don't tell your sister that you don't want to deal with her?"

"DON'T tell me something that isn't true! Also, change back into yourself before I throw you in the dungeon!", Cody snaps.

Ralph changes into Liam. Eyes go wide and dig my nails into the bark of the tree; I need to add another thing to the list. Watching him leave just as Ralph comes running; Cody looks up and then points, getting the message, hopping down. Ralph lets out a yelp before crossing his arms.

"You need to stop doing that.", Ralph states.

"Maybe you should be used to this.", I state.

"Children.", Cody says.

"I'm not a child!", we exclaim.

"Right... anyway, what are you doing here?", Cody says, then asks.

"Oh, that's right, so there's this person who would like to talk to you.", I state.

"Who is this person and how do we know we can trust them?", Ralph demands.

"Well... I think we can trust them.", I say hesitantly.

"That-"

"Calm down, Ralph. You're here to ask what day would be best for me and a few other people to talk to them, right?", Cody says then states.

"Yeah."

"Who is coming besides us?", he asks.

"Ralph and Yuma.", I state.

"I'll let you know what Yuma says. Is there anything else you want to ask me?", he says then asks.

"Yeah, there is. Have you heard of a Cheryl Wolfire?", I ask.

"How do you know that name?", he asks.

"Wait, are you telling me she's real?", I exclaim.

"Yeah, she's our grandmother.", he states confusedly.

"Do you think the library will have our family tree?", I ask.

"Sorry sis but no. I've tried looking but couldn't find it.", he explains.

"That's fine. I'm going into the village to find some books. Do you need anything from there?", I reply.

"No, I'm good, but I heard Yuma is bringing her sibling. Keep an eye out for them.", he says.

Nodding my head, I turn and head towards the village. Best part of being forgotten is that I don't have to hide what I look like. Walking past many stalls until I reach the area with the books. Just before I continued walking, a female calls out to me.

"Miss, do you want your future to read to you?"

"I don't really believe in that. Hopefully, I didn't offend you.", I reply.

"That's no problem. I'm always here if you want the reading.", they say.

Nodding my head at them, I check the first stall of books, hoping to find a book that has symbols in them, but no such luck. Moving to the next stall, the same thing happened along with the next three stalls- losing hope until I pass a stall hidden in the trees. Heading towards that stall, someone stops me.

"I'm sorry to bother you, but you should go to that stall."

"Why?", I ask, confused.

"That stall sells nothing useful.", they state.

"I'm sorry."

"They sell nothing usefully."

"Is it your call on what they want to sell?", I asked.

"Well, no."

"Then don't tell others not to go there.", I state before walking away.

"Hello, I was wondering if you could help me find a book with symbols.", I ask politely.

"What's the symbol you're looking for?", they ask.

"I don't actually know, I can show you what it looks like.", I state shyly.

They nod their heads, so I lower the pants down just enough to see the full symbol when they gasp and rush towards the pills of books. Putting my pants back, I glance around the area and see someone who looks somewhat close to what Yuma looks like. Hesitating since I didn't want to be rude to the stall person, biting my lip, hoping they would come around this area and behold, they walk towards these stalls. Feeling slightly better about not being rude to the stall person when they dropped an enormous book in front of me; startled, I move back a step.
