Feeling the slight difference from the forest to the empty area, I try to move back into the forest for it to only be gone.
"Great, just great Ruth.", I say.
Sighing, I move forwards since there isn't a way to turn around anyway- as I continue to walk the empty void, some colors change from greens to blues and then purples. Racking my brain for anything that either had blue or purples but nothing was standing out to me until a few pieces of structures appeared with some symbols or pictures of some type of animal. I stopped when I blast of magic hit me from all sides; holding still while fighting to keep my footing as it continues to push and pull at me. Hissing when something burns, pinpointing where the sensation is to feel it on my hip; groaning from the pain, I shift the waist of the shorts to see a symbol. Sensing someone behind me, I quickly turn to see an elder woman.
"Hello Ruth."
"How do you know me?", I ask.
"Why don't we go for a walk?", they say before walking ahead of me.
Jogging to catch up, so I don't lose them in this weird place; as we continued to walk, structures formed. Looking at the structure to see a castle, the woman walks towards the gates and I chase her behind.
"What in the world did I get myself into?", I ask myself.
"Welcome to your kingdom."
"I'm sorry, but you have me mistaken for someone else.", I say.
"Oh dear, I don't."
"I don't-"
"You inherited it."
"From who? Last I checked, my father is the king of Tevelia, along with my mother.", I state.
"Your father of course.", they say.
"I really don't understand. Are you saying that my father isn't the king of Tevelia?", I say.
"Your father's personality is split. Your father and his brother were more alike than their parents wanted them to be, so your uncle decided that there would only be one of them."
"What!"
"What do you mean? How is that even possible, let along no one noticing?", I ask.
"Calm down, sweetie."
"Don't tell me to calm down when you just told me my father's personality split and that my 'uncle' decided that there would be only one of them.", I growl out.
"I understand your confusion, but I need you to listen to me. I have little time so I need to tell you everything without you interrupting me.", they state.
Nodding my head since they sound serious; they lead us to a sitting area as tea appears- bitting my tongue in disgust at the sight of tea but trying not to let it show when the tea turned into smoothie, surprised; I grab the cup and sip it to taste- star fruit and strawberry.
"My name is Cheryl Wolfire, your grandmother. I wasn't the best mother with my sons. After all, I couldn't tell them apart, so your uncle, Wyatt- soon he envy your father and because I wasn't thinking that my enemies would've help my son with what he wanted but as you can see that wasn't the case.", she explains.
"At first I noticed nothing until it was too late- when I realized what happened Wyatt took your father's body over. I kept a close eye on them, but as time went on, I began coming sick. Wyatt is Lexa's father. Your father's name isn't William, it's actually Pamela Tina Wolfire. He was your mother, along with Cody's."
Gulping as I continue to listen to her as she tells what she can- "I know this is a lot to take in but I need you to restore not only this kingdom but also bring other kingdoms together."
"Your father wanted to unite kingdoms that people regarding as distrustful or beneath them. He hoped that if he untied those kingdoms, that others would see them as more than nothing or poor. But his brother didn't. Many people were on the side of your father, so he took it upon himself to erase your father, but he couldn't. He could only repressor him."
Keeping my mouth shut as I continue to realize that the signs- "Your brother and you have the same but different because you look like your actual father but they did not trust him among his people, but your father loved him. You almost didn't make it when you were born, being curse definitely didn't help any either."
Choking on my smoothie- they cursed me as a bloody baby! Who does that? Tuning back to my grandmother, she changes her wrist into scales just like I can, but I don't have control where I can do it at will.
"I'll be teaching you how to control your abilities that you got from me and help teach you more about how to run a kingdom. Questions?"
"A lot, actually. First, my uncle has control over my father's body. Two, I'm cursed.", I say.
She nods her head, so I continue.
"Do you know what a curse?"
She shakes her head, which makes me sigh, but I leap into the next question.
"What am I? You said I have abilities like you, but what are we?"
"I can't tell, but if you go to the library in the kingdom, use the knowledges you know and use that to find out."
"Why can't you tell me?", I ask, slightly scared.
"Because I'm running out of time."
"Time?", I ask.
"Yes, I'll find you and when I do, I'll be able to help but try to figure things out yourself. You're already on the right path."
"That makes little sense though!", I shout.
"I know it does but I can't straight out tell you anything besides your parents' past.", she explains.
"Okay, how will I know when you're around?", I ask.
"The magic you felt, it'll feel like that again."
Humming, I fade, slightly freaking out. I reach for her but she smiles and says-
"It's alright, you're waking up."
