Chapter 56 - Are you jealous?

"It's still same result. Nothing."

"Are you sure?" Alexander asked and Atticus nodded.

"F*ck!!" Alexander cursed.

"I don't know if this is useful but I found some marks on the dead troops." Bruce said and Alexander raised a brow.

"The ones I killed?" He asked and Atticus groaned inwardly. 'No, the ones I killed!' He sarcastically said in his head.

"Yes, the ones you killed."

"What marks?"

"I think they were more like symbols than marks. I mean each and every one of them had it tattooed on their skin. Maybe it's used to identify one another, in order to know if there is a doppelganger among them."

"So why are you telling me this now?" Alexander asked in a cold voice.

"Look, I'm not your errand boy or anything. I just thought this would be useful, besides it's never too late." He said and Alexander glared at him.

"Don't glare at me! I did nothing wrong. Ahh, I'll just visit your wife and tell her you're bullying me." He said and a more menacing aura filled the room. His gaze was cold and distant that no one dared approach him except for Atticus.

"Don't even dare." He said.

"Hey! Are you jealous?! I was only going to talk to her, I didn't say I'd marry her!" Atticus said and his aura returned back to normal.

'Phew! Seems my words had effect on him.'

"If you have anything to tell her, you can tell me. I'll deliver it to her." He said with a serious tone that Atticus had to rub his eyes twice to make sure he was not dreaming but when he checked, it was reality and not a dream.

'Are you really serious or this is just a joke?! But knowing Alex by now, he doesn't joke, that means he's serious!' He said in his head.

"Huh? Are you sure or...." He paused and checked his temperature. "No, you're perfectly fine, it means you're serious! Will you really deliver my message to her? That would be re -"

"Shut up! I'll deliver any message to her as long as you don't come close to her." He said again, shocking Atticus again. 'gods! Is this really Alexander?! Why is he spouting such words?!'

"O-okay. Just tell her you bullied me and also send my regards." He said and Alexander nodded as if it didn't matter what he was doing.

"Will you really do th -"

"What were the marks or more precisely, symbols?" Alexander said, cutting him off.

'Sigh...back to face reality.' Atticus said in his head.

"They were black scorpions and a black dagger tattooed on their skin." He said and Alexander's curiosity drove even more.

"I want you to find any kingdom that has that symbol and bring the information back at my kingdom." He said.

"You're leaving?!" Atticus asked but he didn't respond.

"Oh well, I'm taking my leave." Atticus said and left before Alexander could say a word.

His mind reflected to the words he had said earlier and he knotted his brows. "What's wrong with me? Was Atticus right? Am I jealous?" He asked himself but shook his head immediately.

"No, I'm thinking things too much." He convinced himself but it didn't work. He kept on having that possessive feeling and he didn't know why and how it happened.

"What's happening?!" He groaned and closed his eyes. He opened them again and desperation filled those black eyes.

"I need to talk to her. It's being a long while, I haven't spoken with her. I hopes she doesn't get angry at me." He said and a glint of sadness flashed across his eyes. If anyone were to look at him that moment, they wouldn't believe it was the cold and arrogant prince they knew. He just looked vulnerable at that moment that one would mistake him for a lost and lonely lamb.

He used a hood to cover his face and stepped out of the dark room. He headed towards a tomb and lazily sat there, looking at it and shoving away the dry leaves that were on it.

"I'm sorry. I had not come to visit you. I hope you won't get angry." He said and chuckled.

"I got married and I know you are aware, maybe that's why you don't visit me in my dreams anymore. I'm sorry, father was the one who brought in the proposal and I didn't know why I couldn't decline and I strangely agreed.

He had brought in many proposals, but hers was the one I accepted, but I don't regret it because she had never been clingy and she seems to understand me and accept me for who I am." He said as his hands caressed the tomb.

"But don't worry. I don't love her, I'm only performing my husbandly duties. You are the only one I'll ever love, even if you're gone. When you left, I had turned cold and distant, I had turned my heart into a cold ice unable to melt, so I'm sure. I won't love her and never will. She's only my wife and just that." He said and trembled. He was forcing back the tears in his eyes. He couldn't help but reminisce the bitter memories about her death. He couldn't protect her and he regretted it. He was supposed to be by her side on that day but he chose to be ignorant and she eventually ended up getting killed.

"I-i'm sorry I couldn't protect you. I wasn't able to hold you by my side that's why I've decided that I wouldn't let anyone dear to me get hurt again. I would find a way to protect my wife, even if it ends up killing me. I would give it my all, I wouldn't lose anyone again. Never! Not in this life." He said and rested his head on the tomb.

After sitting for about two hours, he finally stood up to take his leave.

"I'm leaving now, I'll make sure to keep my promise....I'll also visit you soon." He said and kissed the tomb one more time before he left.
