Chapter 17 - Cold

"Who was that boy?" He asked causing Elen's mouth to part in disbelief. Why does he want to know?

"Uhm ...he's my best friend, we've been friends since childhood, your highness." Elen said causing the prince's brows to crease. It seems he was displeased with what he heard.

"Why did you hug him?" He asked again, with a menacing cold aura, that would make anyone feel intimidated.

"He's my friend, your highness." She said not tearing her gaze from his face.

He held placed her face in between his palm and then spoke. "You're my wife now and I don't want you getting close to any man. Understand?" He said with that intimidating aura.

Elen flinched back in fear. Why was he suddenly acting cold? Is this what he truly is like? How can a person with such beauty as his, be this cold and intimidating.

"Yes, your highness. I understand." She finally said.

The intimidating aura that enveloped the carriage suddenly dissolved, like it wasn't there in the first place.

The carriage was silent for a long while before Elen finally broke the deafening silence.

"How far is Lucrain from my kingdom, your highness?" She asked.

"A day." He answered. Elen noticed that he doesn't speak too much, he only speaks when necessary. She also noticed that there was something different about this man. His face was expressionless, though it was mesmerizing. You can hardly figure out a thing from that face of his . His aura was also intimidating, and surprisingly, she didn't feel much fear towards him, as she expected it to be.

"And again....call me Alexander when we're alone." He added.

"Alex..." She said causing the man to crease his brows.

"I said call me Alexander not Alex." He said, he seemed displeased that she called him Alex.

"Okay your hig- I mean, Alexander." She said and Alexander laid his head back on the seat.

Elen's eyes were starting to feel heavy. She so much wanted to sleep but as much as she wanted it, she couldn't do it when he husband was still very well awake. She didn't want to be addressed as a sleeping log.

"You can take a rest if you're feeling a bit sleepy." He said, making Elen to subconsciously open her mouth in disbelief. Can he read her thoughts?! How on earth did he know? Or maybe he could tell that the journey is quiet long and she's starting to feel drowsy.

"I'm okay, Alexander." She said and the man didn't say anything anymore.

She was really starting to get bored. He wasn't even doing anything to start a conversation, and it looked like he wasn't even going to. She's not used to being quiet like this before!!

...

After hours of riding in the carriage, they arrived Lucrain. The view was very spectacular. It was as if they were in paradise. This kingdom was really one of a kind. It looked like a haven for peace. Elen could already imagine how the palace would look.

Few hours after seeing many spectacular places, the carriage stopped and Elen guessed that they've arrived. But before she could ask, he already spoke.

"This is the palace, my quarter is a bit far from here, so we would have to take a quick ride." He said making Elen sighed. She was already tired and they still had a long way to go?!

"Shouldn't we meet your parents first?" She asked.

"It can wait, we'll meet them tomorrow...and besides, I can see you're tired already." He said as straightforward as ever.

Elen nodded and glanced back at him, his eyes were closed with creased brows. It was as if he was calculating something.

Her mind drifted to the thought of their first night. She wasn't ready yet. She just couldn't do it! Maybe she'll tell him about it when their alone.

After another long drive, they finally reached his quarters. Elen didn't know when she breathed a sigh of relief. She just hoped that this was their final destination because she was already starting to weaken from all of the travelling. However the carriage didn't move and she guessed that they finally have reached their destination.

Alexander got down from the carriage and turned to the other side, where his wife sat. He held out his hands and Elen gently placed it on his

"Let's go Helena." He said, shocking Helena. He actually knew her name? Well, she knew he would know it but she started doubting it when he addressed her as 'princess.'

She nodded and she stepped out of the carriage. Her knees were wobbly because she hadn't used them for hours.

Of course, he could see her wobbly knees and then in the next second he scooped her up in his arms and carried her.
