Chapter 19 - Alex

Elen woke up the next morning. She stood up and surveyed the room. Why does her room looks different? Where is she? She thought and suddenly everything that happened last night started to form in her head. Her wedding, the prince, everything gushed in so fast.

She is married now, and she's no longer with her parents anymore. She now has a husband. She should be happy about this, but knowing the situation that led to this, she could only shut her eyes tightly.

She's was woken from her subconscious state. A hoarse but sweet voice called her name, his voice held no emotions, and it was then Elen realized a man on the bed beside her. It was her husband.

"G-g-good morning, Alex." She said, causing his face to get quite displeased. Oh no! She almost forgot, he didn't liked to be called 'Alex'. But why? Shouldn't he be glad that he was being called with a short form. She at least, loved it when people dear to her called her 'elen' and not 'Helena'. So why...? Or maybe, she isn't someone dear to him? The thought of that made her heart ache. Why? Why was she feeling this way? She only just met him yesterday, she shouldn't feel this way towards him!

Elen pressed her lips tightly as she stared into those emotionless eyes. She took a deep breath and finally spoke.

"I'm sorry...I didn't mean...Uhm, forgive me Alexander." She said, but the man didn't reply and he stared at her as if he was trying to figure out some difficult puzzle.

He stood up from the bed so elegantly. Elen could only admire this god standing before her. Though his back was facing her, he still looked mesmerizing, with his tussled hair.

"Freshen up, we're leaving to see my parents few hours from now...I'll call some maids to help you out, when you're done, you can come to the dinning hall to have breakfast. I'll be waiting for you." He said, straightforward as ever, Elen reached out to call him, but before her hands could touch him. He left without uttering another word.

She took in a deep breath. She was the one who agreed to this marriage. Even if she didn't have a choice at that time, she still agreed anyway. She was in this all by herself and she'll have to stay strong! She can't simply break down because of his cold attitude, but if he kept on going this way, will she be able to resist? Those were the thoughts that kept swirling in her head.

Her mind drifted back to what her mother had told her on her wedding day. "One thing you should know is that, no matter how angry your husband is, never get angry at him too, if not...it'll turn to a neverending story. Instead just embrace him, till his anger settles down. Don't ever make him even more angry than he already is, and also don't try to push him away... Do you understand?" Her mother told her. She now realized why her mother told her those things. Their marriage isn't even up to a week and she's feeling he's already disgusted by her presence. If he didn't want to marry her, why the hell did he agree to the marriage?!!

"Good morning, your highness." A voice jolted her. It was one of the maids that attended to her yesterday. She now understood that this maid was going to be taking care of her needs, but she still missed the maid she had grown up with, by her side.

Elen didn't say anything and just stared at the maid standing before her. She didn't want anyone bathing her, when she's not familiar with that person.

"What's your name?" Elen asked.

The maid was surprised. No one ever asked of any maids name, even if they were personally serving them. This kingdom believed that, they were slaves and their names were unimportant, so they just addressed them with their title.

"Didn't you hear me clearly?" Elen said, her voice firm but calm.

The maid let go of her dazed state and glanced at the princess.

"F-f-flora...my name's Flora, your highness."

"Okay, Flora. I'd like to have my bath on my own today. When I'm done I'll inform you to take me to meet his Highness. Understand?" Elen said and the maid nodded, with a hint of hesitation in her eyes.

Elen went into the bathroom, and in no time, she came out. The maid was waiting for her with a panicked face and Elen already knew why she was panicking.

Flora helped the princess dress up and when she was done, she stepped out of the room with the princess, and some guards trailed behind them.

Flora led her to the dinning hall and there he was, sitting majestically like the prince he was. His long legs were crossed and his face was blank, his eyes held no emotions in them. Somehow, Elen didn't feel the fear she felt towards him the day before. Even though, he was exuding that menacing aura, she still didn't feel the fear that she expected to feel.

They finally neared him and a slight smile curved on his lips. He took her hands and led her to a seat beside him. He sat at the end while Elen sat near the chair beside him.

He dished out some food on her plate and Elen gave him a quick smile. She started eating and he leaned closer to her ear, causing the eating Elen to completely turn immobile.
