Elen was awake and her face looked terrified. It was as if she saw a ghost. She was sweating profusely as if she ran a marathon race.
She just saw a terrifying image in her dream. She seldom dream and whenever she has a dream, there is a high chance it happens. The previous year, she had a dream that she would get married, and in the dream she objected to the marriage but she eventually got married to the man although, she could not see his face clearly... She had another dream where she and Amir had a heated argument and they didn't talk to each other for months. Her dream came to pass and both her and Amir had lost contact. If not for the intervention of both her parents, she would have lost her friend forever.
She needed to do something to alter this event from happening. In her dream, she saw herself surrounded by fire but she was not burning because Alexander shielded her with his body and it seemed to her that he was in pain. She could see him fighting and protecting her from the fire. Another confusing thing she saw was that his body didn't seem to burn but he was in pain. She couldn't actually decipher that part because she was now focused on the big problem. How to stop that event from happening. The only explanation that could result into a fire outbreak was war. If there was war, everything would be destroyed and then her dream....
No! She would never let that happen! She would find a way to stop any war from happening! As much as she's still angry with Alexander, he still protected her in her dream and she could tell how much he cared for her even if he didn't show it.
She was his wife now and she couldn't do anything to change it. She was going to accept anything that comes her way, she would accept anything he does because she was in this marriage with him. They were in this together and she'll stand by him, no matter what he says or does!
There was a strong will and determination that registered on her face. Her maids helped her bath and they served her breakfast in her chamber. She looked around for Alexander but she could not find him.
In the hallway she saw Robert but it seemed that he was avoiding her. She couldn't understand why?because he never hid away from her. If it were the others, she would understand that they were not used being around her, but Robert was an exception. He was always finding ways to talk to her. So why is he avoiding her??
She wouldn't let this opportunity slip her hands. She had to ask him about her husband's whereabouts!!
"Robert." She called out, loud enough for him to hear.
He reluctantly pulled his head towards the princess and strode forward.
"Good morning, your highness." He said and Elen smiled.
"Where is His highness." She interrogated.
"Uhm...I don't know, h-h-he didn't come back? I think he w-w-w-went out for some work. I think he'll be back soon." He said, and Elen's brows creased. He never stuttered when he speaks. He's always straightforward whenever he talks, so why does it seem that he's hiding something from her?
Elen narrowed her gaze on him and he held his breathe. He just hoped that she believes him, because this princess wasn't someone to be fooled so easily. When she nodded he subconsciously let out a sigh of relief. 'Thay was close! I didn't know if I would be able to resist spilling the truth to her!' He thought inwardly as he walked hastily to avoid another call from the princess.
He was lost in his thoughts that he bumped into Finn.
"Are you blind or something?" Finn pouted.
"What's with the rudeness? Did you have a fight with someone?" Robert commented.
Finn shook his head in disbelief and was about to walk past him when he grabbed his arm.
"I just escaped from the hands of death today." Robert said as he rubbed his palm together.
"Huh? Death? Who could kill the mighty you? If that was possible I would have gotten rid of you a long time ago." Finn joked dryly and Robert chuckled.
"I would love to see you try...that would be very entertaining right?" Robert said, his eyes were now glimmering with excitement and thrill.
"Ugh!! Just tell me how you escaped death. I'm getting impatient, I want to know this person who could actually kill you." Finn said
"It's the princess." Robert said with all the seriousness in his tone and Finn choked out.
"Princess? Don't be ridiculous!"
"I meant that she's trying to mentally kill me." Robert said.
"She's already starting to suspect we're hiding something from her.... I really don't know what to tell her the next time she asks about his Highness." He added.
"We're not going to tell her the truth. We'll find a way out of this before his highness returns." Finn said.
"Perhaps, that boring leader of ours can help us." Robert said
"That's true, I think we should meet with him."
"Alright, let's go then."
The two went to seek for their leader and it didn't take long for them to find him.
...
"Do you know where he went to?" Elen was speaking with Linda. She was feeling a little bit bored earlier and she decided that she'll go visit her sister-in-law. Gwen was not home so she was alone with Linda.
"No. Alexander doesn't tell anyone where he goes to, and I'm not surprised he didn't tell you anything either." Linda said and Elen nibbled the insides of her lips. She was starting to worry. How could he not inform anyone where he was going? Did he really feel the need not to let anyone know? It's not done that way!! She was his wife and she had the right to know of his whereabouts.
She heaved a deep sigh and before she could talk, Gwen stepped inside.
"Hello, princess Gwen."
"Hi, Helena. I hope you're doing well."
"Yes, thank you."
They had a long conversation. They talked and laughed until it was twilight. She loved spending time with these women. Their conversations made her forget about her worries but only her knew that she would start thinking about Alexander once she reaches her quarters.
"We'll visit some other time." Linda spoke.
"I'll be expecting."
They bid her goodbye and gave her guards to escort her back. Elen had not seen any of Alexander's men. Why were they hiding from her? She knew something was fishy, but she couldn't decipher what it was.
She finally reached her quarters and hastily took her bath and went to bed alone again. She was starting to worry even more? Where is he? She thought.
"Alexander, please come back...I miss you." She subconsciously said and drifted to sleep.
