Jessica's POV
"What are you looking at? Get to work!" Upon hearing my voice, all of them scurried away and went to sit at their desks to type loudly on their computers.
"Move!" I stood behind a guy and whispered from right behind him, threateningly. The poor boy was frightened, he moved away from his desk in the blink of an eye and I started to hack the system of the warehouse.
After all, I didn't major in IT for nothing, things came in handy at times. I hacked the security system of the warehouse and had to go through many settings so the alarms won't go off when things go wrong.
When I was done, I stood up and walked out of the room before taking one last glance at the room. For a mere second, I felt pity for those guys who might be seriously injured or die from the impact of the bomb.
The warehouse was too big for the bomb to blow away everything, so our target was only the weapons. Nonetheless, they would be affected just as much. I then turned around and walked out of the way, outside the warehouse.
A few minutes after I got into the van, the rest of the teammates returned and after the roll call and checking no one was left inside the warehouse, I pressed the button and I could feel the car shake from the impact. It felt like an earthquake just took place.
After watching the first floor of the restaurant engulfed in flames, the driver turned on the ignition and got out of the place as quickly as we could.
Well, that can give the old man a little surprise, right? I mean the best part hasn't even started, he'd better be patient and wait for us to give him an even more pleasant surprise.
We then headed towards the port where Luke would be waiting for us. He was supposed to do the mission on his own but since our work was done faster than we predicted, I've decided to give them a little hand.
Throughout the ride, all of us changed to our protective suits and checked our weapons several times so that nothing would go wrong. When we arrived at the port, I got out of my van and walked towards the black van which was parked next to ours.
After opening the door, I hastily walked inside, locking the door once I was in. When I was in, everyone's eyes were on me and I just waved at them. Luke seemed to be going through the plans again and I allowed him to continue with the wave of my hands. I then listened intently to the plan.
"Is it over already?" Luke asked once he was done talking and everyone went back to their places to check their weapons and got out of the van to be in their positions.
"Yep." I said, popping the 'p' and sat next to him.
"Are you going to take part in this mission?" He turned his attention back to the laptop infront of me as he asked.
"Duh! Why do you think I am dressed and bothered to come here? If you need extra forces, my men are waiting in the van, all set and ready." I poured myself a cup of water and drank it.
"Alright, I will let you know then." He remained silent as he typed on the keyboard and few screens popped up, showing the positions of our men around the site. I looked at my wristwatch and we had an hour before the ship would arrive.
"So, what do I do?" I asked him when he seemed less occupied.
"Hm?" Well, maybe not. His attention is somewhere else.
"Oh! You can just follow me." He answered before I could repeat the question and I nodded my head.
"Alright." I hummed and walked away, since he looked pretty occupied with the files.
"Here, take a look." I turned around and walked towards him who had his hand stretched out, handing me a file.
"What is it?" I asked, taking the file and flipping the pages. The file had a clear layout of the map of the surroundings, inside the ship which would be loaded with the weapons and list of the weapons inside.
I stared at him with wide eyes, surprised at how he could gather all of this confidential information.
"Aright, get ready. It's almost here." I looked at him with furrowed brows when I could see a large ship approaching the port from the laptop.
"On it!" I then hurriedly put on the protective suit, checked the weapons, tied my hair in a ponytail and got ready.
"Ready?" Luke asked as he stood a few inches away from the door of the van, dressed in a protective suit and weapons in his hands.
"When the ship anchors, we will get in and kill everyone in there. Is it clear?" He warned me one last time before he signaled and opened the door. He was out of sight in the blink of an eye as he was already ready to get on the ship.
"We will charge in three." I heard Luke's voice through the ear piece and I nodded my head.
"One!" I could see Luke's hand gesture from a couple meters away and I raised my weapon to shoot everyone that was busy unloading the weaponry.
"Two!"
"Three!"
On three, gunshots were heard as everyone who was in their positions started to fire. The place was filled with people screaming and gunshots that sounded like music to my ears.
Shouldn't they have been ready for this outcome when they decided to go against me? Those who don't know where they stand will always be put into the position they belong to.
I took my time as I exchanged bullets and aimed at everyone who held guns in their hands and started to fire in our direction. Upon the impact, I and Luke had to take a few steps back but with the snipers at the back, there was nothing to worry about.
Well, maybe they aren't to be trusted.
I cursed as I was cornered by people who had knives and rifles in their hands. I had long separated from Luke and now, I was trapped in the middle of the circle of a crowd. They were smirking at me with disgusting yellow teeth and I barely controlled myself from puking on their ugly faces.
"We can negotiate about this, what do you guys say?" I asked them sheepishly and they only gripped tighter on their weapon as they eyed each other, as if daring them.
As I had my weapons down and had my puppy eyes, I saw Luke hiding himself behind a large box full of weapons. I internally sighed in relief but tried my best not to show it on my face.
In an instant, gunshots were heard and people who were standing infront of me now lay on the floor, bleeding and lifeless.
"Are you ok?" Luke asked as he jogged towards me, after getting a new pair of rifles and passing me one.
"Yeah, thanks." We then went to the other part of the ship and killed all of them.
Everything was over in twenty minutes and I could finally get my guard down. Luke and I had our weapons down as we stood in the middle of the ship, a river of blood coating the floor of the ship.
"Get all the weapons and transport them to our warehouse." Luke ordered through the ear-piece and our fellows responded with 'yes's.
We were about to get off the ship when a gun went off. All of us were on guard all over again and I turned around to the sound of the gunshot to find a gun aimed at me. Without even giving me a chance, the man whose face was smeared with dry blood pulled the trigger. I was supposed to dodge it but I couldn't as my feet were glued to the floor.
"Move!" Luke yelled over his shoulder, upon witnessing the scene, and pushed me out from the place and both of us fell from the ship. Before my face hit the sea, I felt a sting in my lower calf.
After falling into the sea, I tried to swim but I couldn't. The bullet had already pierced through my leg and it was bleeding, scarlet red blood mixing with blue water. No matter how much I tried, I couldn't swim and I kept on drowning.
Luke was nowhere in sight and I so desperately wanted to call out for help, call his name but I couldn't. The water started to suffocate me as I sunk to the deeper part of the sea.
Am I gonna die, just like this?
Shaking my head upon the thought, I swung my arms underwater, trying to at least above the surface of the water to fill my lungs. I was running out of air and I started to get dizzy, darkness and stars blurring my vision.
After moments of struggling, it was more painful to struggle to live so I gave up, letting the waves of the sea swallow me. But before I closed my eyes, someone's face popped into my mind and had I not been drowning, I would have slapped my face to remember him at that moment.
The very person who popped into my head was a smiling Luciano Ivanov, not my best friend Rosalind, not my uncle and certainly not the Scotts.
And at that moment, had I realized I've fallen for him somehow.
