Chapter 6 - DINNER TOGETHER

A woman has just finished putting her son into bed. For a moment she kissed the five-year-old boy's forehead before she decided to get out of bed.

Just as she finished closing the door to her room, her eyebrows immediately shot up when she saw one of the maids who was tidying things up, which made Mara without a second think walk toward her.

"Berlin, are they home yet?"

"You mean Mr. John and Miss Via?"

"Yes, Berlin."

"Not yet, Madam."

"Oh, okay then thank you, Berlin."

"Yes, you're welcome. I'll excuse myself to go back first, yes, Madam."

"Okay, Berlin."

Now Mara is even more worried because it's 00.00 pm and the two people haven't come back yet, so the woman immediately rushes to find her phone, which is not sure where it is now.

After being found without thinking, the woman immediately looked for the contact number of one of them until finally the call was connected, but three times no one had answered which made Mara scared.

"Why aren't you answering my calls, John?"

"You're just worrying me."

Then Mara tried to call her daughter's contact number, which turned out to be without waiting for a long time to be connected, making the woman immediately heaved a sigh of relief with tears in her eyes.

"Hello, Mom."

"Oh my God, you guys just make me anxious."

"What's the matter, Mom?"

"Why aren't you home yet?" Mara asked while wiping her tears. "And it's past midnight."

"I'm sorry, Mommy. While we were on our way, I suddenly felt hungry so ..."

The woman who had understood immediately lowered her head and sighed before finally nodding her head.

"Okay, that's fine. I can understand, then be careful on the way, okay?"

"Hmm ... well, Mom."

"Where's your dad?"

"Yes," said Via. "Would you like to talk to him?"

"No need, I just wanted to ask."

"Okay, see you later."

"See you later."

The call had ended with Mara chewing her lip while wiping her tears. The woman was really worried, but all of that disappeared in an instant after learning the news that her husband and daughter were fine.

"That's enough."

On the other hand, Via is currently daydreaming, making someone beside her raise his eyebrows.

"Via," John called. "What do you think?"

"Mommy ..."

"What's with her?"

"It looked like mom was crying," the girl replied. "I feel sorry for her

for worrying."

"No, you're innocent. Don't blame yourself."

"But Daddy---" Via hung up on her words, the girl saw John who shook his head, making her who knew about it immediately sighed.

Because it made her immediately lower his head with a different feeling. Meanwhile, John is currently rubbing his daughter's shoulder intending to calm her down.

"Don't worry, mommy is fine. She'll understand, I'll let Dad talk to her later."

"Thank you, Dad."

"You're welcome."

Although there is still tightness in her heart, Via is already feeling a little relieved. The girl turned her face the other way looking at the highway that was currently crawling so densely.

Her memory returned to the incident when she went with Aldera. The regret is still there, if only she had refused his invitation at that time, maybe she ... never mind.

"You have to forget him, Via. He's not yours."

Somewhere at this time, a man was in his room. He was struggling with some work on his laptop when he heard a knock on the door which made him turn to the source.

"Who?"

"It's me," said someone from outside the room. "May I come inside?"

"Come in, the door is unlocked."

A few moments later the sound of the door opening was heard making the man who knew it immediately sighed.

"Why didn't you leave the room earlier?"

"Sorry, do you have guests?"

"Yes, daddy's co-worker."

"Oh, sorry I was working on something, so I didn't have time to leave the room."

Hearing that made his sister shake her head before finally speaking again.

"You haven't had dinner yet, Bro. Take a rest first, you can continue your work after you finish eating."

"Vin, you know how I am, right?"

"But I don't want you to get sick just because you're working too hard. Tell me what, let me carry on with your work and you can eat in peace."

Van's gaze at his sister was completely different, so now Vin who saw it immediately smiled.

"Okay, then please help me, okay, Vin."

"Ready, you don't have to worry," said the man before finally pushing his brother out of the room. "Then you'd better go to the kitchen now, mom and dad are still there."

"Hmm... fine, but please finish my job well, okay, Vin."

"Yes, Bro. You don't have to worry about that anymore, I will solve it soon."

"But you have to keep doing it right, Vin."

"Yes, Brother. Never mind, you'd better go to the kitchen immediately."

Van who heard that immediately sighed and shook his head before finally walking toward the kitchen with a smile that never faded.

Once there, he saw his parents with a man, which made him clear his throat immediately, so that everyone at the dinner table focused their attention on him.

"Night Dad, Mom." Then Van pulled up a chair to sit right next to a man who had been silent all this time while watching him with a smile. "Sorry, I think I interrupted all of your conversations."

"No, Van. Dad is happy that you finally want to get out of the room," said the man, which made everyone around him smile too. "Oh, yes, this is our first child that I've been telling you about. Come on Van, introduce yourself. His Dad's co-worker, anyway, has helped our family a lot."

Of course hearing, this made Van immediately turn to the side and smile before finally kissing the back of the man's hand.

"Hello, Uncle. My name is Van. Thank you for helping our family all this time."

"Yes, you're both Van. Shouldn't we be helping each other all this time?"

The conversation continued until finally Vin who was in the room immediately stretched his muscles because he was tired. Finally, the young man had finished his brother's work so now he got up from his seat to get out of the room.

But when he just opened the door, it turned out that Van was already in front of the room making Vin surprised to see him.

"Oh my God, Brother just surprised me."

"Where are you going?"

"Of course back to the room," said Vin with raised eyebrows. "Why?"

Van who heard that immediately frowned with his hands folded across his chest before finally looking into the room and then looking back at the person in front of him this time.

"Have you finished it?"

"See for yourself," said Vin. "Never mind, I'm already sleepy. You should also rest right away, Bro. Don't sleep too late or I'll tell mom and dad!"

"Now you're good at threatening, huh. Even though you used to always ask me for help when you were little."
