Chapter 14 - Bunny Conflict

Mana core refinement on the other hand was related to cultivating the mana core to become stronger and larger so it could absorb mana faster and store more.

This made it possible to cast higher-level spells without running out of mana.

The Lebenoire family was different compared to the rest of the mages worldwide. Their mana core was silver which wasn't among the six colors of mana cores that existed.

This was why they were the only mages that existed in the world that could use transformational magic and their spells were also the combat enhancement types that had been passed down from generation to generation.

Their power grading system was also different from the rest of the world since their mana cores were different.

Landria on the other hand had a silvery blue colored mana core which made it possible for him to cast normal spells and spells only privy to the Lebenoire family as well.

Right from the start, he had been an abnormally talented genius that had never appeared in the history of the Lebenoire family.

Currently, he was using the mana concentration in the air to refine his mana core which was always a long cultivation process. Since his mana core was currently rhombus shaped with two layers, this made him an intermediate-level mage.

His next aim was to refine his core to be shaped like a sphere but he still had a long way to go since there were still five more layers to be refined before he could achieve the next level.

'It will take forever before I can refine the third layer...' Landria sighed as he noticed how slow the refinement process was, due to the mana concentration in the environment.

'Well at least it's still something,' Even though it was disheartening, he was glad he could still make use of it.

He believed if the incident with his family had never happened he would have achieved the third layer of the intermediate level already.

While the intermediate level wasn't considered very powerful in the world of mages, for someone of Landria's age it was more than impressive.

Landria remained in the same position for about five hours before finally standing to his feet. While he would have liked to remain here for the rest of the day, he still had to deal with the corpse of the magical beast he had slain.

"The flesh of this one isn't edible… I should find something significantly weaker and smaller to kill," Landria thought out loud while staring at the corpse of the dark yeti.

He had promised to bring home some meat so he didn't want to disappoint. He looked up ahead and shook his head.

He had only gone a little beyond the said safe zone and already encountered a creature as strong as this.

If he went further, he would encounter even more powerful magical creatures. He didn't want to end up in another battle since he had already achieved his main objective for the day.

Turning around, he decided to head back into the safe zone.

Although it would prove difficult for him to find a creature to kill when the other squads of hunters had cleared the area of the ones they found and sent the rest into hiding, Landria still decided he was going to make sure he got one with edible flesh.

"Muscle Enhancement Level Two," As Landria voiced out, his snow-white hair blew upwards.

His skin glowed up as his body frame turned a bit bulkier than before with his arms and legs becoming more muscular.

Landria leaned towards the ground and grabbed the arms of the Dark Yeti's corpse before pulling it off the ground. The Dark Yeti's corpse was close to thirteen feet in length and weighed almost a ton yet it was lifted casually by Landria like it weighed nothing.

He turned the corpse of the creature sideways and placed it across his shoulders before straightening his posture. He began walking in the direction of the safe zone after completing this action.

The spell he had just used was another combat spell related to the household of royal bodyguards in the Razledania Kingdom, The Lebenoires.

Landria had learned this spell since he was seven from his father who explained to him that it was a physical enhancement spell.

They were four levels of this particular spell but Landria's body could only handle levels one and two right now.

The Lebenoires were the only mages known to engaged in rigorous physical training daily and that was because they were many spells like this that could enhance physical capabilities but without proper body strength making use of some would have adverse effects on the body.

Every morning since the time he regained consciousness, Landria would engage in physical exercises and the kids would wonder why such acts were needed when he could just blast his enemies away with magic. They had no idea that this was the reason.

-

It took hours of moving around in the safe zone before Landria finally found the trail of a creature which from the looks of the prints it left on the ground, seemed edible.

Landria could tell it wasn't far away so he dropped the corpse of the Dark Yeti and decided to follow the trail.

He deactivated the muscle enhancement spell not wanting to spend more mana than he was supposed to. Grabbing his bow and an arrow from behind, he held them in front of him while slowly walking forward trying not to make a sound.

In the next thirty seconds, he spotted the brown furry tail of a creature pointing out from behind a seventy feet tall tree up ahead. Landria pulled the bowstring with the wooden arrow mounted on it and slowly moved towards the left, trying to get the creature's head in his line of sight.

He finally spotted it after a few movements and just as he thought it was a mixed bunny. It was close to five feet in height and had a black circular mark on its forehead.

Landria wasted no time in taking a shot at the creature the moment he got the chance. The wooden arrow tip lit up in flames the moment he released it from the string.

Zhhwwooosshhh! Zhhwwoossshhh!

Two whooshing sounds rang out as two arrows slammed into the body of the creature in the next instant.

Landria's blazing arrow hit the forehead of the creature, drilling straight into its skull while the other hit its chest.

"Meeuuhh!"

The creature cried out in agony before falling to the ground and breathing its last while blood oozed out of the points of impact.

"Hmm?" Landria exclaimed as he turned to stare in the direction where the second arrow had come from.

"Yes! we finally got one after so long," A loud yell of excitement was heard from the far left within a heap of bushes.

"Arlan you did great," A feminine voice was heard as well.

In the next instant three youngsters filed out of the heap.

"Uh, there's someone there," The one with a machete voiced out as he spotted Landria a few feet away.

Landria had already seen them. The one in their middle was holding onto a bow which proved he was the one who took the second shot. The one standing on the left was a lady who looked to be in her twenties just like the other two.

"Snow-white hair, isn't that the child mage?" Arlan voiced out with an expression of confusion.

He then spotted the bow in Landria's hand.

They all looked forward and noticed another arrow lodged in the head of the creature.

Landria arrived in front of the mixed bunny and squatted before pulling out the arrows from its body.

The three quickly stepped forward.

"Don't touch our loot," The one with the machete voiced out.

"Since we both shot at it, we can share it fifty-fifty, I have no use for the entire corpse anyways," Landria voiced out as he stood to his feet.

"Huh? What do you mean by that? We fired first which means the entire loot belongs to us," The lady voiced out with an intense glare while sticking her finger out.

"Yes child, scoot away and go play somewhere else. The townfolks may be scared of you but we're not," The other man with a machete voiced out as well.

"Clara, Braun, I don't think..." Arlan was about to speak but his teammates interrupted.

"It's our loot Arlan, he has no share," Braun voiced out with a strong tone.

"As you can see, we both fired at the creature and hit the target. At the very least each side should share it fifty-fifty... I can lower my share and settle for twenty-five since there's four of us," Landria voiced out soundly, trying to reason with them.

He didn't want to let, Mara, Viktor, Orion, and Mira down after saying he was going to bring some meat home.

"Shut up and scram kid before we take action against you," Braun voiced out while flashing his machete.

"*sigh* I didn't want to do this before but you leave me no choice," Landria voiced out before proceeding to squat and pick up the almost five feet tall bunny.

"What do you think you're doing?" Clara yelled out with a look of hostility.
