Chapter 4 - Boundaries

Meredith is in the kitchen doing the dishes when Matthew and his lover step out of the room. He sees the lady off at the door.

"Hey now I'm less busy, can we talk?" Mathew smirks as he sits on the couch and sets his legs on the centre table.

Meredith rolls her eyes as she wipes her hand with a napkin.

She walks out of the kitchen to speak to the man slut she is living with.

"First of all If you merit respect then I require the same from you." Meredith chuckles giving him a deadly glare. He wondered what she was talking about.

"Now that I'm staying in here, there are going to be some rules and boundaries?" Meredith scowls as Mathew shakes his head in disbelief how in the devilish did he end up with a bitter young lady in the same apartment?

Who wastes no time to show how much she detests him.

"Are you even listening?" She pouts to get his attention, one thing Mathew Fernaldo is bad at is focusing while speaking to a beautiful lady.

"Well, yes.. yes I am and I am in complete agreement with you." He mumbled.

"Geez, I will pay you the rent every month and we will split the rest of the bills," Meredith informed.

"Okay, that sounds great." Mathew nods his head.

"Now listen carefully, I won't repeat myself. I have some demands.

1. Get soundproof for your room goodness we can't have another episode of this morning incident, I can't be listening to the silly noise you make while you bed your sluts.

Matthew coughs in order not to laugh what a strange girl, who uses 'bed' your sluts when you could just say 'fuck'. This is going to be fun for the lady who refrains from using vulgar words.

2. Please respect yourself and refrain from bringing sluts into the apartment bear in mind you no longer live alone.

3. No late-night parties, if possible no parties in the apartment.

4. No smoking in the apartment, I'm allergic to it.

5. You must respect my personal space and try not to cross it.

6. And if possible try not to talk to me unless it is extremely necessary if not...

The list went on and on. Mathew nods his head as she speaks about all the things she likes and dislikes, what he was to do and not do. I bet he didn't remember a thing just the rent part.

"Are you done?" He asked as he burst into a peal of laughter. Meredith felt like choking him right there.

"I'm sorry I couldn't help it, you nag like my grandma. Well, now that you are done I'm going out." He smirks as he picks the money shoves it in his wallet and walks out to the door.

"Don't wait for me, I don't know when I will be back." He whispers as he blows Meredith a kiss.

"Geez who cares and why will I wait up for you," Meredith whispers to herself.

Mathew was long gone.

Meredith collapsed on the sofa after thoroughly cleaning every breath and inch of the house. "Goodness I'm tired but I still need to look for a job." She let out a chuckle as she went through the job vacancy session of the newspaper.

Meredith is a fresh graduate with no working experience, being in a different country will even make it harder to get a decent job but she was down for any work as long as she gets paid and well legal.

She let off a sigh when she saw a vacancy that suited her credentials. They are looking for a designer. Meredith studied Fashion, she majored in garment construction and leather works. She picks up the number and calls the company.

"Hello, I'm calling regarding the job vacancy published in the newspaper, when can I come for an interview?" Meredith whispers as she adjusts herself on the sofa.

"Miss, you can come to the company tomorrow to find out. The list of interviewees has already been prepared." the lady at the end of the call muttered.

"Okay, thank you," she said in reply and ended the call. That was not encouraging, she fell back on the sofa lost in her thoughts. She wasn't going to give up just like that.

She plans to attend the interview tomorrow whether or not her name is part of the approved list.

Matthew is in the club with his best friend Edward Duran. Popularly known as Eddie Duran he is a young handsome musician who is very famous and the only heir of a billion-dollar empire, his parents want him to be a businessman so he can run the assets of the family they will pass on to him but he loves music.

"You seem quiet today what is wrong?" Matthew mumbles as he stares at his disturbed friend.

"My parent wants me to marry Purple Nolan else they will make sure I never get to hold a mic again." Eddie pouts smashing the glass on the wall which draws the attention of everyone in the club.

"Everything is cool, he is fine," Matthew explains to the bartender as he raises his hands when they gather around them.

"Take it easy man If you don't want to get married then don't Besides Purple is a young beautiful girl." Matthew mumbles as Eddie rolls his eyes at him.

"Really, why don't you get married too, you don't know her, she is witty and annoying when she starts talking she never stops." he cursed.

"Take it, easy dude, take me for example my dad cancelled all my credit cards now I'm free from his many rules." Matthew rumbles pressing the tip of the glass in his hand with his finger in the round. He tries to pretend his dad's actions didn't affect him.

"Are you serious dude? Where are you staying now?" Eddie asked with concern turning to face his friend.

"Grandma's house and I rented the other room to this strange girl that I met while touring in Ghana," he mumbles.

"Wow, you with a beautiful girl as a roommate?" Eddie teased, he knows Matthew very well he never sees a beautiful girl and does not pursue her.

"Seriously she is not my type of girl, I might want to taste her but not anymore, Can you believe the kind of rules she is giving me in my apartment?" Matthew scoffs.

Eddie huffs, "I must meet this your roommate who knows she will end up being your sister-in-law." Eddie jokes as they both laugh.

"Well good luck man but for me, it is a not-not." Matthew grins.

Eddie's mum is preparing for his engagement party this evening, Eddie is to formalize his relationship with Purple.

But instead, he decided not to show up at his engagement. They took some girls to the club and headed to Matthew's apartment to party.

His mother keeps calling him the entire time but he ignores her.

"Come on Eddie, where are you? Tonight is supposed to be the happiest day in your life, Please answer your phone, Purple and her family have already arrived." Eddie's mother said leaving Eddie a voicemail for the seventh time.

Meredith went to bed early because she needed to wake up early in the morning for her interview. She kept turning and tossing in bed till she managed to catch sleep.

She suddenly wakes up to the noise of Matthew and his friends.

"Oh no please please not with this again." She let out a whimper in frustration.

She swiftly got out of bed to tell them to keep it down but she realized they were pretty drunk and in the company of 2 girls.

What is the point of arguing with a drunk man she thought as she banged the door and went back to her room.

She puts on a headset in order not to listen to their disgusting noise.

"Goodness, I'm going to be late." Meredith let out a chuckle as she hurriedly got dressed for her job interview.

She comes out of her room to see empty bottles and a big mess in the hall. She angrily snapped when she saw Matthew coming out of his room and having a hangover.

"It looks like everything I said to you yesterday didn't enter your coconut head. Which part of no parties in the apartment didn't you understand?" Meredith said angrily stamping her feet on the ground at a slow pace.

Matthew holds his head. "Will you stop nagging so early in the morning, geez my head hurts." he sniffs pouring himself a glass of water.

"Nagging! You think I'm nagging?" Meredith pouts as his eyes widen.

"What is your problem girl? spare me your lectures this morning, you are just like that stupid friend of yours. What is her name again? Oh yeah, Maria, you think you can control everyone huh?" He scoffs as he walks out on her.

Matthew just said it but he has no idea how much that hurts her.

She stood still, as tears rolled down her cheeks when she heard Matthew call Maria stupid.

"What is it with her? She said a lot of mean things to me I only said she was stupid and she is acting as if someone stabbed her," Matthew whispers to himself.

He turns back and stares at her still standing there crying.

"Such a drama queen, shss, aren't you going to be late for your meeting?" he said with a lower tone staring at her.

Meredith watched the time on her wristwatch and hissed.

"Damn!" Meredith pouts.
