Meredith was still in the office she was exhausted but she was bent on finishing the gown before leaving. She let out a deep breath when she stitched the last part. "Wow, finally," she whispered swinging her hair backwards.
Meredith was proud of her creation, she stood back to admire her efforts at least the time she spent was worth it. A sparkle falls on her eyes as she grins and gazes at the dress.
"Mum, I wish you could see this, my first-ever creation," she whimpers preventing herself from sharing tears. She checked her wristwatch and mumbled, "It's pretty late,"
She was about to rush out, She grabbed her bag and jacket but stopped all of a sudden. She knows she has more haters who would love nothing more than to see her get ruined.
"Mum will say it is better to be careful than not and regret," she whispered. She quickly locks the new design in the cabin and takes the key with her before a hater destroys her hard work.
Meredith was in a hurry to leave the building. Her main concern was how to get a cab back home. "Hello Miss, you are still here?" the security man asked as she stepped out of the elevator.
"Yes please I'm leaving now," she muttered.
"Okay Miss," the security man replied.
"Please where is your car parked? I can bring it to you," he whispered. He was so thoughtful he didn't want her walking all the way to the car park to get her car.
"Thank you, very thoughtful of you but I don't have a car," Meredith explained with a smile.
"How do you plan on going home, Miss? it's really late you won't get a cab by this time and it's dangerous to be alone at this time of the night," the man said out of mere concern.
"I will call someone to pick me up you don't have to worry about me," Meredith whispered. The security man insisted on waiting for her until her supposed ride arrived. "He is already here I will go now," Meredith lied walking towards the car park. She only wanted to get rid of the security man.
"Oh my god, he's right I didn't even realize how fast time was flying. how do I get home now? I don't have anyone to call, Gabby might be asleep by now, What do I do?" Meredith whispered running her hand freely through her long brown curly hair. She looked frustrated and scared at the same time.
She turned around and saw Matthew standing in front of her with his bag hanging on his shoulders and his hands in his pocket.
"You!" Meredith looked surprised when she saw him standing there.
"Among all the people I had prayed to bump into, why does it have to be him?" Meredith cursed biting her lips.
"What are you still doing here?" Meredith asked as if Matthew owed her an explanation, he also works there.
"I also had things I needed to finish before tomorrow but wait a minute, why am I even explaining myself to you? I work here okay. Before you start thinking I was following you," he snaps staring at her curvy body that always distracts him.
"Hump," Meredith grits her teeth.
"You need a ride?" Matthew smirks taking off his car keys and unlocking the doors.
Beep...
Beep... the car beeped as the doors were unlocked.
He walks glamorous to the car staring at Meredith who was still processing his questions.
"Hey, I don't have time, You better decide fast and get inside the car or let me leave, I'm tired, and I need to have rest tomorrow is going to be a long day," Matthew whimpers with one foot in the car.
"Alright fine. I think I'll just ride with you since I'm not going to get any car this late," Meredith muttered walking to the car.
"Oh this is the first time you made a smart choice without throwing a tantrum," Matthew teased as he tried to help Meredith with the seat belt.
"Just shut up, and get your hands off me, I can do it on myself," she snaps pushing his hands away, she struggles to fasten the seatbelt but eventually she does. Matthew waited for her to finish before starting the engine.
Meredith was tired as soon as she laid her head on the windowpane and the air botched in her face, she fell asleep.
Matthew stared at her while she was sleeping, he almost lost control of the wheel he quickly came back to his senses and took control.
They arrived at the apartment in no time. Meredith was fast asleep, Matthew didn't want to wake her up moreover he was not ready to put up with her tantrums.
"What a sleeping beauty," Matthew whispers as he caresses her face, he gently carries her in his arms and takes her into the apartment. He admired her beauty and how much of an angel she looked while sleeping.
"She's not heavy at all, does she even eat?" Matthew scoffs as a light smile smacks his face. He gently lays her on the bed and takes off her shoes, he also gently removes her jacket so she can sleep comfortably. He then set the blanket above her.
He couldn't help but admire her beauty the edge of gently sucking on her lips came to mind. He tried to ignore it but the feeling was stronger than him. He bents over slightly bringing his head close to hers.
Meredith moves her hand suddenly and hits his nose still fast asleep.
"Geez Matty, she beautiful, yes but control yourself, You are a gentleman," he reminded himself pulling back almost immediately.
"But I admit she looks innocent while sleeping that is why I'm feeling this way if she was to be awake by now she would have been throwing her usual tantrums," he whispers.
When he was about to leave her room, he sported a photograph of her friends Maria, Pamela, and herself set on the dressing table.
His eyes then shifted to a picture of her mother, suddenly his skin was covered in goosebumps. He picks it up, stares at it, and carefully sets it back in its place. He stares at them for a while.
"What could have happened to you Meredith? You were so happy back then and you had the life of a queen," "What secrets are you hiding?"
"What pain are you grieving alone?" Matthew thought before finally walking out of her room. He left to his room almost yarning. He slept off as soon as he fell back on the bed.
The skies were not so bright and the weather was not so friendly. Perfect weather to stay in bed with a loved one and watch a movie or cuddle each other all day. Meredith pulls the blanket above her head about to change position to continue to enjoy her sleep. She might not be fortunate to have someone to hold and cuddle her as the weather gets chilly but she has her very warm blanket.
Her alarm rang almost god knows how many times already. Meredith finally wakes up and off the alarm. She wonders why she doesn't remember getting into bed on her own.
"Now I get it, I slept off in Matthew's car, he carried me to the room, uh he dare to touch me, he even took off my shoes and jacket, that jerk has some nerves," she said gritting her teeth and hitting her head for falling asleep in his car.
She checked the time and it was past 8 a.m. "Geez I'm going to be late," she cried as she jumped out of bed and took a quick shower.
She was done dressing in 5 minutes, as usual. She looked elegant, and her natural magnificence was unimaginable.
She didn't need much make-up to look gorgeous, Meredith came out of her room at the same time Matthew was also coming out from his room. They both stare at each other as their eyes meet.
Matthew had an appointment early in the morning because he had to wait up for Meredith, he ended up sleeping late and waking up late.
Matthew looks away fixing his laptop in his bag.
"Did you..." Meredith pouts pointing at her jacket. "Yes and please my head is aching don't start this morning," Matthew grunts.
"Why didn't you wake me up when we got to the apartment?" Meredith scoffs.
"How dare you touch me? you should have just woken me up," Meredith complains as her eyes widen.
"Listen I didn't want to have all this drama that's why I didn't, be thankful Matthew Fernaldo got to carry you to your room and not...." Matthew chuckled leaving his last sentence incomplete.
"What!" Meredith grumbled walking towards him.
"Not that I wanted to carry you okay I already told you, you are not my type of girl so stop thinking so highly of yourself," Matthew smirks, he enjoys making her angry.
"Say that again?" Meredith yells.
"I'm saying if am to see you naked I won't even look twice, you get it now? so give me a break, Do you need a ride or not?" He chuckled rolling his eyes now his bag was set around his neck ready to leave.
"How... How ..." Meredith stammered. She couldn't believe her ears. She felt lower than the sluts he sleeps with.
"He wants to tell me I can't be compared to his slut? Geez, I'm so angry right now I can strangle him to death. He won't look at me even if I'm naked huh?" Meredith grits her teeth as Matthew's words repeat in her mind.
"Yes or no?" Matthew snapped.
It is drizzling and the weather is bad the next cab is a 6-minute drive away.
Matthew slips his tongue complaining to Meredith she is the reason why he slept late when Meredith asks her to explain he can't explain himself after all he already lied he was working that night not waiting for her.
"Fine since we are going to the same place I will join you," Meredith whispers.
"Good you have finally made up your mind," Matthew smirks.
"Yes I will have to put up with your silly ass for some few minutes course I'm already late," she rumbles as they both rush out of the apartment.
His car was already in front of the apartment they both hopped in and drove away. In the car everyone was silent, Meredith couldn't bear to share such a small space with him but she had no choice.
She could only bear with It or she was going to be late. There was heavy traffic on the road because of the rain. She only accepts to ride with Matthew just because of that. Matthew broke the awkward silence that filled up in the car.
"Wow I heard about the magic you did in the company, I'm quite impressed. I thought you wouldn't last for a minute in that company but instead, you've turned into a superstar," Matthew teased tilting his head to stare at her.
"Matthew just shut up and drive," Meredith rolled her eyes as she turned her face to the window.
"Why do you hate me so much? I admit I don't like you either but I don't detest you as you do?" Matthew asked as he parked the car.
Meredith jumps out of the car without turning to look at him.
