I pull away from his kiss.
We look into each other's eyes for the longest time. All the exhaustion I felt has left my body. Right here, in his arms, I feel safe. I'm not alone anymore. He caresses my face and presses his nose to a spot on my neck. He inhales. I keep my arms locked around him, afraid of letting go. He's my anchor, and without him, I'll float away.
Over his shoulder, I see some males approaching us. Lee is amongst them, which makes me frown. What's Lee doing here?
He rushes to Bonnie and slaps her hand away from her abdomen. The gashes are still there, but they look significantly better. "I'm fine," she assures him. "Help me up."
So Lee knows Bonnie?
"Much has changed since I last saw you," he says. "When we get to FireMoon, I'll explain it all to you."
"FireMoon?" I ask. "You're with Cayden?"
His eyes darken. "It's a complicated story."
