Silence reigned. Nobody said a word. Apparently nobody wanted to be the first. That wasn't really unexpected either.
"Bruno wants to be the first, right?" Emiliano said
'No, you can try it,' was his response
"Me? Nah... Napat cooked it, so he should do it," Emiliano replied
"Sorry, I'm a vegetarian..." Napat claimed, but everyone present knew it was a lie.
"Yeah, now he's telling his dirty lies," I replied.
"Then you eat it Can," Napat said, not even denying it was a lie.
'Well... Well... I've become a vegetarian too. It's only recently, which is probably why none of you knew,' I replied.
This back and forth went on for a while.
"OK! Let's solve this with a rock, paper, scissors game. Otherwise we can never agree," suggested Emiliano.
'All right,' said Bruno
"Till three?" I asked
"No . . . only until one," Napat said
After we then set the rules for our little competition, we started. Never in my life has a rock, paper, scissors game been so nerve-wracking. It took us a few tries before a loser was finally determined. Luckily I wasn't the loser, it was Bruno.
"Come on guys... I just can't", Bruno
"Stop crying on go ahead", Emiliano
"Sheesh," Napat and I comment in unison.
"Okay okay... I'll do it... But if I die, it's your fault," he explained.
"Yeah yeah" Emiliano
Now we were watching Bruno slowly taking a bite of the meat. By slowly, I also mean slowly, since he tried to delay it extremely.
"And?" I asked.
"How are you feeling?" Napat asked.
"Are you dying?" Emiliano asked.
He took his time chewing and swallowing. Our attention was completely focused on him. Then Bruno said slowly, in a calm tone: "To be honest... It's not that bad...."
"Really?" I asked
'Yes really,' answered Bruno
Then, without hesitation, Napat took the skewer and bit into it too. Emiliano followed shortly after. Both looked pleased with the taste.
"Damn... That's really good," Napat commented.
"Yes, I agree. It's similar to chicken, but at the same time it tastes completely different," Emiliano said.
"Can! Try it too," Bruno.
Well, the moment has come. Because of their positive reactions, I'm pretty excited. Then after they handed me the skewer, I took a big bite to assert my dominance.
"Wow... That's extremely good. The only thing missing is source, but other than that I have nothing to complain about.«
And so we spent our first dinner together in another world. Aside from the bad and unfortunate things that happened to us today, I enjoy every second.
