She could feel their eyes piercing her body, it was bugging her. She wished she had arrived and headed to her room. The stare she was receiving wasn't the type you find someone staring and you smile then look away, or the type where you decide to have a little staring contest.
It was that type of stare where she knew it's meant, "Yes, her. Stare, I will tell you what later." It was judgmental.
The idea of what it would be like if the women of Oceans Pack turn into stare lovers like the ones at Michaela's apartment scared her, all she wanted was life to continue the way it was there. Quiet! Unlike at her best friend's house where you will pass by and it will be staring first then gossip, hell, the women didn't have shame at all they even gossiped about their husbands.
Every time Gal went to Michaela's place, she felt lucky to have a friend who was free and talkative, or else it would be a disaster for her. With her wolf hearing, she could easily hear them talking.
She had greeted them; it was her routine. Arrive, say hi, go to her and Jordan's room, simple as that, she didn't want any problems with anyone. And what's the best way of ensuring that other than greeting people and being on your way?
Standing there in the kitchen waiting for her water to boil she realized she made the mistake of not doing that in her room, she knew she had to leave as fast as possible before she found herself asking them what they wanted. She poured the water into a jug and smiled at them as she hurriedly went to her room.
Her wolf had finally slept, the lullaby always worked, she sat on the bed thinking of the reasons the women were throwing daggers at her back, she couldn't think of many reasons but one thing scared the most, the pack knowing she was the late alpha Mia Ryder's daughter from the Ryder Pack. And her name wasn't Gal Maxwell, but Gal Ryder.
But seriously can someone stare and gossip about you because you decide to go by a different name? She didn't think so. Maybe in different scenarios like, you are a stalker, or an impostor, or the killer next door, or a psycho, perhaps a creepy person.
Gal was none of the above.
"I am not ready for this," Gal said out loud. She was even speaking to herself and it drove her crazy. She stood to and went to eavesdrop if the women were speaking, but nothing. Who was she kidding it was a pack house and not a frat house, of course with her in the house the women were not going to talk about her.
She sighed and went back and sit on the bed wishing she was a mind reader; she would have gone to where the women were and found out.
Not knowing made her uneasy and the arrival of Sheryl made that even worse, the woman was cocky and would have said anything if she wanted to get something in return, Gal thought the woman had talked to one of the pack members and it has spread.
There was no way she was going to allow that to happen, she swore to herself to that. She wasn't going to let Sheryl come in between her and the pack, for a moment there she seriously thought of making plans and not just one plan but plan a, b, c, and d. Better be safe.
She heard murmuring outside, things were changing. She rarely heard murmurs after she had entered her room, struggling to find the correct reasons for what was going on she decided to go out and see what was happening.
"What's going on?" She asked a girl she met in front of her door.
There was no answer from the girl, she was busy staring ahead. Gal tried to tiptoe to see with no lock. She decided to ask the girl again, she knew the girl's name but it wasn't coming to her memory at that moment.
"Yes, Gal." The girl smiled at her.
"Hi, what's going on?"
"Oh, I don't know I have just arrived." The girl told her and left.
Gal felt frustrated, the way things were made her anxious. She asked the next person next to her.
"Hi, do you know what's going on?"
"No," the guy answered but reluctantly, it was as if he knew something Gal didn't know. And it wasn't something Gal was to going to like.
Gal wanted to scream, to make everyone look at her so as they can give her an answer on what exactly was going on. Gal wasn't that crazy though; she turned back and entered her room.
As soon as she began removing her clothes so she could take a shower, there was a knock on her door she went and open the door. It was one of the pack's women. They exchanged their greetings, and the woman told Gal. "In case you were wondering I am here because I wanted to tell you I heat the beta is looking for you."
"What?" Gal asked surprised. Which beta?
"The Oceans Pack's beta?" The woman replied, her reply was like a question. It made Gal wonder whether the woman had come to inform her or inquire from her.
For what reasons was the beta looking for her anyway?
"Yes, which beta might it be also? Do you happen to be searched by any other beta?" The woman inquired, looking at Gal worriedly.
It made Gal worried that the woman was staring at her, so she asked the woman, "Where is she?"
"He is a she?" The woman asked again and Gal started feeling like the woman's presence was annoying her, she wondered why she couldn't get straight to the point so she could go and take her shower.
"Okay, fine. The beta was looking for you I think, I heard the alpha sent him." With that, the woman left Gal standing there, gaping.
So not only were the women staring at her earlier but also the beta was looking for her. Whatever was going on wasn't good.
The Oceans Pack's alpha was rarely seen let alone send his beta to call anyone.
"What's going on in Oceans Pack?" She asked herself that question as she locked her door.
