"Gal, so I told him. Hell no! I am not going with you on that date, I didn't agree to it you can go on the date yourself." Michaela was busy telling Gal about her current love life situation.
Gal knew even though Michaela was saying that she was all giggly inside, her best friend was having a blast of her life. It had taken Michaela so long to finally even smile at a man, Gal was sorry for her best friend. Michaela loved "love" to be love and to loved, and most of the time it hadn't worked well for her. It was the reason she had said that to the man who told her to go on a date with.
Gal observed her best friend worriedly, she didn't want things to go wrong like the last time. Michaela had been rejected by the love of her life and she hadn't taken it so lightly, it was heart-wrenching to watch her best friend go through that heartbreak. Michaela Johns didn't know how to handle rejection.
It wasn't the same for Gal, she knew the world wasn't there for her, she handled anything negative so well. She knew when to stop, she knew the signs after all the run with her brother Jordan it wasn't all flowery and glitters whenever they went. They were not welcomed. And from a young age, she knew how to handle rejections, betrayals, hatred, depression, and anything negative the world would throw at her.
Even sometimes Gal wished she could go around and tell people, "You want life lessons on how to live in this depressing world. Welcome to mine. It's full of it."
"Have you found anyone yet?" Michaela asked Gal. Today Michaela Johns was on "dating and love" Gal thought of a topic to diverge the question from her to her best friend, she knew Michaela was not going to stop still she got an answer. It made Gal want to tell her best friend she was going to run home and they could meet the next day.
But it wasn't that easy, how could a grown woman run on the road at that time of the evening with a handbag. Well, unless the woman was crazy.
They were on their way home from work and Gal wished she had just left work and headed to his brother, Jordan to pick him up. Earlier on she had called Timothy's mother and asked her to pick her brother Jordan up from school, she had her reasons but most importantly she didn't want to meet Sheryl Peter.
"Yes, have you found anyone yet, our mate? A man? A woman?" Gal heard her wolf speaking to her, it has awakened. Gal wasn't sure if the wolf had grown tired from waiting for her to let her out or from the arrival of Sheryl Peter.
Since she met Sheryl Peter, Gal's wolf had decided to go all crazy on her. Asking questions like, when are we going out to run, where is our mate, when can I come out?
It was annoying for Gal. She didn't want to have another issue to deal with, her brother's stubbornness, Sheryl's arrival, Michaela constantly asking her if she has someone.
She had a way to dodge both women, to run but she knew she wasn't going to run from her wolf. She had found ways of making the wolf quiet and now it seems it wasn't going to.
"I once was lost, not once really. I have been lost. Like forever. I was lost, but now I am found." Gal's wolf said to her, it was annoying the hell out of her. Gal knew she had to look for a way to keep it cool, she didn't want to hear that darn voice of it every day, every time.
She knew that now the wolf was there, there was going to be a battle between them each time of the day.
"Yes, I have a mate."
"What?" Michaela asked her. Gal didn't even realize she had spoken out loud, and she had to come up with a quick question to the I have a mate question, she knew Michaela was going to ask what the hell was a mate.
After all, nowhere in the human world do they use "mate" to refer to a lover or husband or wife. And there was no way she was going to tell her best friend, "Sorry, just talking to my wolf." She knew one thing for sure, that would scare the hell out of her best friend.
"Oh yes, our mate, our mate. Really? There is a mate?" The wolf asked. Gal could see the wolf dancing in her head, of course, there was no mate. She was certain when the wolf meets its mate it will go on "my mate, our mate, my mate, our mate" mode.
Unable to make her wolf quiet, Gal decided on ignoring it. She turned to her best friend and told her she was just thinking about meat as if meat and mate sound even the same. Michaela just nodded.
Gal knew her best friend wasn't okay with the answer, but that was all she could come up with. They headed to a shopping mall and Gal brought some chocolates and ice cream for his brother. Michaela asked her best friend if she was okay, but Gal being Gal reassured her everything was okay, and then they parted ways.
The distance from where she worked wasn't that far to the Oceans Pack house and Gal always preferred to walk, she didn't want to spend her money unnecessarily the little she had she made sure it sustained her and his brother Jordan. They had little but that didn't mean she was going to let her brother lack anything.
For Gal, his brother Jordan was the only one making her survive.
Her wolf was still having the conversation, it wanted them to talk about the mate situation and whether Gal decided to stay like that forever. Gal just rolled her eyes which was received by a, "Keep on rolling your eyes. I can feel it here, in your head. You know where you have decided to keep me." That made Gal smile, the wolf had all personalities, there were times it could be sarcastic, annoying, amusing and today it decided to go with all of them.
With the realization that at the rate at which her wolf was having its meeting inside her head, Gal decided to start humming a song she used to sing to her brother Jordan when he was young. She had the means to calm down the wolf, yanking the wolf out of her body which of course won't work, or just turn for a little while and run into the woods nearby, that too won't work in her favor but to her wolf's favor. Gal didn't want to turn, and that left her with the singing option.
To bore the wolf to slumber with a lullaby.
