Chereads / Her Before You / Chapter 3 - Chapter Two

Chapter 3 - Chapter Two

Sarah and I have been talking for the past two months. It has yet to be our pleasure to meet face-to-face. We have been texting back and forth. At the office, Bradley was paying his rent. Before that, Sarah had asked. Would you like for us to meet in person?

I was curious to meet Sarah. I told her yes. We agreed to meet. I just sighed and smiled. I watched Bradley walk away from the desk after thanking the landlord. "Are you ready?" Bradley asked. My head shook.

A date had been set for Sarah and me to meet. The meeting will take place on Saturday at 5 p.m. It will take place at a Mexican restaurant. I asked Bradley if he would like to attend. Bradley sighed and said, "I think I should just stay home."

Finally, Saturday had arrived and I was waiting in the restaurant. I received a message from Sarah. I glanced at the screen. Here I am! she said in a text message. As I was still sitting down, I looked around the restaurant. Sarah said, "Hey.". As I turned my head, there she was.

She looked absolutely stunning. Her hair was long and brown, and her eyes were pretty. She had straight hair. She was wearing a floral dress. She was also wearing high heels. My heart melted.

Sarah said, "Nice to meet you.".

"Nice to meet you."

In front of me, Sarah sat in one of the booths. She put her purse on the table. "I'm Sarah." she said nervously. There were butterflies in my stomach. The necklace she wore also caught my attention. Instead of focusing on it, I just wanted to enjoy my time with Sarah.

It's been over two hours since we started our first date. I was laughing with Sarah. "Are you from the area?" Sarah inquired. My head shook, "I've lived here in Chicago for quite a while." Sarah was able to understand, "Do you live with your parents?" She asked. I shook my head no and replied, "I live with one of my friends." I didn't want her to think I was weird.

Sarah and I were having the time of our lives. We talked about so many things. Our conversation began by asking where each of us is from. Immediately, I felt a connection.

As I exited the restaurant, I kept the door open for Sarah. She also left the restaurant. I glanced at my watch and sighed. Walking Sarah to her car, I said, "It's getting late, I better get going." I enjoyed talking to her. She replied, "I had a great time."I smiled, "Me too."

After saying goodbye, she got into her car. She rolled down the window before leaving. "Shall we do it again?" she asked. I chuckled, "Sure." Sarah smiled, "I'll see you around."

The door to my apartment opened. I saw Bradley sleeping on our couch. I shut the door quietly, hoping not to wake him. However, it did. When Bradley opened his eyes, he saw I was home.

I shared Sarah's phone number with her. In the morning, I was back at work. As I was typing on my computer, my boss noticed me. As he walks up to me, he says, "I heard you went on a date."

Sarah's necklace was what really moved me. I assumed she was religious. When I turned sixteen, I really began to understand who God is. That's when I accepted Christ as my savior. I suppose I would call myself a believer in God. But on the other hand, why would he want to take Rebecca away from me? Is he trying to replace Sarah with Rebecca?

I just hope that's not the reason I met Sarah. She seems like a wonderful person. Rebecca, however, was even more wonderful. She always made me smile. She always put a smile on my face, and I wanted to propose after we graduated from college. Despite knowing that I was not ready for marriage, I knew that Rebecca was the one for me. Unfortunately, she is no longer with us. Her loss will haunt me forever. I wasn't sure whether I was ready to let go.
