Chapter 9 - A New Roommate

"Mind telling me what's going on here?"

He walks towards the crowd and passes by a confused Nora and a tired Asuna. Ryvern continues to walk towards the blue haired woman that was fighting Jacob. Several fallen angels gained their senses and tries to attack him but none landed a punch. Unlike the demons, Ryvern only uses non lethal strikes to take them down.

Amidst the one sided fight, Jacob hits the weak walls of the church as he is thrown away from the hall.

"I was expecting the Pendragon to put up a fight but I never thought that you'd be such a great punching bag, boy!" boasted the lady as she sees Jacob slowly getting back up from the ground outside.

"You truly are persistent, aren't you?"

She takes a step towards Jacob but that one step forward was the only one she took as she was thrown towards several broken pews.

"What was that?" said the lady, still laying on top of few shattered pews.

The fallen angel looks to find her henchmen and found them she did. Grunting and moaning in pain on the floor of the church while she sees Nora helping Akeno up to her feet.

Ryvern on the other hand, comes into the church through the hole which Jacob made with his entire body, with an injured Jacob by his shoulder.

"W-who are you?" The blue haired woman asked as she slowly stands up.

Ryvern looks over to the fallen angel and turns away immediately. He turns to Nora and lays Jacob in front of her.

"I guess you didn't slap him enough."

Nora could only scoffs as Asuna remove herself away from her and kneels down to Jacob. Ryvern immediately reaches to her shoulder as Asuna almost falls down to the ground. He manages to keep her steady but his hands were immediately slapped by Asuna as she send him an angry glare.

"Get off me...!" she hissed as she grunts softly.

Ryvern straighten up his pose and faces Nora who looks at him apologetically.

"It's fine. You guys can rest."

As Ryvern finished his sentence, a hand grabs him by the shin as a grunting Jacob pulls himself closer to Ryvern.

"Make her pay, dude..."

Tears starts dripping down his cheeks.

"She... killed my friend."

A small slap of realisation hits Ryvern as he turns to look over to the fallen angel, and sees a corpse of a young lady, around their age, laying on the broken altar of the church.

One can hear the cracks from his knuckles as he grips them tight but release them shortly after. He looks back at Jacob, taking a deep breath as he crouch down to him.

"I can't promise you anything."

He turns his back to them as Nora slumps down to the ground and sits herself next to her servants, watching the silver haired boy walking towards the blue haired fallen angel who finally gained her balance. Standing up to face Ryvern, she speaks;

"Who are you?!"

Ryvern did not utter a word as a small spark of lightning appears on his eyes before diminish. A dark aura of black shroud him instead as he moves closer, and closer to the fallen angel.

"Stay back!" said the fallen angel as she backs away slowly.

Ryvern paid no mind to her and keeps moving forward.

"I said stay back!"

The fallen angel finally stops backing away as she almost hits the broken altar behind her. She looks back to the altar before turns around to see Ryvern is an arm-length close to her. She could only cover her face in fear as her knees tremble. However, she remains unharmed.

The fallen angel hears something rustling to her right. She slowly puts her hand down as she hears footsteps sound moving away from her. Ryvern returns back to Jacob and the others with a corpse of a blond lady in his arms.

The fallen angels was baffled as she falls down on her knees, softly crying afterwards.

Ryvern lay the lady next to the unconscious body of Jacob.

"Take her with you," ordered Ryvern as he turns to Nora.

The tired redhead could only nods as she gets up slowly.

"And what will you do?"

Ryvern turns away from them and walks towards the fallen angel who's now laying unconscious for who knows why.

"Figuring out why the Fallen has broken the truce."

Nora, albeit confused, shakes the thought away and prepares to cast a crest of red magic around the four of them. Few second after, Only Ryvern and the fallen angels remains in the abandoned church.

...

"Ehm..."

"Ah..."

"No..."

"No!" yelled the fallen angel as she finally wakes up.

She looks around and found herself still in the church, but laying on a clean clothes.

"Ahem," someone cleared their throat.

The fallen angel instantly looks to her back and found Ryvern sitting on a somewhat still usable old pew. Her face turns horrified by the sight of Ryvern; who just recovered from being flustered.

"Who- who are you?" she asked.

Ryvern clears his throat once more.

"I guess introduction is needed."

He adjusted his sitting position which jumps the already scared fallen angels. He could only sighs before speaking;

"My name is Ryvern Ryndelle."

The fallen angel takes a few moment to reply as Ryvern silently waits on the pew.

"Iana."

"So," he pauses, his expression turns serious. "Why did you broke the truce?"

The blue haired woman looks down at the ground.

"If I didn't, Galdriel would've killed my friend..."

Ryvern sits still on the pew, pondering on the said name.

"It's the same guy that Zelle told us," said Luxuria; who sits on Ryvern's head as she places her finger on her chin.

"Zelle?!" the fallen angel yelled out, surprising the silver haired boy and the pixie.

"You can see her?" asked Ryvern calmly, pointing to Luxuria on his head as he said so.

Iana nods with a worried expression on her face.

"Are you talking about Rayzelle?" questioned the blue haired Iana.

Ryvern and Luxuria looks at one another.

...

The already fixed front door of Ryvern's house opens as Ryvern and the blue haired lady enters the living room.

There, they met with a sleepy Zelle who just finished watching the tv.

"Huh? Ryv? Who's that?" Zelle asked as she rubbed her eyes.

"You're staying late again." Ryvern shakes his head.

"R-Rayzelle?" the blue haired woman spoke out, with the look of disbelieve in her eyes.

"Hmm?" Zelle only tilts her head as her left hand still rubbing her left eyes. The only thing she can make out of the person who just called out her name was only her blue hair.

"Iana?" The said blue haired woman only launched herself towards Rayzelle and hugged her with tears form in her eyes.

"I missed you..."

"It's only a week since I last met you, why-"

"You've been alive this whole time?"

"I'll let the two of you catch up," said Ryvern as he walks pass the two of them. "It's already late."

Iana and Zelle sits by the couch as the two talks to one another. Ryvern on the other hand, arrived in his bedroom upstairs and immediately throws himself to the bed.

Closing his eyes as a rather troubled Luxuria says 'good night' to the silver haired boy.
