Chapter 10 - An Old Acquaintance

By the mountains of Beijing, China, a figure in red attire and red helmet appears to be holding a male in black clothing on her arms.

"You can put me down now, Ver," said the man in black who appears to be Ryvern.

"Why, couldn't stand being held like a girl in a strong woman's embrace?" joked Ver as she releases Ryvern.

"Alright, calm down, feminist." Ryvern dusted himself off as he stares down the cliff. "And I don't someone out there to start a 'RyVer' smut. Selfcest is a no-no for me."

Ver slowly cracks up as she holds her stomach.

"That's what you were concerned of?" She laughs once more before wiping the tears in her eyes.

"Whatever." Ryvern shakes his head in annoyance. "So where's Avarice?"

Ver, now recovered from her laughter, points to her towards the peak of the mountain.

"Up there?"

Ver nods.

"Why bother stop here then?" said Ryvern as he takes a step forward, only to be blocked by an invisible barrier.

"'That'."

Ryvern rubs his forehead as he places his palm on the barrier.

"Barrier of Salvation."

"The 'what' of 'what' now?"

"It's a spell that can be cast with a Amulet of The First Nightingale."

Ryvern explained to Ver, although it only adds more to her confusion.

"You know you could break this right?"

Said Ryvern which baffled the red helmet wielder. Ver then scoffs at the silver haired teenager.

"Think I didn't try it when I found the Sin? My 'Lightning' uses mana, and this 'barrier' blocks mana. Like entirely."

With tilted head, Ryvern nods while looking at the 'angry robot-like' expression on Ver's helmet. He then places his gazes on the barrier.

"Mana..."

In a slight instance, the barrier breaks and pieces of broken glass falls down onto the ground. although it dissipate before hitting it.

"Let's go."

The robot face on Ver's helmet blinks multiple times, as she herself is completely perplexed.

...

At the peak of the mountain, a boy in his early teens is clearly troubled with a panicked expression on his face.

"Oh no! The barrier is broken! What should I do?!"

He wanders around, anxiously.

"Calm down?!" he yelled out as he stops in his track.

"How can I calm down?! I just found out that my lover is dead, and now there are people who probably will kill-"

Suddenly, the eyes of the teenager glows in yellow and his expression changes to one of annoyance.

"I told you, I'll handle it."

The teenager then walks up to the cliff and notices Ryvern and Ver walking side by side, scaling up the mountain. He studies the two with a slight smirk on his face.

"It's been a while..."

His gazes follows Ryvern.

"Demitrius."

...

"What happened to your 'Lightning'?" ask Ver with her hands inside the pocket of her jacket.

"It'll shook the Wielder, so I'll rather not use it carelessly."

"Shook?"

The robot face now replaced by a question mark.

"It's not that it will surprised them, more like they would die if they sensed it."

The question mark now appears bigger.

"Look."

Ryvern stops walking.

"Just tell me which part you don't understand."

"Uhh... what's a 'Wielder', who are the seven sins, and why are they so important in the fight to save the multiverse."

Ryvern stares at her blankly as the robot face now has a huge pleading eyes strapped onto it.

"So everything?"

Ver nods as Ryvern sighs.

...

Eons ago.

There was a war of the Three Factions.

Heaven, Devils, and The Fallen.

Heaven; led by a powerful entity named God, struggled to protect the world and its inhabitants from the greed of the Fallen, and the vengeance of the Devil.

Despite still having four archangels in their rank, Heaven found it to be hard to fight against the evil forces of their former brothers

The First Devil; also known as Lucifer, was once a dutiful, loyal, eldest of the Archangels and also a beloved son of God; Masoniel. He was sent to 'Hell' after causing the 'Fall of Man'.

Hell; a place where the damned that exist before even the first light of day, locked in. Those creatures are only known as demons. There are little known of them even by God himself.

Lucifer sought the ruination of everything God made, which led him to use his own blood to create a life into a new species of humanoid, which was a taboo amongst archangels.

Thus the species called Devil was created.

Under the leadership of a vengeful Lucifer, the devils broke the realm barrier of Hell and Earth, and launched the ever dreadful destruction upon all that God created.

The incident was called as the 'Beginning of the Chaos Century'.

Now onto the last Faction.

Fallen; a faction that should not have existed in the first place. Comprised of Fallen Angels and Heretics, the faction was led by the atrocious former archangel; Azrael.

Little was known on how Azrael made such wicked faction, but everyone knows that the former archangel desired to be the 'New God'.

Thus, the 'War of Everlasting Despair' began.

Unlike the its name, the war ended...

a millennium since its started.

There was a powerful being who not only ended the war, he imprisoned the First Devil for eternity and even killed the leader of the Fallen, along with the creator of all human; God.

He was dubbed as; the 'Demon'.

Along with his seven followers; the 7 Sins, they ended the war and made the rest of the three factions gave up fighting and abide to the truce he made.

There was only one thing he included in the truce; that is to not cause harms to other species other than their own.

...

"...and that was it."

The face in Ver's helmet no longer appears but her head faces the silver haired man.

"I thought a story that would be told by the 'First Ryvern' would be interesting but that was anticlimactic..."

Ryvern is visibly shaking his head as the two finally arrives at the peak of the mountain.

"But you still didn't tell me why you won't use your 'Lightning'."

Ver pester him again.

Ryvern sighs as he rolls his eyes.

"It's because the power within each Sins will resonates to the 'Lighting'-

"And for the the newly chosen Wielder, the connection will kill them instantly if they ever get close to the one who made such power."

Said the young teenager who was at the peak before, although this time exuding a more calm appearance.

"A high school student?" Ryvern

"Says you," Ver scoffs at him who disguised himself as a high school student of Atkinson Academy.

Ryvern rolls his eyes as he walks over to the boy, and stares deep into his eyes.

"Avarice."

A slight spark appears on Ryvern's hand as he speaks, "What happened, Avarice?"

"Demitrius!"

The teenager grimaces as the lightning in Ryvern's hand dissipate.

"It's nice to see you haven't changed at all!"

Ryvern chokes the young man as he raises him up in the air.

"Don't test my patience, Greed."

Avarice struggles to breath as he slaps Ryvern's hand, frantically.

"Dude, I'm kidding! Put me down!"

Ryvern releases him from his grip. Avarice desperately gasps for air as he hunches down on the ground.

"What happened and how did the Demons slip into this world?" Ryvern asked with a stern voice.

"Lux didn't tell you?" asked Avarice as he gets up on his feet.

"Lust?"

Ryvern turns to the pixie Luxuria who looks away from his glare.

Avarice shakes his head.

"Christ," he muttered before sighing. "Night went to Hell. That's what happened."

"How?"

"No one knows. We suspected each other to the point we almost killed ourselves because of it. And to make things worst we left-" Avarice pauses.

"Left what? Greed, what are you saying?"

Avarice grabs Ryvern by his shoulder, with a frantic look on his face.

"Take me to Kujo City!" Both Ryvern and Ver exchanges look.

"What do you need there?" Ver asked with her arms crossed.

Avarice turns to her.

"Hey! New girl! Adults are talking here!" He turns to Ryvern again. "Envy! He finally manifested!"

"Invidia..." Ryvern has a glum look on his face. "But why would you need to go to Kujo City?"

"We had the feeling that Lucifer has an idea as to who let Night into Hell but we all died before we went to the last Circle but him! So he might knew why Night went to Hell! And- And-"

Avarice slowly pulls away from Ryvern, as tears forms in his eyes.

"I just want to see how's my brother doing..."

Ryvern nods and glances to Ver. Ver nods in agreement.

"I'm ready when you are, boss."

Ryvern turns back to Avarice, putting a hand on his shoulder.

"Let's go, Greed."

Avarice nods at him, wiping the tears off his eyes while Ver cracks neck.

"Close your mouth if you don't want to bite your tongue."

"Wait, what did she meant by that?"

"She's our transport."

"What happened to your light- NIIIIIIIING?!!!!!!!!!"

The three of them zoom away from the mountain with trails of red lightning.
