Chapter 31 - The Shadow

Glenn was on the wall watched the minions gather to form a large herd above the bell tower. He was worried that they were going to launch an all out attack on John but instead, the minions calmed down.

"What in the hell happened?" Gina asked in disbelief. "Glenn, let's go to them."

"Wait," Glenn yelled when they were about to jump off of the wall. He pointed at the other side of the town and gasped when they saw a black cloud approach the bell tower.

It took a shape of a cloaked human carrying a staff and was passing through the air above the houses as it approached the tower.

"You go first," Glenn said. "I have to warn them about the cloud first."

"But how?" Gina asked, but then shook her head. "You do what you have to do."

The woman jumped off of the wall, leaving Glenn to climb one of the watchtowers of the wall. He casted his Tree of Life skill, but was abruptly attacked by a jet of acid.

He dodged the attack easily. He exited the watchtower and rolled away from the acid. "What the hell?"

"You're not going to get away with everything you've done to me," Bryan growled. "First, you took over my spotlight and then you pretended to save the town and you took everything from me!"

"Bryan, we don't have the time for this," Glenn said. "Whatever it is that's bothering you, let's settle it later. I'm a bit occupied at the moment."

"Acid Pour."

Fwoosh.

Glenn jumped high as the jet of acid attacked him again. This time, he was not happy. He faced Byran with the intent to fight back. "What exactly is your problem, Bryan? I thought I released you from Viros's spell."

"Oh, Viros didn't need to control me in order to hate you," Bryan said. "You're the sole reason why I didn't get the praise I deserve. I saved this town before. I should be the hero!"

"You're being ridiculous," Glenn scoffed and crossed his hands. "What exactly did you do to save this town? Watch at the sides while other people solves the problem and then take credit for it?"

"Yes!" Bryan yelled. "That's what everyone's been doing to me since I was little."

Glenn froze and was silent for a couple of seconds. "What do you mean?"

"Iā€“" Bryan paused. "Whatever, just give me the credit I deserve."

Glenn scoffed. He walked over to Bryan and sighed.

Bam!

Suddenly, the shorter man was on the floor. His eyes were wide as his hand found its way to his red cheek. "W-What?"

"Stop being ridiculous," Glenn said. "Stay there or the next time I encounter you, I won't be so nice."

Bryan was silent as Glenn went to another watchtower. The one he was on had already been melted by the acid that Bryan produced, so he was now trying to find another one.

"That little brat," Glenn grunted ss he climbed the top of the watchtower. He raised his hands to cast his skill, but he was too late. The shadow was already close to the bell tower. "Argh. Whatever. Tree of Life!"

ā€“

"My minions and I have been awakened, that's why their actions might be a bit too aggressive. Imagine waking up for the first time in centuries. You'll have all your energy with you," Philip giggled. "But I can assure you, we are herbivores and we dislike the taste of flesh."

"So, your minions attacked the citizens earlier because they got too excited after waking up," John hummed. "But why were you asleep in the first place? From what I know, the Dark Lord and his Generals were the only ones who were sealed."

"We fell into slumber along with the Dark Lord. When the Holy Knights from hundreds of years ago performed the Rapture, all the darkness in this world were sealed," Philip said. "My minions and I are part of this darkness, so when all the darkness were sealed in this world, we fell into a deep slumber and were stuck in the rift of time and space."

"But that doesn't explain why you're a herbivore or a vegetarian when the rest of your kin would kill and eat human flesh," John said. "How will you explain that?"

"Because I'm a special case," Philip replied. "Unlike the rest of the darkness' army, I always destest war and despise bloodshed. I wanted to live a peaceful life."

"Wow," John sighed. "So, what do we do to finish your Wave?"

"Wave?" Philip tilted his head to the side in confusion. "What Wave?"

A burst of white light caught their attention. When they turned to see what it was, they saw Glenn waving his hands in the air, screaming words that they couldn't hear.

"What is he saying?" John crossed his arms. They still couldn't hear Glenn, but now they felt something ominous close to them. "What's this?"

"Simile!" Gina jumped from a building. "A chain of net falling like a blanket!"

A giant chain net fell from the sky and caught all of the minions. Philip yelled at Gina, but she didn't listen. She slammed her staff to the ground and casted another skill. "Metaphor! A ground that's a dome."

When the minions were close to the ground, the earth opened and a dome of rocks and soil covered them. Gina continued casting her skill amidst the words being thrown at her by the people behind her.

When the dome fully closed, Gina sighed and released the minions from the chains. "Vanish."

"An enchanter can summon objects?" Philip narrowed his eyes. "It's the first time I've seen such feat."

"I merely changed the quality of the object," Gina said. "Oh, there was a dark cloud that was approaching. I figured it was something dangerous, so unless Glenn finds a way to solve it, we stay here."

Choo. Choo. Skrrr.

"My minions are grateful because you included them in your safety prison," Philip bowed. "They said that they were trying to warn me about the dark cloud, but I was too busy talking so I didn't get to hear them."

"Gina, what is it about this dhadow?" John asked. "Do you know what it was?"

"An Obscurus," Gina said. "An entity that affects the person and turns them evil."

"So the shadow wanted to affect Philip, right?" John asked. "This must be the actual fourth wave. Good thing we avoided it."

"Gina, it's done," Glenn's voice spoke from outside of the dome.

"It's Big Brother Healer," Cecil cheered. "He must've defeated the shadow so easily."

"He's not the Legendary Healer for nothing," Felix grinned.

While the others cheered to see Glenn again, Gina shook her head. "What the hell is that cheap trick?"

"Gina?" Glenn's voice spoke again. "Open the dome. I have gotten rid of the Obscurus."

"An Obscurus is a thing I made up you silly shadow," Gina chuckled. "You can't fool me."
