Chapter 3 - Draco

Looking up from the road, Draco realized that they had now left Shamus' neighborhood street and were now on the main road.

There were a number of other cars around them now and honks began to be heard as Draco and his attackers recklessly sped through the streets.

Draco looked at the other car and noticed that another man was climbing out of the window —it didn't take long for this one to start pointing a gun at them too.

He could also swear he heard the sounds of sirens in the distance, but that was the least of his worries right now.

Shamus wordlessly raised his gun and started firing at the man before he could aim his own weapon, and just like the previous gunmen a flash of blood could be seen before he fell out of the car and onto the asphalt below.

However, a few seconds later, yet another man climbed out of the window, but this time was holding what looked like a much bigger gun than the others.

It looked like an AK, but with half of it cut off.

'What the hell! Is this a clown car or something?!' Draco thought to himself in the heat of the moment, wondering why there were so many people in this car.

"Sh*t! He's got a Draco." Shamus shuddered when he saw the man's gun.

He raised his own gun and began to shoot, but quickly the sound of clicks could be heard followed by Shamus yelling, "F*ck, I'm out!".

Without waiting for a queue, the man raised the Draco and began firing at the Sedan. That's right, Draco was now being shot at by the very gun that he was named after!

The bullets hit the car and Draco could feel them whistling past his head as he quickly made up his mind.

Draco and Shamus were less than 10 meters away at this point, and Draco began to close the distance between the two cars while under constant fire from the SUV.

Several agonizing seconds passed before Draco was able to ram his Sedan into the back of the SUV.

The sudden impact caused the Sedan to shake and lose much of its speed and slow down, but the SUV in front of them had been jolted by the impact, and Draco saw the gunner lose his balance.

The man attempted to grab onto something to stabilize himself, but the SUV was now on the wrong side of the road and was forced to quickly swerve out of the way of an incoming car!

This sent the man flying out the window, and Draco watched as the man fell out of the SUV in a rather ridiculous manner, smashing his jaw against the road below him.

This time Draco didn't have enough space to swerve out of the way, and a sickening thump could be heard as the sedan drove over the man's body.

Draco could feel the sensation of running over the man's body through the wheel of the car, and the feeling made his stomach churn.

"Holy sh*t! ...That was intense." Draco managed to say in between heated breaths.

'I can't believe I just ran that guy over, I hope there aren't any parts of him stuck down there.' he thought to himself in disgust.

"That's gotta be all of them right? What now?" Draco asked Shamus as he continued to keep pace with the SUV in front of them while weaving between lanes to avoid hitting other cars.

However, after a few seconds had passed, Draco still didn't hear Shamus reply.

"Shamu-" Draco began to say, but his words got caught in his throat when he looked over his shoulder and saw the state Shamus was in.

Shamus was slumped forward with his body pulling against his seatbelt. This allowed Draco to see the gaping hole in the back of Shamus' head as fresh blood continued to pour down onto his lap from the hole in his forehead.

"F*ck!" Draco shouted as he struggled to hold in his lunch, after all, he had just seen several people get killed.

The sight of Shamus' destroyed head was even more horrific and threatened to send him over the edge.

Draco managed to get the steering wheel under control and quickly realized that he was in way over his head!

He didn't even know why he was chasing these people, he seemed to react purely on instinct and was spurred on by Shamus' need for revenge.

As Draco watched the SUV ahead of him begin to gain distance, he didn't even bother trying to catch up with it.

'I can't believe I'm even still alive.' he thought to himself as he took the next right turn and began to get as far away from the area as he could.

However, Draco only made it two blocks before the car's engine began to sputter out, and with a whirring grating sound the Sedan's engine completely gave out.

"Sh*t, just a little bit further!" Draco said as frustration began to surface. He started slamming his fists against the wheel as the car ground to a stop in the middle of a neighborhood street.

Looking around and realizing that there were a number of elderly people sitting on their porch and eyeing him with cautious and curious gazes, Draco knew that he couldn't stay here.

Draco looked over one last time at Shamus' corpse before he had to look away again. He shook his head as he began to gather his stuff from the backseat.

The sound of sirens were now even louder than before, and this further motivated Draco to pick up the pace.

Before leaving the car Draco seemed to remember something, he once again looked at Shamus before steeling himself. He reached over the seat and grabbed Shamus' pistol from his right hand before tucking it into his own waistband.

"Sorry Shamus, you seemed like a cool guy, but I definitely need this more than you now." he muttered quietly to himself before opening his door and stepping outside.

When Draco looked back at his car, he cursed under his breath. 'The damn thing is basically scrap now, I have no choice but to get some new wheels.' he thought.

Looking around, Draco saw that now even more people were looking at him, and some people had their phones in their hands as if they were recording or making phone calls.

Draco knew that this was a bad sign, so while carrying his backpack on one shoulder, he made a flash decision and stepped in front of a car that was driving down the street.

It was a silver pickup truck, and after Draco flagged the truck down it came to a stop in the middle of the road.

Walking up to the truck's window he heard an angry voice shouting, "The hell do you want? Get the f*ck out of the road!"

"I'd love to." Draco replied as he reached into his waistband and pulled out Shamus' gun. The gun might be empty, but Draco understood that the man in front of him didn't know that.

Pointing the gun at the man in the car Draco continued, "But first, you're going to need to get out."

After stealing the man's car, Draco was now speeding down the interstate.

Draco had decided to immediately get out of the city, but he knew that this car was quickly going to be reported as stolen, if it hadn't already.

Draco was actually surprised that he hadn't been stopped by a roadblock yet, but he knew when to count his blessings so he didn't think too hard about it and only focused on escaping.

The truth of the matter, however, was that just a few miles down the same interstate that Draco was on a massive pileup had just occurred, and the half a dozen police cruisers that had locked onto his trail had all been stopped by this untimely disaster.

On this patch of the highway, among a dozen other crashed vehicles, was a familiar black SUV with tinted windows.

To any witnesses, all they saw was a black SUV speeding down the highway at ridiculous speeds, followed closely by several police cars.

When suddenly, the black SUV seemed to have popped a tire and spun out into two other cars! This started a massive chain reaction that ended up causing a number of collisions.

For several long seconds cars continued to crash into each other on that patch of the highway while going at full speed.

Inside the black SUV, the last member of the gang that had attacked Draco and Shamus was lying with his head on the wheel, covered in the blood that was leaking from a wound on his forehead.

The man seemed to vaguely hear some loud honking noise, and he raised his head from the steering wheel just in time to see a massive eighteen-wheeler barrel into the side of his car.

This was the last thing that the man saw.

If Draco could see this he would surely praise the heavens, because this pileup had given Draco just enough time to leave the outskirts of the city and reach the Mojave Desert.

It was on one of these desert roads that Draco stole another car using the same tactic as before.

Seeing that his victim was just an old lady, Draco felt like the scum of the Earth, but he just told himself that he had to do what he had to do.

He even took the lady's phone and threw it into the desert for good measure. This was to buy himself some more time before authorities realized he had switched to another vehicle.

If all of Draco's misdeeds were put onto a list, leaving an old lady stranded in the Mojave Desert with no phone would definitely be on the top of that list.
