[Defense Aptitude has been unlocked]

[You have unlocked the skill Kinetic absorption]

"Ha, is this [World] voice?"

[Your defense capabilities have gone up by a large quantity]

[Your attack capabilities have gone up by a slight quantity]

"This is definitely world voice, ah... my body hurts all over."

I said while trying to get up from my current position, but just doing so grants me immense pain, at this point and time I began to question what happened to my hyper speed regeneration.

Any pain that I should be feeling should be rendered null upon infliction, so why do I feel so much pain?

Of course, this pain that I am feeling now is child play compared to the previous pain that I was feeling earlier.

But the question still stands, shouldn't hyper speed regeneration help in this kind of situation, but nevertheless I know better than anybody else that consistently complaining would not help me in the slightest.

So, I fought the pain and horrible cramps I was feeling all over my body, reason be just staying one spot wasn't going get me anywhere.

After I tried to sluggishly get up from the place I was laying at, my head bucked into something really hard, and when I looked up, I saw the same creepy moon Shalva created to protect her divine arms.

And also, the beautiful but rather ominous red clouds that lie above me, so why did I bump my head?

So, I placed my right hand forward in an attempt to stretch it upward completely, but that's when I noticed it.

Something transparent and glass like was blocking me from sitting up in the first place, it felt like glass, but it somehow felt really durable.

But even so I didn't want to punch it, that would be stupid, who in their right minds would punch a glass structure that literally above your head, after all, it's good to practice the basic safety procedures.

So, I tried to see if I could lift it up, and just as I expected I could lift it up rather easily, and after I lifted it up, I pushed it to the side, and it fell to the ground, surprisingly the invisible structure didn't break at all, no! it sank into the ground due to its weight.

With that out of the way I place both my hands on the edge of whatever I was in and use it to help lift my sore body out of this coffin like bed.

But surprisingly even something as simple as that was so hard to do, as I fell right back into the soft structure beneath me.

"Aw... Jesus Christ what the hell happening to me, why can't I move properly?"

I said as I slightly screeched in pain and annoyance regarding my current predicament with my body.

But just when I was laying down in pain, a figure came above me, normally it would be Shalva but, this woman is different.

Or so I think, because before me, a girl with beautiful porcelain skin, and long straight purple hair, and bright blood red eyes came before me.

Her hair was so long it embraced me with ease as I could feel like half of my body was covered by it, her face was beautiful, or I believe it should be beautiful.

Reason be I could only see the right side of her face, although it was only half, I would dare say a simple half of it outclass majority of the woman beauty back on Earth, with little to no ease at all.

While on the other side of her face going vertically upwards a black skeleton mask covers it, while on her neck was what can only describe as hang marks caused by a rope.

And in between those deep hang marks were stiches, almost as if she was behead and someone sewed it back on her neck for her.

The girl then began to speak in a melancholic tone as she said.

"I see you're finally awake, how are you feeling."

Right after she spoke like that, I could definitely confirm that this beautiful woman was indeed Shalva, but why did she decide to reveal her face now, well half of it that is.

But nevertheless, I didn't question it, I will never understand a woman motive or the way they think, so I decide to answer Shalva question.

"Honestly speaking I feel like crap, what happened to my body Shalva, why do I feel like I survived the truck accident from my previous life."

I said in a sarcastic tone to imply how I felt at this time and moment.

"The reason you feel this way is because your body is reforming, that means your flesh is being torn apart, some of your bones are being slightly broken and put back in place, some organs are being slowly crushed and rebuild, while new organ are being created and re distributed in different locations, and places all at once, so your hyper speed regeneration is put to a pause till completion."

Spoke Shalva as she proceeds to continue her explanation.

"Although the fusion is successful, it isn't complete, Yarklane still needs to become one with your body, both in soul and mind and the body process is only finishing, if anything, if you want Yarklane to be one with you at perfect level it will take another six months at best."

"Is this truly because of the new bio armor you made for me?"

"Yeah, I made it to be the strongest armor in the world."

Announce Shalva who raised her head in pride for her greatest creation ever.

"The strongest armor you say, so is Yarklane invincible?"

"No but once damaged by an attack it couldn't protect its master from it as it will adapt to the former attack instantly, so the second time it is hit by the same attack it won't harm you again."

"Adaptable armor is interesting indeed, you must be a very skilled blacksmith if you can make an armor of this caliber, and in five days at that."

Upon those words she crossed her arm as she began laughing smugly, it was clear she was been arrogant but in a good way as she said

"Fufufu... Of course, I am great, after all I take pride in my creations, praise me more, praise me more."

When I look at this, I sigh to myself as I could only think to myself.

"This woman is desperate for attention, but nevertheless I am grateful to her in more ways than one, she at least deserves this much compliment."

"Yes, yes, yes you're the great Shalvaveesha I am thankful."

"Of course, respect must be shown, after all Author-sama I work really hard to make Yarklane so praise me more, praise me for my efforts."

And so, I did, and for five minutes I literally lowered myself to praise Shalva, then and again I respect people who believe in hard work, unlike others who take credit for someone else.

And after I bath Shalva in compliment I grow tired as I lay down, I look back at her and ask.

"So, Shalva, can I ask some questions?"

"Of course, ask away."

"First of all, it would appear that I'm inside something, what is this thing in laying in?"

"You're inside a coffin, but not just any coffin, the name of this coffin is call [warmth of the death God] it's one of my skills, this will speed up your healing process by two months so I would suggest you stay in their till its complete, don't worry I will take care of you till then."

Shalva said with a teasing and smug look on her face, as she laughed slightly while speaking.

"Fufu... Lucky you Author... you have a half beautiful death Goddess taking care of you while you are on your sick bed, many people would be envious you know."

"I see very well then, well I will call you if I need anything bye-bye."

Upon saying that Shalva had a surprised look, along with a look of clear disappointment in herself or maybe even me but egh... woman bipolar nature is beyond me.

"Haa.. sigh so teasing doesn't work on you... how boring... I was at least expecting a slight blush."

"Yeah... there was a time it uses to work but that was when I was in high school, and puberty was such a hassle and a challenge even for simple man such as myself, but woman is not needed for the mere fact I experience it differently."

"Oh... do tell."

"Ha talk about what?"

"Your life stories of course, we do have time, and I have a lot of free time, well that till I see you off when you go into the Doom box as I have to go somewhere."

"Egh... My life is just as you said, it's boring, it's plain, it's not worth telling."

Shalva looked at me with a pleading look, is this girl that starved and desperate for attention, sigh I guess I could tell her a little about myself, but I'm not a very sociable person, because if it's not related to work, I don't know how to communicate with others in anything else.

Call it one of my biggest flaws, as a simple man without any friends to talk to, if anything my whole life is just me trying to get bye and make an honest living.

I had my own reason I didn't interact with woman, but it ironic I work at an all-girl school, if anything I got the job through my cousin Alsan, if anything he said I was the perfect person for the job for many reasons.

So, I looked at Shalva and spoke.

"Fine you win."

Her face had an obvious excitement to it as she said.

"Yeah, story time."

"But before that, I have a question."

"And that is?"

"Why is a blanket on me, I'm not cold or anything you know."

"Oh, that basically my entire dress and underwear transform into a blanket, and before you panic my underwear and dress has a healing effect."

"I see."

"How boring, come one I said panic as way to make you panic, why are you so dense?"

"Don't know."

"It's even worse that you're aware of it, sigh what was I thinking, I'm talking to a person who values efficiency and simplicity over everything else, can't you free up a little, have fun for Christ's sake."

"Is that last part a reference to my old world."

"Agh... Believe it or not Author-sama we have a lot to work on, it's the very reason I want to know more about you, I feel as if your indifferent behavior to everything around you, stems from something deeper than your upbringing, something that you yourself isn't aware of or simply don't understand, or maybe I'm missing something."

Spoke Shlava who for some reason had a genuine concern for my very being, honestly what her case, I'm serious I'm happy with my life, Well I think I am, honestly, I don't know.

But is there a reason I should seek this thing called fun, if anything it sounds like a waste of time and energy, it's better to put that energy into something else more proactive, because efficiency is key to living a simple and moderate life.

Of course, I didn't let Shalva sudden concern attitude toward me bothers me in the slightest, but I do demand an answer to why she is behaving this way.

"Why does my simple existence bother you so much?"

I ask in genuine confusion plastered upon my face.

And upon asking that question she sighed deeply as she said with a guilt ridden on her face.

"Sigh... Honestly Author the reason I'm so concerned for you is because your destine to fight both monsters and Outers, been an adventure is one thing, but becoming a hero is something completely different on its own, and in more ways than one at that."

"I don't understand."

I respond with an even more genuine confusion on my face.

"Look been an adventure is dangerous, you die, and majority of the time other adventures can't even bring back their fallen comrades' bodies, and sometime none of them even return."

"While being a hero is like fighting a bloody war, you get stab, you get cut, you lose a limb, you go blind, you become cripple, you die, in short you fight with your life on the line in more ways than one."

"And you have to live in fear of your life every second, that why we encourage our heroes of another world to live and enjoy their live her as much as possible, because if you die, at least both us and you yourself know you die living a life you can appreciate, you die a life worth mentioning."

"Believe it or not Author-sama, out of the first batch of heroes that we summon, three of them are already married, have children, and have made a name for themselves, and the other seven are enjoying life to their fullest, I'm concern about you Author-sama, you seem like the type that waste their entire life doing nothing but think their accomplishing something greater at the end of it."

"When you die, many will remember you for a while, but in this world, heroes come and go, hence the reason they are appreciated at first, then bam more heroes come along the way, what do think will happen when more capable heroes come along."

"They are pushed aside; it is obvious that someone more capable will replace the less capable one, it's called investment, discard the old for the new and better, and invest in it, th...

"No! no! no! you idiot, they are forgotten do you want to be forgotten Author-sama?"

Ask Shlava with an anger and concerned face, of course I answer the only way I know how to.

"What wrong in been forgotten, life isn't meant to achieve some grand goal so other people can remember you for it, really why those everyone wishes to be on a pedestal of sort, human or any other race wasn't created to achieve anything except reproduction and survival, that the only purpose in life."

"Author-sama you're looking at life the wrong way doesn't you want a family, don't want friends, don't you want sucess and admiration."

"..."

"Sigh ok then let me help you change your perspective of life then."

"I don't see the need nor the reason for such an insignificant task, that just sounds like a waste of time, we could be using this wasted time to figure out a way to speed up my healing process."

"No, you need to open your eyes, do you really want to live a boring life in this world as well work aside of course."

"If it means doing something more productive then yes."

"Sigh I have a lot to teach you."

"Which you don't have to."

I said as a way to save time and energy, because the quicker I can get in the doom box the more I can train for my new job, but Shalva just ignored me as she asks.

"Ok first of all what makes you happy?"

"Money."

"Why?"

"To survive."

"What makes you happy?"

"Mon...

"Apart from money."

"The news."

"Why?"

"Because it tells you valuable information regarding our everyday society."

"That sounds even more boring, do you watch anything else apart from the news."

"No, it's a waste of energy and time, and I prefer to keep my cable bill at a minimal amount, all that money can go into something more useful after all."

"Do you like partying then?"

Ask Shalva hoping I say yes.

"Never went to one."

"A family outing."

"My mother is dead, my brother is dead, and the only cousin I had is most likely dead now since I have been healing in this place for over 500 years."

"..."

"..."

"..."

"..."

"..."

"How about your father."

"Left to buy milk thirty years ago never saw him again after that either."

"..."

"..."

"..."

"..."

"Any hobbies."

"Making schedules."

"Anything else."

"Avoiding taxes as much as I can."

Anything that is not money related

"Discipline unruly girls by bashing their heads in."

"What a weird hobby for what reason?"

Ask Shlava with genuine concern at my last statement.

"Because I believe in gender equality."

That last statement sent shivers down Shlava back for some reason, as she tried to change the subject right away.

"Any kids then, I'm sure kids would make any man happy despite their rudeness and mischief."

"No, never had one, seem expensive."

"Do you even hear yourself right now?"

Shalva said with even more worry on her face.

"How about a girlfriend or wife at least?"

"Those are also very expensive."

"Why though love is a beautiful thing, maybe if you had it, you wouldn't be this way."

"That's beyond me so."

I replied with clear indifference of my face

"Why?"

"One because I'm impotent due to rare disease, two because it sounds like a waste of time, three it going to mess up my daily life, four I don't know how to interact with others, five I hate noisy and annoying things, Six I bel...

But before I could even finish Shlava placed both her hands on her mouth in genuine shock, as she shouted out.

"Can you repeat that again Author-sama."

"I hate noisy and annoying things."

"No! before that."

"I don't know how to interact with others."

"No! no! no! the first one."

"I'm impotent."

"..."

"..."

"..."

"..."

"What!"

shouted Shlava in complete shock.
