Chapter 23 - It's time to make some money (4)

The next day, I awoke to find that my classes were running as usual, that no one was concerned about me, and that I was having a typical day.

I took a seat in my normal spot. Obviously, no one sat next to me and began paying attention to the lecture. The only issue is that I am unable to comprehend any of the topics discussed by the professor.

"If I don't do something about this, I'm doomed."

Horizon includes both physical and theoretical exams in addition to physical assessments. It will also have a significant impact on your ranking. Combat training accounted for about 60% of the grade, with the remaining 40% coming from theoretical exams. If I keep dozing in class like this, I'll be kicked from this university in no time. And I need to stay in Horizon in order to strengthen myself. So I'll have to make preparations for it. I don't require excellent grades. I'll be delighted if I obtain just enough marks to pass the exam.

Thinking about it isn't going to help; it's simply going to make my headache worse. I already have a lot on my plate for this weekend, so I'll have to think about it later.

Leaving that aside, there appears to be another issue. Some high-ranking individual is often staring at me. Yes, it is correct. You may have figured it out already. It's Trina Mason. I had hoped she wouldn't mind, but that does not appear to be the case in this case.

Others would have assumed she would have eliminated it, but she is well aware that she was not the one who eliminated the second one. She might be suspicious that I'm concealing something, therefore she's interested. It's understandable that someone of my status would find it impossible to slay the Blazing Horned Bull on his own unless he's hiding something.

If that wasn't the case, she wouldn't give a damn about people like me. No one in the class or on campus will believe Trina Mason cares about me. As a result, there's no need to be concerned about other people.

As a result, I simply ignored her. I'm not sure if she'll be angry, but I'll leave it to the future. She's waiting there, waiting for me to approach her. Approaching someone like me will be a disgrace for her, therefore I no need to be concerned about it.

So I didn't even look her in the eyes. That is the most effective strategy to avoid getting into trouble.

The class came to an end after a while, and I hastily exited the room.

****

"That fucking idiot really ignored me, ha" Trina Mason was visibly enraged.

"All I have to do now is kill you in the next training session." Trina is humming quietly to herself.

Her personality is twisted. People like her don't like it when others neglect them. However, if someone of a lower rank ignores her, they will be considered dead meat.

"So, who are you going to kill, ha?" As she was gathering her belongings, Ivy Morris approached from behind

"No nothing."

"No, tell me who you're going to kill. John might be able to assist you " Ivy teased Trina.

"..." Trina flashed Ivy a menacing glance.

"Ok ok, I am sorry. I was just joking." Ivy promptly expressed her regret.

"Look around, Thomas, John, and Andrea are all waiting for you. You are the only one who is running late. Come on, let's get going." Trina was dragged out of class by Ivy, and the two of them left.

I'm not sure why I felt cold all of a sudden, as if someone was plotting something behind me.

Whatever the case may be.

I dressed immediately and headed to the training grounds. This week, I need to increase my sword art proficiency as much as possible. I'm not sure what kind of trouble I'll get into on the black market. If something goes wrong, I'll need enough strength to getaway.

In the evenings, I began training my sword technique, and in the mornings, I began drifting steps. That was why I was often dozing off in class. Apart from Jane's lesson, I'm spending my class time sleeping. So I'm making up for lost sleep time there. If you don't have a training room, this is a problem you'll have to deal with.

The rooms at Horizon were assigned to us according to our ranks. I'm in Hostel Block D, which is for students with lower ranks. Intermediate-ranking students would be housed in Hostel blocks B and C. The high-ranking students are housed in Hostel Block A.

Both B and C blocks, unlike D, have their own training rooms. However, the B block has better circumstances than the C block. It's just out of my league when it comes to A block. It will resemble a miniature palace. They have their own cafeteria, as well as quite large rooms and much larger training space. Other than the inmates, no other students will be permitted, and they will be guarded by high-ranking bodyguards. If they like, they can even hire a personal butler.

It should come as no surprise that these students represent the human domain's future, and the Union wishes to provide them with the finest possible environment in which to thrive. So that explains all of the extravagances. And this will motivate others in the lower intermediate ranks to strive harder in order to obtain such benefits.

Sigh. Whatever the case may be. I drew my sword and began practicing.

Swish! Swish!

Jane checked the clock on her tablet as she walked down the corridor.

She had just finished a meeting and was exhausted. Jane couldn't help but despise those old foxes for wasting her time with those worthless meetings when she thought back on the meeting she had just attended.

The majority of the meeting time was spent on budget allocations and which subjects should have their budgets boosted and which should have their budgets reduced.

Jane had had enough of the senseless fighting and excused herself after an hour.

She had a fleeting glimpse of the training ground through the window as she walked.

The figure of a lovely kid effortlessly sparring against one of the training dolls was the first thing that drew her eye.

It was a genuinely hypnotic sight.

Jane, too, became engrossed in the scene for a few moments before snapping out of it.

"How fascinating"

She couldn't explain why, but she was entranced by the boy's swordplay every now and again.

She had been paying close attention to him since the first time she saw him. He was going to make it big in the future, she could tell just by looking at him.

She entered by swiping the card that led to the training facility.

"I have to say, I can't help but be intrigued by your swordsmanship anytime I see it."

Thomas was startled and abruptly stopped what he was doing to gaze at the gorgeous figure smoothly approaching him.

"Miss Jane?"

"What's up with your expression, like you're seeing a ghost or something?"

He greeted Jane while maintaining his position.

"Good evening, Miss Jane,"

"I was quite impressed with your training session performance."

Tilting her head sideways, Jane teasingly looked at Thomas who was sweating all over.

"However, there were a few areas where you could improve. Your swordsmanship is really graceful, however, it appears that your body is having trouble following what your brain wants to do. Isn't that so?"

After a few moments of staring at the table, Thomas took a deep breath and turned to face Jane.

"Yes, Miss Jane. You are correct. So, what should I do now?"

"What should you do? It's actually not that difficult of a problem."

She motioned to the Gravity room, which was located on the opposite side of the training facility.

"I recommend you to tamper your body inside the gravity room so that your body can keep up with your brain."

"Understood!"

He thanked Jane for her advice and immediately made his way towards the Gravity room, wiping away the sweat that had collected on his body.

Jane couldn't help but smile with satisfaction when she saw how dedicated Thomas was.

She was on her way out after a few minutes of observing Thomas.

Then she discovered another individual on the training grounds.

She discovered who that person was after taking a closer look. The one who annoys her the most.

"David Foster"

He stood alone in the corner of the training area, swinging his sword.

She was overjoyed at first.

Who doesn't like it when their students put in a lot of effort?

But when she witnessed his strange gestures, she was taken aback.

"Why does he keep swinging his blade in that manner? Is it possible that my instincts about him are incorrect?"

She remembered the training video she had seen the day before and was wary of him. But now she is thinking about it.

She had lost all interest in him and was on her way out.

Then, for a split second, she witnessed a flawless vertical slice that appeared to be cutting down anything in its path.

She then shook her head and resumed her observation of him. However, all she witnessed were his awkward sword swings.

"Did I make a mistake?"

Her gut instincts tell her otherwise.

"I suppose I should keep an even closer eye on him now."

Then she looked at her watch, which showed that it was already late. She has a meeting with the board the next day.

So she decided to come to a halt and examine him at a later time.

She then took out her diary and jotted down his name.

"David Foster. I'll keep your name in mind."

Jane Doherty gave him her undivided attention in this way.
