Chapter 3 - Searching For Identity

"Welcome to Irisbow, the world of wizards of color," said Ivory with a smile.

I was flabbergasted, I tried to digest what he just said, the world of color wizards? Am I dreaming, this really doesn't make sense? I looked at the girl in front of me asking for an explanation, she just smiled and held out her hand to me. I finally accepted her outstretched hand and followed her out of the room.

"Wait a minute," said Tuscany, stopping us.

"You can't dress like that, let me change yours," she continued.

She mumbled something and my shirt changed into a rainbow-colored long robe without any motif. Tuscany smiled contentedly, her head motioning for us to leave.

"How can you let it go, Ivory, when we have absolutely no idea where it came from?" Vermilion glared at Ivory.

"You know not just anyone can have this wand, and I'm sure there's a reason why she has one," Ivory said.

"But why is the wand colorless?" ask Lagoon.

"I don't know, it's a secret we have to solve. Even Irisbow herself has a lot of secrets that we don't know yet," answered Ivory.

Nesa POV on

"Can you explain about this world?" I stopped my steps.

"As the higher-ups said, you are in Irisbow, the world of colored mages," Selly explained.

"Then what is an order? You also asked me the first time we met."

"The order is a kind of group to know your strength which is symbolized by color, and I of the topaz order, with yellow stone, have the power of the mind," she explained, pointing to the yellow stone on his staff.

"Can you explain in more detail?"

Selly nodded, she sat on the bench and motioned for me to sit down. "It's going to be a long time, sit down and listen,"

"In the world of Irisbow, there are six orders from which people will get an order when they are 15 years old. You will be given special training from childhood to know which order you will get."

"The six orders consist of the topaz order like mine, the ruby order which is red in color and has powers associated with the limbs. The blue sapphire message had the power of disappearing and teleporting. Order emeralds are green in color and have powers associated with nature. The order of diamonds, which is white in color and has a power associated with kindness, and the order of onyx, an order that people rarely have. You know why?" Selly asked me a question.

I shook my head. "Order onyx is black and has a power related to evil, if the owner can't control it then he will be controlled by his own power, it will boomerang on the owner," explained Selly.

"How many here belong to the order of onyx?" I ask.

"About a hundred people, but only tens can control his power, the rest are locked up in the dungeon until he can control his strength,"

"Can people here not have an order?"

"Yes, but very rarely, either because he's not talented or because nature hates him," explained Selly.

"Then your eyes and hair, do you follow the order you have?"

"Yes, when you have been selected to follow which order, then your hair and eyes will change automatically,"

"Likewise if you get the onyx order? That's why you think I'm from the onyx order?"

Sally nodded. "If you haven't received the order, your eyes and hair are purple," Selly continued.

"Can the color of his hair and eyes be different?" I ask. I remember the man I met in a dream, his hair and eyes were different colors.

"That's impossible, in my life I have never seen eyes and hair of a different color," said Selly.

I nodded in understanding, my mind wandering remembering the man I met in a dream, the wand he had was very similar to the one in this world. Either he is a real person or just someone I met in a dream.

"Selly, who is she? Why are her robes colorful?"

A red-haired boy looked at me confused, he must be from the ruby order.

"She's Nesa, she lost his strength, Tuscany asked me to train him to get his strength back," said Selly.

"Aaah, you're the girl tied up in the field just now right?' shouted the boy, pointing at me.

I just nodded, I'm still getting used to the appearance of the people here, colorful. Completely different from humans.

"Introduce me Cloe Elbana," he said as he held out his hand to me.

I welcomed his outstretched hand, but his fingers suddenly turned into a bunch. I stepped back, I tried to free my hand from him but his fingers tightly tied mine. I'm shaking, this is really scary.

"Cloe stop, you scared her," Selly glared at Cloe

Cloe burst out laughing at my expression, slowly changing his finger to normal. "Aah I'm sorry, I just wanted an unusual introduction,"

I looked at Cloe worriedly, seeing his fingers turn into a lot is not funny.

"You have to get used to it Nes, what you saw earlier was just a normal thing, you will see a lot of strange things here," said Selly while looking at me.

I was shocked to hear Selly's words, seeing the finger changed so much was enough to scare me, what's scarier? I shudder to think about it.

"But which order are you from in the first place? Why are your hair and eyes black?" Cloe asked me.

"I don't know, I don't know anything,"

"Hey, did she lose his memory," Cloe whispered to Selly.

"You're stupid, Cloe, Nesa can hear you," Selly snorted in annoyance.

Cloe just smiled in response to Selly's words. "It's possible, the higher-ups didn't tell me anything," said Selly.

Ding dong

The sound of the bell rang loudly, the sky slowly changed color divided into 6 parts, representing the colors of all orders.

"What's that?" I asked confused.

"The twilight bells signal that it will soon be night. We'd better hurry to the academy, night practice will start soon," said Selly.

Selly walked towards a building followed by Cloe, I followed them. I looked around, many mages came out, the bright color of their robes filled the world.

"What is night practice?" I asked on the way.

"This is a school to practice your skills, from low to high level," explains Cloe.

"Can I practice my skills there?" I ask.

"Sure, but you might feel uncomfortable when you get there," said Selly.

"Why?" I was confused to hear Selly's answer. I looked at Selly, she just smiled and so did Cloe, he chuckled seeing my confused expression.

We arrived at a palace-like building with 6 columns of different colors in front of it. Irisbow Academy, the words engraved on the walls of the building, must be the name of this school, I thought. We entered a very spacious room, there were a lot of people, from children to adults and all were wearing robes of the color they ordered.

I saw in the corner of the room there were hands that turned into many with sharp nails ready to claw at the man in front of him, but before hitting the man's body a root wrapped around the hand of the man who was about to attack him earlier. But as quickly as the nails of the other man extended and slashed at the roots encircling his hands, the nails swiftly headed for the face of the man in front of him, ready to claw but before a log wrapped his face.

"Nesa, what are you looking at? Seriously," Selly asked, interrupting my thoughts.

"What are they doing?" I pointed at the two men who were still attacking each other but the people around them seemed engrossed in watching.

"Ahhh, they are practicing, let's go there," Selly pulled my hand towards the two men who were attacking each other.

"The red-haired man, he's Felix Inkalax. As for the green-haired man, it was Raul Wandala. You could say that people are great in their strength," said Selly, her eyes never leaving the two people who were still attacking each other.

I just nodded hearing Selly's explanation. The two are still attacking each other. This time Raul launched an attack, water rushing towards Felix's body which instantly turned into ice with a pointed tip. But Felix quickly shrunk his body so that Raul's attack missed and aimed at me who was right behind Felix.

I closed my eyes, but I didn't feel Raul's attack hit me, only splashes of water and heat I felt. I opened my eyes, I saw the man in front of me and the fire that melted the ice from Raul's attack.

"Be careful when practicing," said the man in front of me.

"Ah sorry Rex, I was too excited," said Raul while scratching the back of his neck.

"But who is behind you?" asked Raul.

Eyes immediately fell on me, whispers began to sound.

"Why is she wearing a rainbow outfit?"

"The wand is colorless but the hair is black"

"Isn't she the girl who was tied up this afternoon?"

Various expressions came out of their faces, this made me feel uncomfortable. I lowered my face, I squeezed my robe to calm myself.

"Raise your face Nesa," said the man in front of me.

I raised my head, I was flabbergasted. He looked a lot like the man I met in my dream, only that his hair was green instead of white.

"You ..."

"What are you doing, quickly line up according to your respective orders,"

Before I could finish my words, the black-robed man spoke loudly. The man in front of me immediately left, I wanted to chase him but the black-robed man called out to me.

"You're Nesa, right?"

I just nodded, my eyes still fixed on the man earlier. I saw Selly wave her hand at me who immediately disappeared into the crowd.

"Introduce me to Olaf Gelvana, I'm the head coach here,"

I stared at the man in front of me, long curly black hair in a black robe, like an evil wizard if I didn't know he was a trainer here.

"What do I have to do?" I ask.

"The higher-ups have told me about you," he said. His eyes were fixed on the stick at my waist.

"I will train you until you find your strength. Follow me,"

He entered a room that was not too big but filled with books neatly arranged on the shelves, this room was like a library. Olaf took a book and placed it in front of me.

"Study this book, if you have called me. Don't forget your wand, it's connected to you," Olaf said.

He immediately left me in the room. I opened the book, there are many languages I don't understand and I can't read. I turned to the next page, I hoped for an explanation, but nothing, just some weird writing.

"He said he would teach me but instead I was only given books in foreign languages," I grumbled annoyed.

I looked around hoping someone could help me understand the language in the book, but no, there were only books in the same language.

'Don't forget your wand, it's connected to you', Olaf's words ring in my head. I grabbed my wand and looked at him.

"What should I do with this stick?" I sighed, I wish this wand could talk.

"Hey stick help me!" I raised my wand hoping something would happen but to no avail.

I looked down, I really didn't know what to do. If Selly or Cloe were here, I could ask them.

'Mom dad helps me' I said to myself.

"Why does my father have this stick? How come after 19 years I just saw this stick?"

Many questions arise in my mind. I tried to remember what happened before. I remember I met that man in a dream then I saw this stick in my house after 19 years.

"Father, what really happened?" I rubbed my face in frustration.

I ended up trying to point the stick at the front of the book hoping something would happen. One minute, two minutes, nothing happens. I sighed, I gave up. When I tried to raise my wand, a white light shot out and filled the room.

After the white light disappeared I looked at the book and could immediately read the writing on the book. I immediately turned to the first page.

"Silabasila," I said the words in the first line, a green light flashed from my wand, the stone on my wand turned green.

"Laviolaravila," white light shot out of my wand and the stone turned white.

I continued reading the line below, a different colored light emanating from my wand every time I read the words on the line. I finally understood this inscription was some kind of spell to emit light from a wand.

I continued reading the book, finally I understood the book which contains about how to get the order, an explanation of all the powers of the order and how to train it.

I repeated chanting to get the order because according to the book, the order will choose you after you've read all the spells. But nothing happened to my wand, only a different colored light appeared every time I cast a different spell.

"Why didn't anything happen? Did I read it wrong or because I am not from this world?" I sighed in confusion.

"You're human aren't you?"

I heard someone's voice, I turned around but there was no one.

"Next to you," said the voice again. I turned, slowly I saw a transparent figure that was getting clearer. I took a step back, a woman with short blue hair smiled at me, her blue eyes shining in the dim light of the room.

"Who are you? How did you get in?"

She took the chair in front of her and sat down. "I am Irene Adler, I am from the sapphire order. Of course, you know what I mean right?"

"Did you just use your lost power?" I ask. I remember Selly's words about the power of the sapphire order.

She nodded, her hand reaching for the book I was reading. "You want to get orders, can humans get orders?" she asked sarcastically.

"How did you know I was human?" I ask. I felt an unfriendly aura from her.

"I don't know," she looked into my eyes. "I'm just a person who loves knowledge," she said with a chuckle.

She walked towards the exit waving her hand at me, but his footsteps stopped.

"I hope you and I find the answer,"

She disappeared after saying that. The door opened, I saw Olaf coming towards me.

"What's wrong Nesa?" asked Olaf when he saw me frozen.

I shook my head. "Nothing, coach,"

"What about the book, are you done?"

"Already coach, I read all the spells to get the order but my wand just changed color nothing settled on my stone according to the instructions in the book,"

Olaf was silent for a moment after listening to my explanation. "Enough for today, go back to the dorms."

After that Olaf immediately left me. I came out of the room, I saw the others were also pouring out, maybe their practice was over.

"Nesa,"

Selly waved at me, I saw Cloe and the man I met in a dream beside her.

"Did you just finish training?" I ask.

"Yes, and you know Nes? I started to be able to control my telekinesis ability," said Selly happily.

I didn't answer her words, my eyes fell on the man beside Cloe.

"Nes, are you listening to me?" Selly said annoyed because she felt ignored. She followed my gaze.

"Ah right you haven't met him, he's Rex Oliver," said Selly.

"Have we met before?" I say.

Selly and Cloe were surprised to hear my question, they looked at Rex waiting for an answer from him.

"No, it's the first time," Rex said coldly.

He left as soon as he answered my question, Cloe chased after him and waved at us. Selly looked into my eyes asking for an explanation of my question.

"I just feel like I've met his before," I said. I don't want to tell her my dream.

Sally just nodded. "Then what did you learn today? I saw you with coach Olaf,"

I told her what I was doing in the room but I didn't tell her about my meeting with Irene Adler.

"You're great, not everyone with wands immediately reacts to the spell," said Selly with sparkling eyes

"You will definitely get your strength back, Nes," Selly said confidently.

I smiled hearing her words, we headed to the dormitory to rest. I hope tomorrow goes well.

Nesa POV off

---

"How is Olaf doing?" Ivory asked.

"More than I thought, Ivory, she can read his writing and her wand reacts instantly to the spell she casts," Olaf said.

"As expected there is something different about that kid. Keep an eye on Olaf's progress."

Olaf nodded and left the room. Unbeknownst to them, a figure was eavesdropping on their conversation.
