Elder Biang waved his hand, and the orb floated down before the first member. "Just put your hand on it for a few moments, and it will change color."
The man it floated before nodded his head, reaching his hand out onto the orb. The man held it there for a few seconds before the energy swirled and color began to take hold.
The once cloudy orb began to glow with soft yellow light, like the sun peaking through the clouds.
Seeing this, Elder Biang raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything. He only shifted the orb to the next person.
The following person excitedly grabbed onto the orb, and in the same way, it began to glow with a similar yellow light.
An even more surprised expression crossed onto Elder Biang's face, but he quickly went back to a poker face. 'So far, their talents are quite good. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest.'
The third person to grab the orb was an elderly woman with greying hair. She looked even older than the Senior floating over everyone. With a gentle hand, she grabbed the sphere. Soon, the orb shifted, and a green color began to shine, similar to Wendy.
Both Wendy and Elder Biang couldn't hide the surprise on their faces. But, the elderly woman didn't pay that much attention. With a warm smile, she looked up at Wendy. "Looks like we have the same talent, Deary. Maybe one day, you can teach this old woman to fly."
Wendy was shocked for a second but refocused. "Y-yes, I'd be happy to."
The same warm smile stayed on the elderly woman's face as she slid the orb through the air to the next person.
The following person reached up, and after a few seconds, it changed yellow. Then the next person, yellow. And the next, green. Then yellow, yellow, yellow, green, green, yellow.
The more people who grabbed the sphere, the more shocked Wendy and Elder Biang felt. Elder Biang even used a different orb because he thought this one might be defective. However, nothing changed. The lowest result was still yellow, with several greens mixed within.
The orb then flew to the young boy, who asked if they would be able to fly. When he placed his hands onto the sphere, it began to shift and shimmer before a blue color appeared, shocking Wendy and Elder Biang. They didn't even hide their shock anymore as Wendy whispered. "Incredible."
The young boy heard Wendy's words and showed a proud smile. He didn't have any idea how good having a blue talent was, but from their reactions, it had to be at least better than the others, and he was the only one who had it. How could he not be a little proud? Especially considering he was only a twelve-year-old boy.
Elder Biang then floated down right before the boy. "Boy, if you make it the second circle. Come and find the Silver Spirit Sect. Show them this talisman, and they will bring you to me." Elder Biang then took out a small slip, seemingly made from a type of jade, and handed it to the boy.
The boy nodded and took the talisman happily. "Thanks, Grandpa! I'll make sure to come and see you!"
Elder Biang momentarily froze when he was called Grandpa, but he didn't dwell on it for long. After all, the sect leader said they might be a bit weird.
The orb then floated to a familiar brown-haired young man with a teasing smile on his face.
When he saw the boy, Elder Biang's smile immediately fell. He then 'accidentally' moved the orb a little too fast and hit the boy in the stomach, making him hunch over. "Oh my, I'm so sorry."
"It's okay, Grandpa. Your eyes probably aren't what they used to be." Jaime let out a faint cough/laugh as he stood back up.
Jaime's comment rubbed Elder Biang the wrong way, but he simply ignored it. After all of the testing, he wasn't concerned with this boy anymore.
However, just because Elder Biang decided to hold his tongue, doesn't mean Wendy would. "He isn't your Grandpa. And, hurry up and test. I want to see you be the first person who gets lower than yellow. You'll probably be the only one who does."
Jaime's smirk only grew when he heard Wendy's comment. He shifted his eyes to her figure still floating in the air. "My love, I am only getting used to calling him Grandpa for when we are married, and he truly is my grandpa."
Wendy's face went so red with anger and embarrassment at this point; she looked like a tomato. Even her ears were red. But Jaime didn't stop there.
"And, if I must show my talents for you to accept me, then so be it. Just know, my talents are directly related to my heart. The stronger my love, the more impressive my talents. And right now, all of my love is for you."
After his gaudy speech, Jaime immediately grabbed the orb. The energy within spun before a deep indigo color spread from the center. Soon the whole sphere filled with a beautiful deep indigo color. "Ah, the color of my love." Jamie sighed, removing his hand from the orb.
He returned his attention to Elder Biang, standing right in front of him. But Elder Biang was totally out of it! He had a dazed looked on his face as he stared at Jaime.
Jaime then looked up at Wendy only to see an equally, if not more, shocked girl staring back. It seemed like Wendy was in the middle of trying to form a sentence when her brain had malfunctioned. Her mouth was wide open, but she wasn't saying anything.
Jaime, of course, took this as a sign that he was actually super talented. He pushed down the excitement rising in his chest before puffing it out. "I guess that my humble self is actually a total badass. My success is all thanks to you, my love. Your beauty has inspired me to do my best, and until you reciprocate my feelings, I shall continue to do my best."
Jaime's flirtatious words snapped Elder Biang out of his daze, but he still gave a long look at the boy in front of him. The boy who, only moments before, seemed like a complete nuisance now looked far more reliable.
Elder Biang then held a talisman out toward Jaime. The same as he gave the other boy. "Same story applies. If you make it to the second circle, come find me."
"I will be looking forward to it, Granddad." The smirk grew wider on Jaime's face as he swiped the talisman from the elder's hand. He then lifted it toward Wendy. "Looks like I now have an in. I will see you again, my love."
Wendy watched the brown-haired boy in a daze. That face that she wanted to punch more than anything only seconds prior now seemed quite charming. She only nodded her head at his words, still in a daze.
Seeing how his granddaughter behaved, Elder Biang could only shake his head. However, he couldn't fault the girl. In fact, if she could become close with someone as talented as the young man before him, then he would be quite happy.
Elder Biang then cleared his throat and passed the orb to the boy beside Jaime. "Your turn."
The boy looked to be about the same age as Jaime. He had a shorter, thin frame, whereas Jaime had a taller, more muscular frame. His black hair was long and unkempt, going a little past his jaw and covering parts of his face. His face was semi-plain but still handsome, especially his blue eyes that seemed to be marveling at the sights around him. This boy was, of course, Cain.
Cain looked at Elder Biang and nodded, reaching his hand onto the orb. The orb began to shift and change. As it did, a red color began to creep into the sphere.
Looking at the color, Elder Biang sighed internally. 'I guess this strange group really does have some normal people.'
However, just as he began to think that, a strange thing began to happen. An orange color appeared right beside where the red was floating.
Elder Biang became confused when he saw this as he had never seen anything like it before. However, he didn't interrupt and only watched the scene unfold.
Once the orange stabilized within the orb, a yellow color then appeared. Then once the yellow stabilized, a green color appeared. Then a blue. Then indigo.
At this point, Elder Biang was in shock. Even more so than when Jaime got an indigo color. The elderly man still didn't know what was happening, but it was a good sign if the boy could hit indigo. And, if violet appeared, this was a bigger deal than he thought.
Cain had no idea what Elder Biang was thinking and only focused on the orb. He was mesmerized by the beautiful colors mixing within. A small tear rolled down his cheek as he looked at the colors, blending perfectly together. "Beautiful."
Finally, after the indigo color stabilized, a bright violet appeared within. At this point, Elder Biang was beyond shocked. He couldn't fathom the talent contained within the boy before him. He had never seen, nor heard of, an event like this happening.
Jaime, standing beside Cain, also stared in awe at the beauty of the crystal. "Amazing, I've never been this close to a rainbow before."
Cain didn't want to let go of the crystal in fear that the colors would disappear, but he knew that he couldn't hold it forever. After several moments passed and everyone in the crowd had come to look at the beautiful orb, Cain finally let go.
Strangely, the energy within didn't immediately dissipate. Instead, it continued to swirl and create a shimmering blend of colors.
The swirling colors stayed for a few moments before they faded, and the orb returned to its previous cloudy self.
Elder Biang watched in awe. He gave the boy a deep look before handing him a jade slip as well. "I don't know if my sect can even train someone like you. But if you are in the second circle, I would like to meet you again."
Cain took the slip carefully and nodded his head. "T-thank you, Senior. I will definitely stop by."
Elder Biang nodded before floating the orb in front of the next person. It was the same blonde-haired girl that appeared with Cain.
The girl gave Cain a long look before sighing and placing her hand on the orb; she too had been mesmerized by the color show and wished to see it again.
When her hand hit the orb, it was like the world could hear her wish. The vacant lights that had only just left burst back into the sphere with a flash. The girl yelped as the lights startled her, and she removed her hands from the orb. But, almost like they were after her hand, the lights shot out of the sphere and into her hand. Her hand began to glow with a rainbow of color before returning to her normal skin.
When the light flowed into her skin, she could feel her body begin to heat up. She became so hot that she wanted to scream in pain. But, just as quickly as the pain came, it vanished, and a cool sensation spread throughout her body. The feeling was so comfortable and relaxing she couldn't stop a slight moan from escaping her lips.
Then, just like nothing ever happened, her body returned to the way it was previously. Only now, she could feel a strange energy flowing within her, filling her with confidence, with power.
The girl was startled by the event, but after taking a breath, she once more reached her hand out and touched the orb. This time, the colors didn't return, and the milky white began to spin until a blue color began to show within.
Seeing this, Elder Biang sighed. "I should have brought more talismans with me." He then walked up to the girl and apologized. "I'm sorry, but I didn't bring enough talismans. We also aren't allowed to give extra help, or I would give you something."
The girl shrugged. "It's fine, Pops. I didn't expect anything anyway."
Jaime gave a boisterous laugh when he heard the girl. "Here, take mine. I doubt this old man would forget the handsome face of his future grandson." Jaime then tossed the jade talisman to the girl, who swiftly caught it.
"Thanks."
"I am only doing my duty as a hopeless romantic."
The girl snorted before turning back to Elder Biang. "It seems like I will see in the future, Pops. Make sure you stay alive till then, okay?"
Elder Biang almost coughed blood, listening to these two troublemakers. 'Pops your head! Who would kill this spry middle-aged man?'
The tests continued without any more huge disturbances, but the results were still above anything Elder Biang could've expected.
In the end, no one got below yellow, and there were almost fifteen greens within the fifty people.
Elder Biang couldn't help but shiver thinking about this group's future impact on the world. "A change is coming. Whether good or bad, I couldn't possibly know."
