Chapter 7 - Starting Trouble in the New World

Reality seemed to warp around Jenna as she stepped into the portal. The color drained from the world as she felt a force pulling her body and consciousness. It was a very strange feeling, however, it only lasted a moment before, suddenly, Jenna stood in a new environment.

Jenna looked around in a daze, trying to figure out where she was. She saw a mirror on a wall, a closed door, a towel hanging on the door, a toilet, a bath with bubbles, and… someone in it.

Soaking in the bath was a girl seemingly in her late teens. She was now staring at Jenna, who had just appeared in the middle of the bathroom. "What the f-"

Before the girl was able to finish her words, a rift, seemingly made of wind, tore open the space above her, dumping out a certain brown-haired boy.

Jaime fell, landing right on top of the woman and pushing her under the bubbles with himself–interrupting whatever she was going to say.

One after another, more wind tears opened, and out popped more people.

Jaime's head burst out from under the bubbles, water falling from his soaked hair. Reaching down, he pulled the young woman from under the bubbles as well.

Jaime's clothes were soaked, and he had brushed his hair back out of his face. Even in this situation, he looked like a handsome prince–even though he was more of a dashing rogue.

The young woman immediately began coughing as she was freed from under the water. Jaime patted her back, chuckling. "Sorry about that~ We are new to interdimensional travel."

Jaime jumped out of the bath before the girl could open her eyes. Looking at the others in the room, he grinned. "Run."

With those words as a catalyst, the whole group scampered out of the room like a gang of bandits.

Jaime was laughing like crazy as they dashed out. "What a perfect introduction to this beautiful world!"

Timothee also laughed like a little maniac as he ran. "You are so lucky! If only I could switch places with you."

Aisha knocked Timothee on the head, running beside him. "Quit it, you two."

Cain was unfocused on the conversation. As he ran, Cain was soaking in everything he saw, everything he felt–the largest grin stretching across his face.

Jenna was in the lead, navigating for the others.

Fleeing from the bathroom, they quickly ran through the small room connected to it. None of them paid the place much attention as they ran out the door and into the hall. Jenna led all of them down the hall and to a staircase.

Jenna immediately dashed down the staircase with Aisha following suit, but Timothee thought it would be fun to coast down the railing.

He jumped onto the railing but miscalculated the force behind his jump. For some reason, he jumped a little higher than normal.

Timothee fumbled backward over the railing, falling through the air. The drop wasn't massive, but it was at least a good ten feet down–he did fall off the top.

"Eh?" Timothee let out a small squeak as he felt his body being pulled by gravity, the safety of his railing growing further away. 'So this is how I die, huh?' Timothee closed his eyes in regret. 'What a shame.'

Aisha turned just in time to see Timothee go over the railing. For some reason, she felt responsible for the young boy and seeing him fall over the railing put her heart into her throat. But, she was just too far away to catch him.

Aisha could only watch in horror as Timothee fell–until Jaime did something that no one expected.

In a feat of athletics that no one saw coming, Jaime jumped up and kicked his foot off the wall, propelling himself over the railing. He grinned at the boy who was now falling with his eyes closed and his arms spread out, like he was accepting death.

Jaime grabbed the collar of Timothee's shirt, pulling him into his embrace, before spinning in the air and landing on his feet. Jaime stood, dropping Timothee and laughing. "That was almost super stylish, kid."

The others were frozen by what they witnessed. It wasn't a serious circumstance, and at most, Timothee probably would have been in pain. But, Jaime's crazy display had shocked them.

Seeing all of them staring at him, Jaime laughed. "What are you all staring at? We gotta go!" He turned around, dashing toward the door of the establishment.

Snapping out of their daze, everyone remembered why Timothee had fallen in the first place. 'We gotta go!' rang in their heads as they took off, running after Jaime.

There were several patrons in what seemed to be a small dining area–almost like a medieval tavern. There were multiple wooden tables set up and a bar with stools.

The woman behind the bar had a strange expression on her face, watching these five strange-looking people dashing for the door.

Jaime caught the eye of the bartender as she looked at him. She was a younger woman, seemingly in her late twenties. She was pretty with her braided brown hair cascading down her shoulder.

Jaime grinned. "Pitstop!"

Jaime altered his course, arriving before the bartender. He leaned cooly on the bar. "Just when I thought this world couldn't get any more beautiful, you show up and prove me wrong."

The woman inspected Jaime with a raised brow. The boy was soaked head to toe and wearing strange clothes. However, he was extremely handsome, and the water made his clothes cling to his body, showing off the muscles underneath. His voice was smooth, and his words were kind of funny. The bartender couldn't decide whether she should laugh or blush.

However, she didn't get to think for long as a black-haired girl grabbed the boy in a headlock. "We're leaving, you idiot."

Aisha dragged a laughing Jaime out the door. "Don't worry! I'll be back for your name!"

Just like that, the strange group fled out the door, and the bar became strangely silent. The people in the bar were stunned, still registering what just happened.

Suddenly, another young woman sprinted down the stairs. The woman's hair was soaking hair lay in strands over her face. Her grey robes were wet from the body beneath. "Where are they?" She asked the bartender from atop the staircase.

The bartender didn't dare to delay, pointing to the doorway where the troublemakers had just fled.

The girl nodded, jumping over the railing and landing without a sound. She then dashed, faster than people should be able to, straight out the door.

The bartender said a small prayer for the group's safety in her heart, watching the girl disappear out the door. "I guess you won't be back for my name." She mumbled under her breath.

Jaime sneezed as they ran. 'Ah. She must be thinking about me.' He grinned, not knowing just how serious the danger truly was.
