Chapter 1 - First

Adonnis Cabrerro, a cutthroat bachelor CEO, an had multimillionaire career driven character, took a firm stand in life and chose to live alone without a family. He had the perfect life; he was wealthy, famous, and powerful, but most importantly, he lacked a family to call his own. He has been living alone for many years and is now 50 years old. Even though he was a contender for old age, his life goal and priority have always been achievement in the commercial world. One of the reasons for this is that he has great expectations for his bride. One of the biggest reasons Adonnis has remained unmarried at the age of 50 is his high standards. He is humiliated and angered when he reads the tabloid headline, "A single bachelor at 50." Even if he isn't aware that everyone is watching him, he knows that they are.

Although he is single, he maintains a social life. He was also dating a wealthy woman whom he met in a bar and who ended up naked on the bed with him. That's the kind of woman who doesn't take man seriously and thinks everything is a game. He went to the pub every night with a bunch of gregarious beauty. When one of his flings became pregnant with another person and came to him stating that the child she bared was his child, he stopped dating and seeing socialites. He's no longer dating or seeing socialites. It's terrible to think that in a few days, someone will come back and tell him that he's the father of their child.

Since then, his daily routine has consisted of going home and going to work. And he's bored out of his mind, which is why he's ready to go around the world because he's tired of being stuck in one place If his fury was directed at his secretary, she will leave and never return, and he will only get his resignation the next day. His secretaries lasted less than a month, especially after he reprimanded them for not always doing their jobs efficiently.

He's yelling at her right now because the paperwork she's working on isn't done yet. As a result, his secretary disappeared and never said goodbye, and based on her expression, he was certain she would resign.

I'd never worked with a secretary who was so certain that even if I scolded her a few times, she wouldn't resign.

He was sitting in my swivel chair when Agathon entered.

"What brought you here?" In a serious tone, I questioned, Agathon. He said honestly,

"Nothing, I'II I just came by to visit you."

"Are you sure?" I asked in a skeptic's tone.

Agathon occasionally mispronounced it and abruptly announced that he had authorized someone to keep an eye on me because I don't always call to stay up with what's going on.

"What good does it to hire some random stranger to keep an eye on my antics in life if they can't even do their job well?" I scowled.

Agathon was the one who did it, he knows. Agathon's face flushed since I caught him off guard.

"Oh no! Come on, Adonnis, you're speaking gibberish," he said half-smirking.

"Really?

"And now you've got amnesia as if you're innocent," I grin at him.

"All right, that's enough for now. Please have a seat," I said, and Agathon sat down.

"How are you doing? You haven't come here in a few days, is your business expanding?"

I was concerned about Agathon's whereabouts. He can be annoying at times but I was worried as hell if he hadn't show himself in my office, we're like brothers even we're not related, but he actually cares about me.

"No, man, we had family day. The kids wanted to go to the city, and as a father, I had to accompany them because they missed eating ice cream. And we also went to a carnival. Promise, man, the kids these days never get tired, and they won't go home unless we first take a stroll around the city," he added.

Agathon smiled and his eyes twinkled as we discussed his family. Agathon used to be someone I admired for being a family man.

He has a small family, which he considers to be a blessing.

"How do you feel about it? Have you been here all day? What is the aim of this? Are you going to terminate your workers? You're dragging them into your misery, Dude, Remember, they have a family to care for."

"They didn't do anything wrong to you; the issue is that you didn't give them a chance to make amends," Agathon explains.

"Don't tell me you were afraid of what would happen if the last situation happened again. Let it go, but don't mess with the wrong person again. And one thing, you'll just lower your standards, won't you? You should have to go out and find a simple woman to marry."

"Don't wait for an opportunity to knock on your door; there won't be any. It doesn't matter how old you are; as long as you're handsome and delicious, they must have been after you." Then he wink at me.

"You haven't been here in weeks and are now chatting excessively, but I'm fine, alive and well. Your suggestion must be tempting, but it causes me a lot of problems." I said.

"I'll have to go, my time is running. Sorry if I won't be able to accompany you right now, but something came up.We can hang out another time, or you come visit us at the house because the kids miss you."

These bastards want to rip my head off with his comments and then leave.

"Is everything in order?" I asked him.

"Yes, there's nothing to be concerned about," he remarked as he walked away, saying, "Bye."

Adonnis was relieved that his most troublesome closest friend was no longer at his workplace.

After Agathon left, I remembered I hadn't eaten while sitting alone in the office, so I went outside for a while to locate something to eat. I got to the bottom of the structure and started looking for a local eatery. I was about to walk in when my hand was suddenly grabbed. I turned to face whoever was holding me, and saw a woman with a familiar grin.

I used to have an affair with a woman who got pregnant and promised me the child. It was going to ruin his life in the following days, he knew it.

"Is that you, Adonnis?" The woman asked. He disregarded it and went inside, saying,

"I'm so hungry to entertain her." I placed my order and looked for a seat that was available.

The woman caressed my back as I was eating.

"Do you mind if I take a seat here, Adonnis?"

"Look, Miss," I suggested,

"I don't want anyone bothering me when I'm eating." The woman ignored me and moved a chair up next to me.

So find a seat, there are plenty," I suggested. The woman ignored me and moved a chair up next to me.

The woman grumbles, "You're too hard on me, Adonnis, as if you don't know who I am." She mumbled irritably,

"Miss, I'd like to eat quietly, so if you want to join me here, close your mouth and eat in silence."

The woman pouted, "I have a name, Adonnis. Don't call me that."

This woman wants to talk about the two of us as if we were dating at the time. I'm scared that entertaining her will wreck my life; and just like previously, she continues to claim that I'm the father of her child, despite the fact that this has never been the case.

In the company of this woman, I felt suffocated, so I stood up and walked away. When I heard her call my name, I was frightened. When I realized I hadn't paid for my meals, I was mortified. It's a good thing the proprietor recognizes me. Maybe I dialed his number because of the minor commotion I've produced. That woman was a thorn in my side. I didn't expect it to materialize out of nowhere. At my place of business.
