Casey had been surprised by Vera's request to stay with her but he supposed she didn't want to be alone when she was scared and had no one else to ask. Someone as friendly as her not having any other friends was surprising to hear but he supposed it was a matter of her being too busy for such things rather than being incapable of having relationships like him.
He didn't mind sitting around reading in her apartment once he got over how weird it was that he was even in someone else's apartment twice in one day. Had he ever been to anyone else's house before? He wasn't sure.
The peanut butter bars were nice too. He was sure to hide the ones he took home so Kane wouldn't find them and question where he got them.
He was being overprotective and overly involved again. Casey didn't have a social life for a lot of reasons but Kane was definitely one of them. He couldn't blame him too much for it though considering the way things usually went.
Kane watched out for him. Always had.
