Chapter 21 - Falling for the Fallen (Part 3)

"Please don't find me..." she whispered as she crouched in the corner of a cleaning supply room. She glanced out the tiny slit of window to see if he had followed her onto the floor.

Exhaling in relief she slid backwards towards the wall and rubbed her palm on her forehead.

'What have I gotten myself into'

Sighing, she shut her eyes tightly and rubbed her forehead before inhaling a large breath. If she screwed up now there was no way she was going to get the chance to escape again. Despite the thumping in her chest she still forced herself to think of how to escape from the building.

Opening her eyes, she looked through the window to see if he was there. The hallway was clear, she would wait for a few more minutes before moving incase he was still there.

Sighing she clicked the handle, slowly pushing the door open careful not to make a noise. Peaking through the gap she scanned the area before tiptoeing out feeling the cold marble against her bare feet. Quickly she scampered to another set of stairs at the other end of the hallway.

Shaking in fear, she pushed the door open and scowered the stairs up and down to find they were clear. Running down the rest of the stairs to the bottom floor she felt her chest start to sting. Shrugging it off she ran through the back door on the bottom floor to enter an alley.

Looking around at the dark street she struggled to make out what way would lead her to a main road. Her eyes welling up she gulped and wiped off the residue building up pm on her forehead before picking a direction at random.

Sprinting down the rough path she skipped over sharp fragments of glass trying to make her way to the end.

'How much longer do I have to run? How long can an alley really be?'

Panting she paused and looked down at the ground. A small puddle began to ripple as a sickly warmth ran down her cheeks.

"*hic* can't... Cry. Can't..." she huffed in determination before sprinting again. After another ten minutes of running she paused again and inhaled deeply, her head was throbbing and her legs were burning with tiredness.

Pushing onwards she felt her line of veiw falling to the floor as she lost balance and hit the ground. Flinching at expected pain she scrambled on the floor. Furrowing her brows she looked at her scraped knees pushing her nails into the cuts that oozed blood.

"Huh?" nothing... She felt nothing.

"Why are you so defiant? You could just live here with me forever yet you decide to run... To where would you, a corrupted angel, run to?" Sighing he picked up her sleeping body from the storage room.

Walking to the elevator he looked down at her scrunched up face and smiled, he didn't think he'd have to trap her in an illusion so quickly. If only she would have just stayed put he wouldn't have resorted to trapping her in a world he created where the only way she can escape is through his allowance.

Taking her to his room he smiled sinisterly and grabbed a pair of chains he had hidden away and locked them around her wrists and ankles. Tying her to the bed he exhaled in relief somehow it soothed his worries knowing she wouldn't escape, but the was still the fear she might physically be with him but mentally she would never be his.

"... Never change" he murmured as he ran his hand through his hair and sighed. Sitting down beside her he stroked her cheek wiping away the cluster of sweat that built up. Assuming it was probably from her realising she was trapped and had no escape.

Noticing her hands clenching the sheets he furrowed his brow and tapped her forehead. Suddenly launching forward she inhaled a sharp breath before attempting to pounce at him ferociously. Failing as her arm couldn't move any further towards him she screamed helplessly.

"Sorry."

He got up and walked towards the door not looking back as he shut it on her restless face. Listening through the door he could hear her continue to scream for what felt like forever before the room became completely silent to the point he could hear the clicks of the clock in the furthest room from him.

"! " opening the door he realised she'd passed out and was curled up within herself tears staining her reddened cheeks.

"...*hic* I... Hate you..." she whimpered in her sleep. Gritting his teeth at her confirmation of what he already knew he stormed towards the bed. Shaking he looked down at her weakened image and gulped.

"I know... But I still - tch!" he stepped backwards and tried to bury the overwhelming emotions that were being stirred up by her.

Running his hand through his hair he kneeled at the side of the bed and lay his head next to her hand. Looking at her dainty fingers and tracing his eyes along the small creases in her palms he smiled.

"... you, I like you" he breathed as he rolled over and sat on the floor with his back against the side of the bed, "so I won't give up."

Listening to him she bit her lip and continued to keep her eyes tightly shut. Why would he tell her this, did he know she was awake and was trying to convince her?!

" Ha! I'm a fool talking to the walls..." he got up and she listened patiently to his distancing steps.

Opening her eyes she exhaled the breath she had been holding and struggled to wipe the burning residue that lied on the puffy and swollen skin under her eyes.

"Don't come back, you won't convince me." she whispered amongst the raindrops pattering on the glass windows. It was already dark and the droplets of water rolling down the window were illuminated by the city's neon glow.

Softly her chest rose and fell as a sharp pain buzzed in her head, gripping her head she swallowed the urge to scream for help. Tears poured from her eyes and the pulsating noise drowning out the background grew louder.

"... Really... H-hurts-" she muffled into the cushion as her hands clenched the sheets between her fingers. Refusing to scream as it would alert him she struggled in the pain until the light from the window became stained with darkness and eventually she couldn't see or hear anymore.

Images flickered through her mind of a mountain and two humans- no! angels! They stood with each other below a willow tree holding hands as the sky was growing darker.

As the image became clearer she saw that one of the angels was coughing up blood as the other clutched onto their arm to hold them up. Staring at their faces she choked as she noticed their familiarity...

"Demon? "
