Chapter 5 - Auctioned Angel (Part 4)

Opening her hand, she revealed the golden key that was the answer to all her prayers. Standing up, she hooked her wiery arms through the gap in the bars as she guided the key over to the lock.

'Yesss!! Success'

Opening the cage door, she ran over to where the balcony was barred up. She didn't know how to escape but she knew it had to be through here which meant she had to break the slats of wood acting as a barrier.

Luckily there was a lot of furniture at her supply-

'shit someone is coming in!'

Darting towards the cage, she quickly locked the door behind her as a small woman in a maids outfit came inside. Tapping over to the cage she dropped a tray of food in front of Angel's bars.

Looking up at her face, Angel could tell there was disdain aimed towards her but it was his under a facade of being emotionless.

"His highness says he hopes you enjoy your meal and to remind you that you need to eat more to get healthy." Her monotonous voice stopped at the slam of the door behind her and the click of a lock as she followed her masters orders.

Listening to the footsteps disappear, she stood back up and unlocked the cage looking down at the food delivered. It smelt irresistible and was at war with herself over whether to eat it or not since it had been days without a meal.

'Oh well what's the harm in eating I can only get more energy from it which is something I'll need to get out of this place.'

Scoffing down the food, she rubbed her stomach in satisfaction. Licking the remains of her lips as she lay back in comfort.

' - wait now is not the time to chill I need to break down that barrier and get out of here. '

Getting up, she looked around the room to see if there was anything that would cut through the wood. Bingo. A sword was carelessly hung above the fireplace which she swiftly grabbed and launched towards the wooden slats.

' your arrogance will be your downfall Prince...'

Smashing it open on the twelfth strike, she climbed through the hole she had made, scrambling up to the balcony railing as she stretched her wings.

"ahhh" she sighed, pushing her arms out into the air as she looked into the sky to find heaven.

Her brows furrowed as she struggled to find her home. Lowering her head, she gave up as she scowered to garden to see if that nuisance was lurking around. Luckily for her he was cooped up in his office trying to catch up with his delayed work.

Spreading her wings out, she flew into the sky soaring upwards as she searched harder to find the dimension rift between the sky and clouds. As she flew higher, the Palace she was locked in became smaller and smaller until it was almost non existant.

'Huh where am I now?'

Looking around, she was surrounded by white clouds as far as the eye could see and she finally felt at piece however she couldn't remain there forever.

Tired, she glided back down bringing the Palace back into perspective as her wings grew weaker and weaker.

'I'm going to have to find a spot to hide'

Searching around, she saw an empty field with a single run down cottage on the edge of it. Accepting that it would be the best place for her to stay, she flew off in its direction. Landing near it, she scowered the area for noises. Finding none.

"phew" alleviated by the lack of stress, she moved forward towards the cottage looking at the tattered exterior. It only made it more surprising to find the interior designed with elegant furniture and clean rugs. It was too clean.

Panicking she went to run out the house to find over a hundred soldiers waiting for her. Freaking out, she spread her wings not noticing there was someone behind her. Feeling her leg being tugged back town she screamed in a high pitch tone that laced everyones ears with terror.

Dropping to the floor, they all began wailing for help and clawing at the ground whilst begging for mercy. Dread filled Angels heart as she realised what she had done, it was against the rules for angels to kill humans which is why it was banned for one to scream in their presence.

'If I kill all these humans I'll be punished maybe even made to be a fallen. I can't.'

Sweating, the only thing she could do was pray for them not to die as tears poured out of her eyes and her heart stung in pain. Suddenly, light began to appear around her as she begged god for forgiveness and pleaded it wasn't done with malice.

Slowly the cries of the soldiers died down and angel passed out as the light brightened around her.

"Child you have made a very serious mistake, we are here to protect the humans not harm them. They are foolish beings but we must never try to kill them." a loud voice boomed in her head.

"But they wanted to drag me back to that man who wants me to remove my wings, I don't want to be down on earth take me back to heaven," she cried as her pleads reached deaf ears.

"Child you will only be called back to heaven when you are forgiven by the ruler of these lands for harming his men" God ordered.

"But he's the one who wants me to suffer how and why would I get his forgiveness?" she challenged, trying to make God reconsider his punishment.

"Its either that or you will become a fallen, you choose?" God finished as the light around her vanished and the sound of something smashing woke her up.
