"I'm sorry I'm late, but I promise I'll make it up to you," Leviathan said, coming in and holding a paper bag that smelled of food. "I brought dinner. Did you eat?"
"You're an asshole," I rolled my eyes, seeing that he hadn't forgotten the joke from this morning. "I already ate."
"Damn, and here I was trying to be romantic," He kept going, setting the food on the table. "So much for having a good time tonight."
"Okay, now you're taking that too far," I scoffed, closing the book I was reading but not moving from the couch. "So, you're incredibly late. How bad did it go?"
"How do you know it went badly?" Leviathan tried being coy, but I had no doubt things didn't go to plan. Not only because they always did that but also because of the exhaustion written on his face. "You assume the worst."
"Because that's my luck," I still didn't try getting up. I was tired, and the walk back through the market was unsettling.
