I had to force myself to focus.
The bond kept pulling at me, demanding I reach out to Ivan. I tried several times, but his end was still shut. It was frustrating because I couldn't shake the feeling that he needed my help but wouldn't open the connection. He could feel me but was actively trying to push me back. Whatever was going on with him, he didn't want me involved, and it had me on edge. Still, I pushed as much energy as I could for him, which didn't help my mind stay clear.
Yet, I had to hear Aurora's account to find the missing key.
"I… I remember everything," she muttered, curled beside me with her head on the cushion. She looked far off, her lips dry and cracked. What had they done to her? "I know no one else does, but Jessica and me… we remembered."
"How?" I knew Jessica did, and it had something to do with the Arcana witch Deiderick, but did Aurora know how it happened?
