"Don't look so sad," Luke puts his bags down, taking a seat across from me. "You'll make Ivan jealous."
Ivan chuckles at that, and I try for a smile, but it's hard.
Luke was leaving today with his men. He couldn't justify staying up here with us anymore, and his pack needed him to come home. I knew that, but I couldn't help feeling sad.
"It would be selfish to ask you to stay longer?" I ask quietly, already knowing the answer.
"If I could, I would," Luke admits, taking my hand across the table. "Hell, the goddess knows if I had the power, I'd move our territories so I could hang out with you guys every day and still take care of my pack."
I laughed this time; it was funny, but Luke meant it. It was crazy that I would miss him, but he'd quickly become my friend, and the idea that he was living so far away hurt.
