Vania ruffled her hair in frustration. She sat in her office chair. She was staring at Rosa's assignment letter.
"Rosa, how long is she going to torture me like this?" Vania hissed sadly.
Vania has avoided Dio. She had even blocked Dio's number so that Dio would no longer call her. Unfortunately, Rosa never listens to Vania's words.
"It's true that listening is more difficult than talking," Vania lowered her head in resignation.
The only thing Vania could do right now was contact Hayam. She had to apologize to Hayam because she couldn't keep her promise.
Vania took out her cell phone. She sent a message to Hayam. "Honey, sorry, huh? I got an urgent reportation assignment. I have to work. No one is willing to replace me."
After sending the message, Vania put her cellphone back in her bag. She immediately opened her laptop and made a list of questions to print out.
"Ugh, hungry," Vania hissed. She rubbed her rumbling stomach.
Vania's eyes glanced at the clock on the wall in her office. It's almost 7pm now. Police patrol time starts at around 9 pm tonight.
"There are still two hours left," said Vania. "I'll just buy food in front of me."
Vania decided to put her bag in the office. She stepped downstairs and went across to the street in front of the office.
There is a fried rice seller there. Vania sat down and ordered food. When the food is ready to eat, Vania's cell phone rings. She checks and there is a call from Hayam.
"Hello," said Vania. She answered the video call from the man.
"Vania, I didn't read your message," said Hayam. "Now I'm at your house and I just found out that you are still working."
"Sorry, I can't keep my promise," replied Vania sadly. "My boss told me to cover. I can't refuse it. You know that journalists have to be able to work 24 hours non-stop."
"You are a woman. Are there no exceptions?" said Hayam. "In fact, I've asked your company for you to just do reportation about my activities."
Vania gave him a small smile. "It's not that simple, honey," said Vania. She tried to calm the man's heart. "I work professionally in the company. I have to follow my superior's orders. Plus, a job as a journalist is like this. Didn't I tell you from the start? You said you didn't mind, right?"
"At first I thought I wouldn't mind," said Hayam with a tired sigh. "But, it turned out to be not that easy."
"That's right," Vania was only able to confirm Hayam's words. She didn't want too many excuses. She was always honest from the start when she was in a relationship with someone.
Vania has a principle that lies in a relationship will bring destruction. Because of that, she always emphasizes the people who love her about herself as a whole. If that person is unable to accept it, she will withdraw. If the person is willing to accept it, she will be happy to be in a relationship with all her heart.
"So how?" asked Vania after a long silence had passed between them. "You still want to be with me? Now our relationship is still at the starting point. I don't mind if you want to break up with me."
"Where are you doing reportation?" replied Hayam. He didn't care what Vania said.
"I'm in front of my office," said Vania nervously.
"When is the reportation? What's the time? Where?" Hayam threw a lot of questions at Vania.
"I started reportation at nine o'clock. I'm having dinner so I don't have an ulcer," explained Vania. "There is a police patrol. I'll be on the patrol."
"Okay, I will join the police patrol," said Hayam.
"What? Do you want to go on patrol?" Vania was surprised by Hayam's words. "You don't have to join my activities."
"I think I should come along," said Hayam. He is firm in his opinion. "I will join the police patrol. I can accompany you to work at night. I will get a positive image as a candidate for regent for the regional head election later. One paddle, two or three islands crossed, Vania."
"Gosh, you really are greedy!" said Vania. She put on a grumbling face for a moment. Then, a sweet smile appeared on her face.
"Vania, I really want to date you today. You can consider this an office date," said Hayam half jokingly. He did it so that Vania smiled even wider.
"You are really good at making excuses," said Vania.
"You like it, right?"
"Yes, I really like it," replied Vania.
"Now tell me your assignment letter. Later I will go to your location for coverage," said Hayam. "See you, My Love!"
"See you," Vania gave Hayam a sweet kiss. She hung up the video call.
Vania's heart is filled with flowers of happiness. She didn't expect Hayam to have such a crazy idea. However, Vania likes everything about Hayam.
"You crazy old man," Vania squeaked with a face full of happiness. She started to enjoy her fried rice.
At around 8 pm, Vania prepared to go to the location where the police patrol started. She drove the car towards that location.
Vania is grateful because she gets facilities in the form of a car. At least cars are safer than motorbikes because the Klitih gang uses motorbikes to slash their victims at night.
Due to the viral news of the Klitih gang on social media, the government imposed a curfew. The streets are getting quiet and people are choosing to pass through the busy street areas.
Vania chose to go through a quiet street. She intended to speed up and look for strange phenomena. Who knows, she might run into the Klitih gang by accident.
Vania's gaze was looking straight ahead. After passing an intersection around the South Ringroad area, Vania saw a motorcycle rider.
Vania narrowed her eyes more sharply. She felt familiar with the motorcyclist.
"Dio!" Vania hissed. She realized that the motorcyclist was Dio. "Why does he use a motorbike at this time of night? Danger!" Vania decided to follow Dio from behind. She wanted to see Dio safely to a more crowded and safer street area.
At that moment, Vania saw a group of three motorbikes driving at full speed. The mob brought machetes and approached Dio's motorbike from behind.
Vania's heart was beating fast. She increased her speed and pressed the motorcycle bell quickly.
Vania's mind was frantic. She just wanted to save Dio. The fastest way was that she had to hit a mob of motorbike drivers who she thought were the Klitih gang.
Vania has made up her mind. At least the gang of motorcyclists would only have scuffs from hitting the pavement.
Vania's car speed doubled. She bumped into the Klitih gang so that their motorbike fell strewn around the road.
It was bad luck that the Klitih gang's motorbike hit Dio's motorbike. Inevitably, Dio was also affected by the series of motorcycle accidents.
Vania braked her car on the side of the road. Her heart was still thumping loudly because she had just done the crazy thing in her life.
Vania immediately opened her cellphone. She called the police to immediately come to the location where she is currently.
BRAK!
Vania was shocked in the middle of her phone. She looked ahead. Looks like someone hit the windshield of her car.
The pounding sounded again and it got louder. Vania's body trembled violently. She's in a pinch right now.
"Hello? What is it? You're all right, right?" asked the policeman who was called by Vania.
"No. I'm not fine," replied Vania. "The mob of motorbikes was beating my car. Come here quickly!"
Vania immediately sent her whereabouts to the police. She let the thumping sound continue.
Everything was scary for Vania. She did not expect that there were still two members of the motorcycle gang who were not injured.
"GET OUT!" they shouted.
This time they hit the windshield and side of Vania's car. Anxiety is increasingly covering Vania's entire body. Vania hopes that a miracle will come.
Unfortunately, the magic did not appear. Vania's car window was broken.
Vania could see one of the bad guys pointed a machete right at Vania's face. Vania's breath seemed to have stopped for a moment. She was facing death right now. At any time her life can fly easily.
"GET OUT, BITCH!" the two motorists ordered.
Vania nodded her head. She took the penknife out of her bag and stowed it in the pocket of her jeans. After that, she was forced to follow their words to keep her life alive.
The two armed men immediately grabbed Vania roughly when the car door opened. One of them went to get a motorbike.
Vania just watched it. She waited for the time to move to buy time.
"VANIA!"
An unexpected scream was heard. Vania and the man who was threatening her turned to the source of the voice. Dio seemed to limp towards them.
"HEI! LEAVE, HER!" shouted Dio fiercely. HER gaze stared intently at the man who was holding Vania at this time.
