"What do your Daddy want to order?" asked the satay seller.
"Daddy?" Vania looked confused at the satay seller.
The salesman pointed at Hayam. Now Vania understands that Hayam is meant to be Vania's daddy.
"Ah, we ordered four servings of satay and our drinks of young coconut ice too," explained Hayam. He preceded Vania to answer the satay seller's question.
"Well. We will prepare it as soon as possible," said the satay seller after taking down the order. He immediately left in front of Vania and Hayam. Vania glanced sullenly at Hayam.
"Why do you just accept what the satay seller said?" she asked. She was a little annoyed that Hayam didn't seem to be trying to explain that they were a couple.
"You'll be angry later," said Hayam casually. "You don't like it when other people know about our relationship."
Vania stumbled in silence. She just remembered that she had always wanted to hide the relationship between them. However, Vania did all this is not because she wanted to. She did this because she didn't want Hayam to get a bad image. Moreover, Vania is a reporter.
"I will resign after this," said Vania. "You said that you would help me start a career again, right?"
Hayam nodded his head. "You can count on me. I can even pay the remaining installments of your house, "explained Hayam. The man shared a glass of young coconut ice with Vania.
"Good grief! My mortgage!" shrieked Vania. She patted her forehead. Because she was too stressed, Vania forgot that the main purpose of her work was to finish the mortgage. She immediately agreed with Hayam's words because she wanted to get an escape that could make her feel more comfortable.
"How? After this holiday is over, we can go to a housing developer and pay off the rest," explained Hayam.
Vania shook her head. "I don't want to trouble you," said Vania. "I still have about six months of savings remaining. After I resign, I will start my own online media business so I can pay off the rest."
"I don't think it's that easy, Vania," said Hayam. "You need to formulate who your target audience is and what kind of writing you will appear in your online media. You can count on me while drafting your online media."
"You're very kind," Vania hugged Hayam's hand. She rested her head on the man's arm spoilingly. Not long after, their order of satay arrived. Hayam immediately distributed a plate of rice to Vania.
"You should eat a lot. You need energy for our evening," said Hayam. He fed Vania.
"Duh, you just make me flutter," said Vania.
Hayam's laughter was heard. Vania gave her sweet smile to the old man. After eating, they relax in a hut on the edge of a rice field. There, they saw farmers harvesting yellowed rice.
"I think the morning walk here will be good," said Vania.
"There is a waterfall if we pass through the rice fields," Hayam pointed towards an alley near the rice fields.
"Is that true?" Vania narrowed her eyes. "Right," replied Hayam. "It's a good location but really crowded. The tourists who stay in the villas around here really like to go there to swim all day. There is a flat land near the waterfall and visitors can make grilled fish there."
"Wow, I can't stand it if I'm told to make grilled fish," said Vania. She can cook but she doesn't want to cook in the traditional way.
"I can do it for you," said Hayam. "I used to participate in camp activities since I was young. I like climbing mountains too."
"But, you are too old for doing that thing," said Vania. She reminded Hayam not to do anything troublesome. "How about we just bring lunch from the villa? After swimming, we can change into dry clothes and eat lunch. In the afternoon, we return to the villa."
"Good idea," Hayam agreed.
They continued to chat casually. Hayam told a little about his children and ex-wife. "My wife has remarried. I heard he has a son who is seven years old now," said Hayam. "I have two children. Male and female. They continue their education abroad and we still often meet at the end of the year."
"Your relationship with your ex-wife has improved, right?" said Vania. "Or, you two actually still have a grudge against each other."
"Our marriage was a disaster because we never really loved each other," said Hayam. "Maybe we once loved each other because there were two children between us and we loved them very much. Since the kids have grown up and gone to college, I don't think there's anything to argue about. Moreover, my ex-wife is married to the man of her dreams and has a child."
Vania could see there was a trace of sadness on Hayam's face. Even though Hayam admits he doesn't love his ex-wife, the man looks regretful because his marriage ended in a sad way.
Vania's hand moved to hug Hayam. She rested her head on the man's arm.
"You must always have trouble," said Vania.
"Yeah, I'm getting more and more difficult because you disappeared from my life," said Hayam honestly. "You are like an oasis in my troubled life, Vania. When you disappeared, I tried to be stronger and finally decided to end my marriage to my ex-wife."
"I will be a good wife for you," said Vania. "I promise that I won't cheat. I will also give you a pair of cute and adorable boys and girls."
Hayam reviewed his sweet smile for Vania. "You're not in a hurry to meet my children, are you?" asked Hayam.
"They must be busy and I think we can still see them after we get married. The important thing is that you tell them that we are getting married."
Hayam head nodded. "I'll tell them as soon as possible," said Hayam. "They'll definitely be happy."
"Is that true?" Vania teased. She wasn't sure if Hayam just wanted to calm her heart by saying that.
"Yes. I didn't lie to you," said Hayam. "They really wanted me to remarry so someone would take care of me."
"They are your children. Don't they want to take care of you?" Vania pouted. She doesn't like the opinion of Hayam's children.
"They are in the career pursuit phase. They have the right to focus on their career life," said Hayam.
Vania took a deep breath. She understood the reason why Hayam always asked her to marry him even though she had repeatedly refused. That man must be very lonely at home.
"Okay, I'll take care of you," said Vania. "But you can't put on a sad face anymore, okay?"
Hayam nodded and smiled gently at Vania. He was relieved that Vania could understand his condition.
Vania took out her cell phone. She invited Hayam to take pictures with the background of the rice fields. Hayam cupped Vania's chin and kissed her lips. The man enjoyed the moment of the afternoon walk with his lover.
