Liu Tang's shift ended and they just closed the cafe. While DongFeng was locking up, Liu Tang looked around the street to see where he could go to find his home in this world.
He was still adjusting to the bright lights of the vehicles and buildings since the cafe was dimly lit. In the streets, however, the lights from the cars and street lamps wre bright and for Liu Tang who wasn't used to such lights, it was blinding.
"You live by the Fourth Avenue," DongFeng informed. "In case you forgot it too."
"I did," Liu Tang confessed. "I don't even know how to get there."
DongFeng sighed. "You can come with me to the bus stop. Fourth Avenue is four blocks away from my apartment, so the bus will pass through your street.
"That would be wonderful," Liu Tang smiled, but did not get any in return. Instead, DongFeng finished locking the cafe and walked away. Liu Tang followed him until they arrived at the bus stop along with several more people.
These people looked tired, just like him and DongFeng were. The others who are on the bus stop were people who worked jobs that also required them to come home late and their state was bad.
Half of these people are sleeping while the others were barely awake. You could see the exhaustion in their eyes even when you only glanced for a few seconds.
"Slave to the capitalist society," DongFeng said. "What else can we do?"
Liu Tang did not understand anything that DongFeng said, so he just stood there. It was a couple of moments later when DongFeng gave Liu Tang the same glass tablet that everyone else was using.
"You forgot your phone," DongFeng said. "Make sure to not leave it anywhere."
"My… phone?" Liu Tang narrowed his eyes while inspecting the phone. He looked around it and saw a six-digit number on the side. It was too small to be seen with just anyone. "DongFeng, what does this–"
"Attention all passengers," a speaker rang from the bus stop and cut Liu Tang from continuing with his sentence. "The bus had encountered a problem. It will be delayed by two hours. Please be patient and wait until then."
A series of groans erupted from the passengers. Some of them woke up from their sleep while the others did not even bother. Liu Tang looked at DongFeng who sighed and walked away.
"Where are you going?" Liu Tang asked.
"Elsewhere," DongFeng replied. "I just need to get out of here and go home."
Liu Tang was afraid that he would get lose when he doesn't follow DongFeng, so he had no choice but to trail the man. They walked for a couple of minutes before DongFeng took a turn.
Liu Tang followed DongFeng until they reached a rather silent neighborhood. There were less cars and less street lights in this neighborhood and the sound that came from the city centre has slowly faded.
"This area looks sketchy," Liu Tang pointed out, but he was ignored. DongFeng continued to walk until they reached an adjacent street with a sign.
"Fourth Avenue," DongFeng pointed at the path to the right. "Go straight from here and walk up to the building that says Floral Lounge. That's your aparment complex."
"Thank you," Liu Tang said to DongFeng, but the man ignored him again. DongFeng walked away from him and into the dark streets, leaving Liu Tang in the corner of the Fourth Avenue.
"Floral Lounge," Liu Tang said to himself as he faced the street. "I think I can find this."
A couple of minuted had passed, yet there wa still no Floral Lounge in sight. Liu Tang had walked back to back on the street, from corner to corner yet he still wasn't able to find it.
"Where is this Floral Lounge?" Liu Tang groaned. He sat on the sidewalk that was right under a street lamp to rest. "This is impossible, I don't see any Floral Lounge or anything here."
"Liu Tang?" a soft female voice spoke. Liu Tang turned to see who it was and there she saw a beautiful young woman with the prettiest eyes he had ever seen in his life. "What are you still doing here?"
"I don't know where my home is," Liu Tang said softly. "I had an accident the other day and now my memories had vanished. I can't remember anything."
"Have you been to the doctor?" the woman asked to which Liu Tang answered by shaking his head. "You need to consult with your doctor, Liu Tang. Or else you'll get even worse."
"It's a good thing that I'm your neighbor then," the woman took Liu Tang's hand and pulled him up. "Let's go first, then you can come to your doctor. I'll lead you there."
The woman had a soft voice, gentle features, and a hand that was soft and warm. Liu Tang blushed when their skin touched, feeling a feeling inside of him boil.
They walked to the apartment where it doesn't say Floral Lounge anywhere. Liu Tang thinks that DongFeng was messing with him so he asked the girl for confirmation. "I heard that there was a sign that said Floral Lounge here. Was that not true?"
"The sign was taken down earlier," the woman said. "They said something happened to it, but I think the new landlord just did not like the sound of the name. Maybe for him, it sounds too girly."
Liu Tang did not comment on this. He felt the woman's hand let go of his, making him look up and stare in her eyes. "What's wrong, miss?"
"Quan Rui," the woman replied with a smile. "I live next door."
Liu Tang smiled gripped the door to his apartment, only for it to be locked from the inside. He didn't know how to use the key, so he settled on asking his neighbor, the woman who helped him earlier.
He knocked on the door, but it took a couple of minutes before Quan Rui answered. She was panting when she opened the door and the lights from her room was turned off.
Shaking these thoughts away, Liu Tang asked her for help. "Hello, miss," Liu Tang greeted. "I was wondering if you know how to open a locked door? I forgot about it."
The woman nodded and took he key card from Liu Tang. The door also asked for a security number. The woman turned around to wait for Liu Tang to give her the number.
"What?" Liu Tang asked. The woman placed both of her hands in her waist and pursed her lips. "It's okay to forget about quite a lot of things, but it's not good to forget about your door's security number, okay?"
Liu Tang took a moment to respond when he remembered the series of numbers on his phone. He took out his phone from his pocket and showed Quan Rui the code.
Ting. Ding.
The door was now unlocked as Quan Rui handed Liu Tang his key back. The man just stood there, smiling awkwardly while the woman sighed. She was about to walk back inside of her room when Liu Tang called her.
"Thank you, Quan Rui," Liu Tang said with a smile. "I couldn't have made it here without your help."
"No problem," Quan Rui retreated to her room but smiled at Liu Tang the moment she walked inside her door.
Her smile sent shivers to Liu Tang's spine. He felt something ominous that was coming from Quan Rui and he didn't feel good about it.
He stepped closer to Quan Rui's door where he saw that the door was opened slightly. He took a small peek and gasped when he saw Quan Rui's face was ripped off of her body.
A woman that was on her fours while she was facing her back at Lou Tang. It looked like she was doing something on the floor to which Liu Tang could not quite see.
When he got closer, he could only gasp when he found Quan Rui's body lying on the ground. The creature was feasting on her guts.
