Liu Tang was impressed after he brewed the French Press. He gained 5 Qi from killing the Gu, and now he burned 5 Qi from making coffee.
"Wow," Liu Tang grinned when he realized that he can now continue to work on this cafe while he learns the way of his new life. He was confident that making coffee while defeating evil spirits and monsters would make him strong quickly.
Ding Ding!
While Liu Tang was cleaning the equipment he was using, the bell rang which signals him that someone has entered the cafe. The man went to the counter and saw a young woman there, a beautiful brown haired woman with a plumb chest that showed off from her blouse.
"Good evening, ma'am," Liu Tang greeted, trying his best to mimic the words from DongFeng when he served the two women earlier. "Welcome to our cafe, what can I get you?"
"A cup of Americano with three shots of espresso please," the woman said. This confused Liu Tang. He didn't know that there were other types of coffee.
"Can you order the french press?" Liu Tang asked to which made the woman narrow her eyes on him. She gave him a death glare, making Liu Tang shiver and instantly retract his own words. "Alright. An Americano with three shots of espresso."
"Good," the woman looked around, seeing no other customer inside. "I guesd you'll have no trouble bringing that coffee to me. I'll sit on that chair over there."
Liu Tang only nodded as he watched the woman walk to the sofa by the brick wall. It was supposed to be for a big party but seeing that nobody else was inside, the woman took it on her own.
Meanwhile, Liu Tang was starting to panic. He didn't know how to brew the coffee that the woman want. DongFeng and ShuChun weren't around to help him.
"What should I do?" Liu Tang asked himself and decided to search for anything that could help him. His eyes landed on an old book that was placed conveniently right behind the refrigerator.
"Coffee 101?" Liu Tang opened the book, smiling after seeing that it has all the information he needed. "Okay, let's do this."
A couple of minutes had passed, Liu Tang had finished brewing. He also took the cup to the espresso machine, making sure to add the right amount of shots to the coffee before serving it.
"Here you go," Liu Tang placed the cup on the coffee table in front of the sofa the woman was sitting on. "This is what you ordered."
She narrowed her eyes before shrugging. The woman then took the cup and sipped, her eyes widening after gulping the first sip.
Now Liu Tang understood how his servants felt when they were serving him. In the public eye, Liu Tang was a role model and a man without any imperfections. He was seen as perfect and godly in his people's eyes.
But for the servants of the palace, Liu Tang was seen as a tyrant. His attitude towards the servants was known to be violent. He would often throw tantrums when he didn't get what he wanted or sometimes even punish harshly for the slightest mistakes.
He was now sorry for all the things that his people had to go through. This experience was a learning curve for him, although he was too late. His entire kingdom already perished.
The woman took her time to organize her thoughts before speaking, "This tastes good."
'1 customer served. 5 Qi is gained.'
The voice rang inside Liu Tang's head again. It said that he had gained 5 Qi from serving a customer. This made the man smile, knowing that he had another way of gaining Qi. He can't just fight all the time.
The woman's mood had completely turned upside down. She was now smiling while she looked at Liu Tang. "It's good. You can leave me alone now."
Liu Tang bows at the woman before returning to the counter. He was happy that he was able to secure the sale and now he even gained Qi in the process.
Ding Ding!
"Put this in the back," ShuChun ordered DongFeng. She glared at Liu Tang, then at the woman. "Make sure you don't steal anything from me."
With those words leaving her mouth like vemom, ShuChun left the cafe. DongFeng was carrying three paper bags that he insisted Liu Tang to not help him with. He said he could do it himself, so Liu Tang did not force himself to help.
"You made a sale?" DongFeng asked when he returned from arranging the supplied they just bought. Liu Tang nodded which made the former shrug. "Beginner's luck, I guess."
"There's no such thing," Liu Tang smiled with an intent to provoke his co-worker. "I'm not new here, remember?"
"Okay," DongFeng said dismissively. He didn't say anything more and instead went to the kitchen. "You stay here while I bake the leftover bread."
"Leftover bread?" Liu Tang scrunched his face. "Why not just throw it away? It's called leftovers because it's already been left behind."
"Last time I checked, you live in a tiny apartment in the middle of a shady street," DongFeng deadpanned. "Don't try to act all rich."
Liu Tang just realized that he didn't know where to go after they close up. It was almost closing time and he was afraid that DongFeng would not lead him to his residence.
"I'm gonna make us some pudding," DongFeng said. "You said you throw leftover bread when in fact you're always thankful when no one orders bread because you can have the pudding."
"But puddings are for pigs," Liu Tang spoke, making DongFeng snap. The man walked over to Liu Tang and stared the former emperor in the eyes.
"Guess what? In this society that we live in, we're the pigs who eat pudding to relieve our hunger," DongFeng sais sternly. "Now if you don't mind closing up when that woman leaves, that would be very helpful."
It wasn't the first time that DongFeng sent shivers into Liu Tang's spine. Earlier in his years of being a cultivator, DongFeng ambushed Liu Tang and his men. Gu Bai and LiYue wasn't with him at that time which made his defense weaker than usual.
When his men were finally killed, DongFeng was staring right into Liu Tang's eyes as he approached him. There was an ominous aura surrounding the dark warlord which made Liu Tang fall into unconsciousness over.
It turns out that a couple of elders arribed just in time to save Liu Tang. The elders told him that they managed to drive away DongFeng right before he could kill him.
The feeling was unnecessarily dark and uncomfortable, but Liu Tang was feeling it again now. As DongFeng confronted him, he was feeling fear.
And he did not liked it.
