The first day in the human world was relatively simple. There were some monsters around, but they didn't come close to the town he was supposed to protect. So, he just let them slide.
Up till now the only thing he didn't like about this place was the sun. During the day everything just became so incredibly bright. He wasn't used to this and was quite freaked out by it. The light didn't hurt or weaken Sirin, but it was incredibly annoying.
But apart from the discomfort everything was fine. Now that he had practice a little more, he could hold his shade form a fair bit longer as he hopped from shadow to shadow to avoid being seen. Every now and then some souls came floating in and he gratefully ate them. Right now, he had received six more human souls and two of a kind of mountain loin that lived close by the town.
Sadly, he needed about two thousand more of those, leaving him wondering about how the bloodlines would actually work. Since he needed a lot more human souls than mountain lion souls.
Now that the sun was about to set, he knew that he had to be more on guard. He had heard how the humans were whispering about how the monsters would always come at night. So, he was kind of grateful for that.
As the sores closed and the people started to lock their doors Sirin slipped out of the shadows and wandered the streets. He wasn't really as worried about being seen as Jordan was. Afterall what were the humans going to do? Stab him?
Somewhere further in the village he heard a slithering sound. Curious he climbed on one of the roofs so he could have a better view of the creature.
As quietly as he could, he jumped from roof to roof. Eventually he saw the thing. It looked quite humanoid only its lower half was that of a snake. The snake scales were a dark green and the skin of the creature was slightly grey, so the contrast wasn't that big. Despite its obvious reptilian quality's, it even had green hair in the same tint as its scales.
Fascinated by the thing Sirin followed it. He really wanted to kill this thing so he could have its soul. He wasn't quite sure how being able to turn into such a creature would benefit him, but he thought it must be amazing. Even if it was just to show the creature to Amanda.
After a while of following the thing, he found that it not only looked cool, but it was quite deadly as well.
The snake creature had encountered another monster, a goblin. The goblin didn't have such keen senses as Sirin, so it had no idea what was coming.
The snake creature attacked from behind and begun to strangle the goblin with its snake half. Only the goblin was tougher than it looked. It bit and scratched its attacker, leaving the snake creature with some mayor wounds in its tail.
Furious, the creature bit back and then let the goblin go. The goblin ran away as soon as its feet touched the ground. Only, it never got far. The goblin soon collapsed under the weakening effect of the venom that the snake had injected.
It didn't look like the goblin would die from the venom alone, it was just some paralysis. But the snake creature was still close by and started to eat the goblin alive.
Sirin couldn't help but notice that the snake never touched the soul of the goblin. Had it no interest? Or was it just that the creature couldn't see it?
Sirin figured that it must be the latter. Even if the snake didn't have the system, souls were still worth eating by the taste alone, never mind the increase in strength.
Ignoring the strange behaviour of the snake, Sirin found that this was the right moment to strike. The creature was wounded and distracted after all.
He grabbed the knife that he had found back in the ruins and steadily held it in his hand. For a moment he considered throwing it to stay out of the reach of the creature. However, he didn't quite trust his aim.
Therefore, he directly jumped off the roof and slammed his foot into the skull of the creature. The impact forced the snake creature to the ground.
As it was still struggling to get up again Sirin stabbed it in its neck. He originally wanted to slit its throat, but he was scared that the snake would bite him as well if he tried.
This of course wasn't enough to kill the monster. With the blade still stuck in its neck it hit Sirin with the lower half of its body.
Sirin heard something in his arm snap as he crashed against one of the buildings.
This thing had actually hurt him? How could it have such audacity?
Enraged Sirin turned himself into a shade demon again and circled around the creature by dashing from shadow to shadow. Like this the snake could only touch him once the light hit him.
Every now and then Sirin jumped out of the shadows to either bite or hit the creature slowly wearing it down over time. Like thunder, he was only visible to the snake once he struck.
The monster fiercely hissed and desperately tried to land another hit.
Eventually , Sirin was done with fooling around. One final time he jumped out of the shadows. He grabbed the creature by the air and held its face back so it wouldn't be able to inject its venom. And then he bit the creatures throat out.
After that he dashed back into the shadows and watched how the creature was slowly dying doe to no longer being able to breath. He only came out again once the soul was hovering above the lifeless body and he was completely certain that it had died.
He removed the knife from the neck of the creature. The knife would probably only be able to withstand three or four more of these actions before the handle would break off.
Bit Sirin was too distracted by the shining souls to care about the poor state of his knife.
He took the one of the goblin first since he was scared that it might disappear.
Soon the blue system notification appeared in his view.
< Goblin soul consumed: 1/200 >
He was slightly relieved by how compared to the human and mountain lion ones; he would only need this low number of souls to get a new transformation.
Now he stared at the soul of the snake creature, and he couldn't help but wonder how many he would need for this bloodline.
