He dashed towards the demon. Before it had time to turn around, he had already grabbed it by the neck, ready to slice its throat with the knife he had retrieved from the human world.
But the demon didn't let itself get killed this easily. It set its entire body on fire, what wouldn't have been that much of a problem for Sirin given that he was basically surrounded by fire for the majority of his life.
However, the entire body of the demon now behaved like fire as well as it slipped out of his hands.
After it had freed itself, it turned back immediately. The demon looked even more pathetic and exhausted than before.
Sirin charged at the demon again. That this one was quite a bit older than him was already clear by now, even if it wasn't an adult yet.
Suddenly Sirin felt as if he ran into a wall. He jumped back to see what it was. Only, there was nothing to see. However, he could still sense it. It was so clear that he could even form the colours of it in his mind.
This was magic. He had seen the magic stat in his system. He had always thought that the shadow dashing he did in his shade form was magic. But the magic he had never went down by even a single digit, except when he was called back to hell.
Now that he had an idea of what magic truly was, he could try to use it as well. However, that didn't mean that he would let this demon live to teach him. No, he was certain that he would figure it out himself. After all this should be a relatively easy kill and it would be a waste to let it slip.
He moved around the invisible wall of magic. Only for the other demon to kick him in his chest.
"What nerve." It hissed at him while it spread its thorn wings. "How dare a hatchling like you attack someone like me!"
Sirin shrugged. "I don't know. You were the one looking pathetic. I just decided to test my luck."
The demon furiously glared at Sirin. "There is something I absolutely despise about you. But I can't exactly lay my finger on it."
"You mean its not the fact that I'm insulting you, as well as trying to kill you?" Sirin laughed in an upbeat tone.
The demon roared and charged at Sirin. He tried to move away but the demon had nailed his feet to the ground.
Sirin changed into a Naga to escape at the last second. Since it would be better if he lost the tip of his tail than a leg. He knew that it would take way to long to regenerate otherwise.
The other demon was completely chocked. It had seen other demons alter their forms, but never to this extend.
In this small moment of hesitation Sirin managed to bite the demon and to inject his venom. He immediately changed back to his original form after that. They were in an open area without many shadows, it wouldn't be of much use to turn into a shade demon at the moment.
As the venom took affect the demon's movements became more sluggish. The only thing preventing Sirin from killing it at this moment was the fact that it kept warding him off with magic. Tough soon its mana reservoirs would be depleted, allowing Sirin from finally taking its life.
After the final clash with the magic that this demon used Sirin was able to break trough and ripped the head of the demon from its torso.
Black blood dripped down the mutilated body and soaked the earth.
Only, the thing that had Sirin's attention was not the mass of muscle and bones, but the dark flame hovering above it.
< flame demon soul consumed 2/2 >
< Smoke demon soul consumed 1/2 >
Sirin sighed, finding another smoke demon would have to wait. Right now, he didn't have the time to search through this entire infernal plane. He had to get back to Amanda, he had been gone for quite a while now and she wouldn't have any idea of where he was.
Back in the dead forest he decided to try the new bloodline. After the usual nausea and pain from transforming into a new race for the first time, he found that he was quite a bit taler now.
Overall, his appearance hadn't changed that much. Actually, he had already suspected this, since he was probably already part flame demon given by the small number of souls required.
Apart from the change in height, he was a bit more muscular now with scales running down his back, shoulders, and arms. He also had some more smaller black stripes following his original ones.
He was quite disappointed that he didn't get wings like the flame demon he had killed, but he figured that he might grow them himself when he was older. Or he would just have to kill some other creature with wings.
He was naturally thinking about the harpies flying around the dead forest. Surely, he wouldn't need that many. Even if they weren't demons, they did live in hell so the bloodline should be compatible.
He should also go back to one of the human worlds. The souls of the creatures there were richer and more fulfilling. Staying here would only hinder his growth.
Tough for now, he was quite satisfied with how things were. He had a new complete bloodline and an example for how he should use magic. There was no real rush, he would still be able to stay here for a few days without falling behind on his siblings.
