It didn't take long to find one of these portals. It was just a matter of either following the odd scent that was sometimes accompanied by blood or following the mass of other demons. The real problem arose once he actually came close to the altar.
Numerous little demons were fighting for the entrance to the human world. This made him want to go even more. After all, if that many other demons wanted it, then it must be a good thing!
Unsure of what to do he simply joined the fight.
As he had suspected he was indeed a fair bit stronger now. He killed many of the other demons, which wasn't too hard considering that he joined the fight rather late, and his competition was already getting tired. Sadly, he couldn't snatch the souls of these demons in the middle of the battle. Especially since other demons were doing the same.
Tough somewhere inn the battle one of the other demons had managed to take a piece out of his shoulder. The sent of the black blood attracted the attention of a lot more other demons. Eventually he had to retreat. The swarm of little demons was simply too much.
Finally, he managed to flee to the ruins where he could lick his wounds to stop the bleeding.
At first, he did not know what to do. He had told Amanda that he would go to one of the human worlds, but he couldn't even get to the altar.
He sighed and leaned against the wall of one of the buildings.
He would try one more time. If he didn't manage to reach the portal that time, then he would go back.
He stood up. And decided to look for another altar right now. If he managed to find one before someone on the other side wanted to summon a demon. Then he would already have a head start.
But first he went to look around the buildings. There had to be something sharp here! Much like most other demons in this area he was still small, and his claws weren't long enough to cause much damage at this point. He also didn't feel like smacking his face into his opponents to hit them with his still small horns.
After looking around for a while he found something in one of the drawers, a knife! It wasn't something special, just a blade with a beautifully decorated wooden handle, but it should be enough for now.
Equipped with his new weapon he started to look for an altar that wasn't opened at this point.
This didn't take too long, the altar he found was much like the one he had been to before, placed in a temple like building completely covered in inscriptions.
He would be able to read them, they were in the demon language after all, but the inscriptions were all old and damaged.
He was a bit disappointed. But maybe he would find another temple like this later, hopefully in a better state.
With nothing to do while he waited, he just stared outside the temple. Every now and then a demon or a monster passed by. When that happened, he would use the system for help.
Even with the white stripes he was a lot less noticeable as a shade demon. And to top that off, he could even merge with the shadows to some degree now.
He wondered if he had any cool powers like this of his own. But without knowing what kind of demon, he exactly was, he didn't even know in what type of ability it could be. If he had seen one of his parents by the nest, then he would have an idea of what he was. But sine his sibling had a mixed bloodline, it was quite reasonable to assume that he would have that as well.
After a day had passed, he started to hear a humming sound behind him. Full of excitement he jumped up and ran towards the altar that was now glowing with a lime green light.
He had to be quick. He could already hear the other demons rushing towards this altar.
But before even the first of them could set foot in the temple he was already standing on the altar and the world around him started to fade away.
Once he opened his eyes again, he found that he was in a room lighted by candles. The dim lights were rather pleasant and kind of reminded him of the random flames at home. The air was strange and more humid than where he lived.
After that the first thing he noticed was a group of humans standing before him. All of them were wearing cloaks much like he had, only the middle one had his face full on display.
All of them were murmuring something in union with bowls of blood on either side of the room. Sirin himself was standing in a weird circle made out of some white powder. He kind of recognised the symbols on it. some of these had a striking resemblance to those in the temple. What could explain why this circle was in connection with that specific temple.
Sirin couldn't help but wag his tail in excitement. He actually made it, he managed to come to a human world. He couldn't wait to tell Amanda once he got back.
